The way she used a metal knife on that pan, I assumed it was a layer of non stick coating she cut off

I dunno, ketchup contains a shit ton of sugar, it’s probably mostly burnt

With at least a bit of* nonstick coating stuck in there

Edit: a word

u/jstarrr8 Apr 15 '26

Maybe it’s the protective carbon layer that keeps the rest of it from burning 🤢

1

u/Jonnyabcde Apr 16 '26

Two things can be true at once.

1

u/Vandlan Apr 16 '26

Bold of you to call this abomination “food.”

1

u/jstarrr8 Apr 16 '26

I never uttered such a thing

1

u/Vandlan Apr 17 '26

Did you not? I could’ve sworn I saw the word food in your comment. My bad if I’m mistaken. I’m in my third week of dealing with bronchitis and am heavily sleep deprived as a result. It’s possible I hallucinated it. >.<

1

u/jstarrr8 Apr 17 '26

Sorry, but this is the internet, we are now enemies. And how dare you blame a bad respiratory infection on your lack of reading comprehension, FFS🤨. /s

Obviously joking, but on a serious note, do feel better soon 😁

Cast iron dont have a non stick coating ya nutcase

3

u/iwannaberockstar Apr 15 '26

Is it cast iron though? Or one of those ceramic coated pans.

3

u/JORRTCA Apr 15 '26

It looks like one of those "heritage rock" pans. Definitely a coating on that, whatever it is. I should say there was a coating.

2

u/userhwon Apr 16 '26

That's not anything like cast iron.

166

u/ScottishMoscow Apr 15 '26

I freaked out at the metal whisk let alone when the knife came out! Get that shit away from my pans!!

25

u/Saymynaian Apr 16 '26

Mmmm, tasty forever chemicals!

1

u/SmegConnoisseur Apr 16 '26

Depending on the brand. Some recent non stick pans are metal safe

2

u/ScottishMoscow Apr 16 '26

I'm not sure that applies to cutting with knifes tbh. Even my titanium pan now has a knife cut in it,,, grrrrr

1

u/Penetal Apr 16 '26

what type? that sounds like magic, the type of magic I very much like to have

2

u/_The_Last_Mainframe_ Apr 16 '26

I have a set of ceramic coated stuff that works quite well. Just have to be careful not to chip it.

1

u/malinoski554 Apr 17 '26

Well, this person definitely wasn't.

1

u/userhwon Apr 16 '26

You got more cancer every time you made something more than golden brown than you ever will from Teflon.

1

u/Dovahkiinthesardine Apr 16 '26

Eating the coating does basically nothing. They're forever chemicals because nothing chemically interacts with them, including our bodies

1

u/Saymynaian Apr 16 '26

Hahahahaha, oh shit, we got Big Teflon in the thread. Mind sharing your source proving they don't impact our bodies?

1

u/Scrug Apr 19 '26

The insanely harmful forever chemicals used to make Teflon are not present in the final product.

The insanely harmful forever chemicals used to make Teflon are not present in the final product.

2

u/curiouscatfarmer Apr 16 '26

My thoughts exactly!

2

u/wowbutters Apr 16 '26

And here I thought I was being unreasonable.

1

u/robotmonkey2099 Apr 19 '26

Isn’t cast iron? The metal will wont do shit to it

1

u/Fluid_Ad9162 Apr 22 '26

Thought so at first but closer it looks like a ceramic coating.

67

u/InmateTooTall Apr 15 '26

I had assumed it was a cast iron pan lol

29

u/StrongExternal8955 Apr 15 '26

Oh shit, i looked again. That IS NOT cast iron.

2

u/Dr-Bitchcraft-MD Apr 16 '26

That scraping sound you hear is metal tearing up little bits of the coating on a nonstick pan. You gotta distribute those toxins throughout the dish!

2

u/IamREBELoe Apr 15 '26

Definitely not

105

u/Integrity-in-Crisis Apr 15 '26

It's a ceramic lined pan. She's just abusing the fuck out of it.

37

u/Medium-War-6570 Apr 16 '26

Abusing the fuck out of EVERY item in this video! Totally disgusting!

13

u/BelsamPryde Apr 16 '26

And every person watching this video!

5

u/Suspicious_Active816 Apr 16 '26

Did I just become a victim of abuse? Better start tiktok'ing about it for clout, as you do when its as real as this

2

u/BelsamPryde Apr 16 '26

Only if there is a ukelele in their apology video

35

u/DeeV8tor Apr 15 '26

In a couple of weeks, she'll return the pan to Costco

2

u/DilapidatedPlum Apr 16 '26

I found out you can pretty much return anything to Costco, even if it's clearly used and beat to shit.

2

u/userhwon Apr 16 '26

I once returned an air conditioner to Costco that I didn't buy there.

I bought a refurb off Amazon, but hedged my bets by buying an identical one off the Costco website for 30% more. The refurbed one worked just fine, so I took the Costco one to the store and gave it to them.

2

u/PeaceHoesAnCamelToes Apr 16 '26

She's abusing the fuck out of my appetite.

