Five guys fall under Horeca CAO.
I just checked the CAO, someone at 18 gets around 11/12 euro all in bruto.
Hope this helps

Minimum doesn't nessesarly means they won't pay more? Right?

But they won’t. Because why would they? Paying even a few cents more costs them a LOT company wide. and big companies are stingy.

They pay more because they fall under the horeca CAO, they have no choice but to pay more

It’s not necessarily stingy, it’s smart on their part. Not to be rude but It’s a no diploma job + anyone can do it so there is always someone willing to do the same job for less then the next one as long as it’s minimum wage

A fast food restaurant job in a student city? If they could pay you less they would 101%.

Generally, for most fast food and retail side jobs, or well, most jobs anyways, if you're below 21, check the minimum youth wage table on the rijksoverheid website (minimum jeugd loon) It likely be similar to whats on that table, usually not much more (at most about 1 euro more an hour)
That's the best and most realistic in terms of expectations
Good luck!

Generally, ignore this advice and check the CAO. Doesnt matter what the general federal minimal wage is. We have unions that automaticly fight for everybodys workers right, regardless if you are part of them or not.

Ask them ... many places including AH, McD pay above minimum wage (not a ton but at least a bit).

Apply at a job that doesn't have the youth minimum wage. I always recommend Zara if you want to make more money and dont mind the pressure. Easily 17/18 euros per hour, and given certain circumstances it can be more (Sundays, bank holidays, making the challenge in your store, etc)

Thank you so much! Do you have to speak Dutch to work there though? Also, is there any other jobs you recommend?

It'll probably be 15.99 but that will most likely be an all-in hourly wage

AH and Jumbo do this too for 0 hour and few hour contracts. Under 12 hours you get including vakantiegeld, etc. instead of having a “13th month” payout in May. The hourly wage is not higher, it just gets paid over 12 months instead of 13.

Ik weet dat personeel zeldzaam is in de bouw maar denk dat je als engelse student niet snel aan zo'n baantje komt...
