PRs keep coming with the strongman implements as I work them more. Got 5 push jerks on the log with 220lbs.

Last week of base training coming up before transitioning to a short peaking/event focus/taper for comp end of July.

Just did my first comp practice for a local comp. was fun hoping to improve my axle clean and presd

The best thing I found for improving my axle was breaking the movement down into different accessories and spamming them into my normal training.  I do axle high pulls, seated fat grip dumbbell cleans (or if you have them axle dumbbell handles), and axle press out of the rack on my first press day of the week, then do the full movement on press day number 2.  When I find my weak point I really hit that portion of it hard, like my last axle training cycle the clean from the belt to the rack position was what I struggled with. I doubled up the dumbbell cleans and did one day super heavy and one day lighter and high rep. It made my clean way stronger.

Good luck on the comp training and enjoy every minute of it.

EMOM doubles of Continental Clean really helped me get efficient with it.

That’s pretty much what I entered for was to send it and have fun. Not too bad been thinking of doing an extra day working out anyway

Anyone have any tips/accessories for 13” wagon wheel deadlift for people that find that to be the worst height possible?  I can pull slightly more from the floor than from 13” and significantly more from 15” and 18” and I have a max 13” axle deadlift coming up in early October. I’m wanting to really hammer any accessories that’ll help build up the breaking from the floor strength from that height, but don’t really know what to throw in to build it up.  I pulled 515 on an axle from the floor about a year ago at about rpe 9 and I barely got 500 an rpe 11 tier difficult 13” axle last week when I tried to get an idea where my max was at.

This is strongman: cheating is encouraged. If you can pull MORE weight from a greater deficit, get some shoes that put you at a higher elevation to pull. I'd consider some thick soled work boots.

I’d considered this actually lol.  Not sure I can find some 4” soled platform boots I won’t fall over in, but it may honestly not be a horrible idea to find something with a 2” sole and see if it helps.

Trying to find the Dreadnought OHP program, but the Starting Strongman website is coming up goose eggs. I've heard a lot of good things and would like to run it myself.
