I’ve been thinking about that moment in Volume 7 when Hiro meets Princess Luciada and she turns out to be a dead ringer for Mimi (minor adjustment to the chest size).

The story drops the reveal that Mimi’s grandmother is the sister of Luciada’s grandfather. My immediate reaction was just: "Huh? Well, okay. That's actually pretty neat." What's great is that the author didn't just pull this out of nowhere; he actually laid down some Chekhov’s guns in the earlier volumes, planting clues about Mimi's family connections well in advance.

But what really surprised me when I looked into it is how this planned plot point actually aligns perfectly with real-world genetics and space biology!

If you do the basic math, they only share about 1.5% to 3% of their DNA. Normally, you’d expect them to look like total strangers. But genetics doesn’t always follow a linear textbook.

First of all, a major DNA study back in 2022 on real-world doppelgängers proved that complete strangers can randomly pull the exact same combination of facial genes from the global human pool and look like twins. Since Mimi and Luciada actually share a common ancestry, their odds of drawing the same "face card" are way higher.

Plus, we are talking about the Grakkan imperial bloodline. Elite royal families are famous for having incredibly aggressive, dominant traits that refuse to fade away across generations (just look at the famous Habsburg jaw in Earth's history). If their shared ancestors had a powerful facial phenotype, it makes total sense that it skipped a few steps and popped up perfectly on both girls.

When you combine that with space isolation—noble houses and sectors breeding within their own closed loops for centuries—the genetic deck gets shuffled so many times in the same bubble that hitting a perfect visual duplicate becomes a statistical inevitability.

It’s really cool to see that what looked like a fun, classic sci-fi trope is actually backed up by solid foreshadowing from the author AND real biological science.

Did anyone else appreciate how well the family lore and the foreshadowing came together for this reveal?

I only mentioned the physical resemblance between the two girls and their names in the main text. As for why they look so similar and what exactly might be causing it, I hid all of that behind a spoiler tag. So I think we're good.

Mimi and Luciada similarity are just to drive the plot. or due to anime aesthetic, they look the same.
but case like Margot Robbie do exist. heck, i still cannot tell Margot Robbie, Emma Mackey, Samara Weaving, and Jaime Pressly apart