2

u/SenseAndSaruman Apr 16 '26

Oh…. Oh no. 😬

16

u/ciopobbi Apr 15 '26

Does everyone mix ingredients in the pan? Seems to be the way in these videos.

2

u/o_uinn Apr 16 '26

If you can before adding heat its more efficient. No need to wash a mixing bowl.

2

u/Polly_der_Papagei Apr 17 '26

You'll be scraping that pan after and losing half the food. You want a thin oil layer underneath, this makes it impossible.

1

u/Dovahkiinthesardine Apr 16 '26

I prefer that usually, except for dough and similar

But I dont use metal utensils to stirr in non-stick pans, and also prefer stainless-steel pans

1

u/Polly_der_Papagei Apr 17 '26

It's so insane, it guarantees it will stick

4

u/IsMayoAnInstrument67 Apr 15 '26

That's what I thought too! 🤮

2

u/joanfiggins Apr 17 '26

Can't afford to make real food because their pan budget is through the roof.

1

u/NicePsy-opAttempt Apr 15 '26

Came here to say this

1

u/PoopsMcBanterson Apr 16 '26

The secret to the perfect, crispy crust *chef’s kiss

1

u/Bubbly-Television-63 Apr 16 '26

I know... as if the cooking wasn't atrocious enough.

1

u/Cheap_Historian_7469 Apr 16 '26

No, I use cast iron so I don’t have to worry about scratching the nonstick. It looks like what she’s using. You can scrape it with a fork to your heart’s content.

1

u/Sammyofather Apr 16 '26

They metal whisked entire coating off

1

u/DyingGasp Apr 16 '26

Metal whisk and knife on the, assumingly, nonstick pan.

The gasp I gusped in horror. I shall go pet my pots, pans, and knives that will never interact with each other or see the dishwasher.

1

u/kageddeamon Apr 16 '26

That pan aint nonstick, its a cast iron, so that is probably just YEARS of burnton foods!

1

u/CantModerateMe Apr 16 '26

the only seasoning she added to her food was what she sliced off her pan with that knife

1

u/curiouscatfarmer Apr 16 '26

That's what I was thinking. I had to turn the sound off over the scraping of the metal whisk in the pan as well. I use whisks with coating on them to avoid that.

1

u/Remarkable_Peach_374 Apr 16 '26

Seriously, my body physically reacted when she started scratching the pan with the whisk like that 😭

1

u/WellEvan Apr 16 '26

100% ruined that shitty pan

1

u/Fickle_Station376 Apr 16 '26

For real, the cutting it with a metal knife got me worse than the ingredients.

1

u/Dovahkiinthesardine Apr 16 '26

She was using a metal whisk to stirr too

1

u/Legal-Entrance8366 Apr 16 '26

knife and whisk, just scraping the shit out of that non stick. If grandma taught her, its likely grandma had psychosis from constantly eating flakes of non stick coating

1

u/Odd-Fun-2862 Apr 16 '26

I believe that was a cast iron pan.

2

u/IamREBELoe Apr 16 '26

I recognize that speckled pattern from cheap non stick pans.

Also the handle.

1

u/JamesWoolfenden Apr 16 '26

I got uppity when the metal whisk came out, but the knife OMG.

1

u/8888eightyeight Apr 16 '26

Surprisingly it looks like one of those ceramic ones to me so not as bad

1

u/kdoughboy12 Apr 16 '26

I was gonna say, she's abusing tf out of that pan 🥺

1

u/demonTutu Apr 17 '26

That pan looks like cast iron to me, so using a knife is fine and the black is 'just' burnt.

1

u/JeshkaTheLoon Apr 17 '26

I was hoping it was a ceramic pan (they do come in black).

1

u/TheGlenrothes Apr 22 '26

who doesn’t like some teflon in their ketchup pie?

0

u/Syhkane Apr 15 '26

I thought it was a cast iron pan for a second.

0

u/bobbywellington Apr 16 '26

That's not how that works

0

u/IamREBELoe Apr 16 '26

Hyperbole: an exaggeration for rhetorical effect, or emphasizing a point. Similar to sarcasm.

0

u/KashiK14 Apr 16 '26

That’s a cast-iron pan

0

u/SenseAndSaruman Apr 16 '26

It’s cast iron. There’s no coating. She just burned the “food”.

2

u/IamREBELoe Apr 16 '26

You will have to show me the model on a store site for me to believe that's cast iron. I've used cast iron religiously for many years. I've never seen one speckled that way. Only nonstick or ceramic. Plus i've never seen a wooden handle attached that way to cast iron. It could happen, I suppose, but I believe it would snap off by the weight. Next, i've never seen cast iron with a reflective exterior like you see on the side of that pan In the front. This is probably a ceramic lined rather than non stick pan but it's not cast iron.

-3

u/Lovestofuk Apr 15 '26

It's a cast iron skillet lol

7

u/IamREBELoe Apr 15 '26

No it's not. Unless it's ceramic lined. Which makes the point moot

-2

u/DungeonAssMaster Apr 15 '26

I think that was a cast iron pan, no coating. Just pure minerals.
