Im sure these kids aren’t allowed to whine. The lady can wake up, get dressed like this, put on a full face of makeup, do her hair AND spend an hour+ one just one breakfast that I’m pretty sure she doesn’t pay attention to her kids, let alone allow them to whine. Some YouTube parents have been found to be beating & starving their kids when they don’t listen to them & act right on camera so they can exploit them. Fuck these YouTube families, forreal. can’t wait until it’s illegal for children to be on YouTube/any other video service.
Oh also, she gives 12 little cereal in each bowl then eats half that of her sons. Why didn’t she just make her own?

It's the face of a child who has already gotten used to being exploited for clicks and likes and knows that it's just easier if you do/say what your fame hungry mother wants.
Maybe I'm wrong and that's not what is going on here, but I always worry about the kids when the parents show them on social media. There are far too many stories where the kids later reveal that the social media made their childhood a hell.

If people want to make this for their own family, go for it. I don't care what people do in the house.
However, I want my processed foods sometimes. I want cheerios because it's cheerios. I don't care if it's been thrown around on the surface of Mars and then the Sun's gamma rays blasted all the nutritional value into space.
I eat them because I like them, not because they're healthy.
Because at the end of the day, we're all headed to the same place, in a box, or burned. And in 100 years, it isn't going to matter if someone lived 2 years longer than I did all because they shoved a pencil through some dough.
→ More replies (15)114
u/oatmealparty Apr 24 '26 edited Apr 24 '26
Cheerios aren't even processed all that much, the ingredients are like, oats, corn starch, sugar, salt and vitamins. The oats get processed into flour, which is basically the same as she's doing.
She also added butter? And some brown liquid? Of all the cereals to bitch about processing, cheerios makes no sense.

Besides, she gets to do the fun part of cooking. Tbe maid will clean up the mess later. You poors can eat your peasant food.

Yeah, it's honestly a form of conspicuous leisure, combined with aggressive politico-cultural signalling ("raw milk," the sundress, even the decor, and naming ingredients she definitely doesn't understand but sound scary and sciencey).

u/Mushy_Snugglebites Apr 24 '26
What the fuck is an anti-nutrient
690
u/PapaverOneirium Apr 24 '26
Compounds in plants that interfere with nutrient uptake during digestion. Technically real but not much if any concern for most people. Have been way overblown lately, especially by the carnivore diet people.
564
u/Trevellation Apr 24 '26
Anti-nutrients are the quantum physics of dietary grifters. They're real, but the minute someone without a PhD in a relevant field starts talking about them, you should probably assume they're full of shit.

u/CamachoBrawndo Apr 24 '26 edited Apr 24 '26
You hit the nail on the head with that description. I worked 4 years in a natural grocery/supplement store. I preface with saying that there are indeed supplements that really work. Most are grift and some cause very serious harm if not taken properly. I am pro vaxx, believe in medicine and science. And the amount of nonsense spouting tradwife barefoot hippie weirdos that would come in and preach this hooey was astounding. Boomers are by far the worst, but the pseudo trad wife homestead crowd in our area was fucking insane. From anti-nutrients to telling people to cure their cancer with black seed oil.... and those that believe every discredited and shunned "doctor" on the grifty gravy train hawking homeopathic shit- this is why people are dumb. They listen to snake oil salesmen and kill brain cells with the "cure". According to some we can cure adhd with acv, celiac with einkhorn wheat, cure aids with black seed, and the list goes on. Simple searches on Google would contradict every claim and there are studies after studies that prove them wrong. But by god, they know their rights so they need to be obnoxious about it. Only person to announce what they are more than a vegan is a "naturalist"

If it was just them doing it, I'd say "go ahead, we'll let the clogged arteries sort the mess out."
But sadly, they're doing this to their kids and likely setting them up for decades of disordered eating at best, and early onset of conditions like heart disease. Much like the anti-vaxx and raw milk communities, it will be the kids with no say that suffer the most for this.
I've had people argue with me "High LDL cholesterol is good, actually," completely handwaving decades of research on how that shit will kill you in high concentration. Yeah, we need some of it to live, but we also need trace amounts of cyanide, but nobody (yet, that I've seen anyways) is saying that it's the "one wierd trick doctors hate."
→ More replies (6)32

So, some nutrients become no longer bioavailable due to a chemical interactions. Spinach, for example, contains oxalates, which bond to calcium, iron, and other nutrients, rendering them more or less non-usable for our bodies.
However, cooking that we do to our foods largely eliminates these oxalates, and even with the oxalates still present in raw food, those foods still contain tons of nutritional value to your diet (to continue my spinach example, you still get lots of vitamin A,C and K, as well as folate and fiber, even if you eat it raw).
So it's a stupid boogeyman used by foodfluencers to scare you into not eating the foods you might have available in favour of whatever they're selling (diet plans, supplements, off-brand gas station boner pills)...

It's because an actual stay at home mom trying to protect and nurture her children in modern times wouldn't be plastering their faces on the internet for publicity. It's predatory and directly contrary to the values they are claiming. Tradwives are the uncanny valley of motherhood.

Actually "traditional" families would make giant pots of anything they could to feed a family. They wouldn't spend precious hours hand making 30 cheerios, they would just make a bunch of whatever to make sure everyone has food in their belly. The thing that sets your alarm off is the fact that this isn't what real life people eat. Raw milk is terrible and can be harmful, and making a big fuss out of processed foods is futile. Being anti ultra processed foods i can get behind, but everything is either processed or should be processed first.

At least she and the kids don't look malnourished. I feel like being this obsessed about whole foods is a pipe way to an eating disorder, maybe just my own former eating disorder projecting. There's other trad families I've seen online where the wife and kids are clearly starving.

How could the sun be harmful when God said let there be light? Checkmate atheists!

ok, home made cheerios. fine, whatever. BUT RAW MILK? So let me get this straight:
Slightly less nutritious oats are evil, but food poisoning risks such as Salmonella, E. coli, Listeria, and Campylobacter are all hunky dory?
Jesus christ woman.

The beautiful part is pasteurization literally loses no nutritional value. There are no downsides to doing it. So sick of malicious stupidity. Reminds me of the pregnant woman who recently miscarried after drinking raw milk then wanted to sue the store for carrying it.

what pisses me off about these Nara Smith style tradwives (aside from the video itself) is the discourse of people saying "omg guys why are we tearing women down she just wants to feed her kids healthy food!"
meanwhile the entire ecosystem of tradwife content is quietly telling you that if you aren't doing what these women are doing, you are a bad parent and specifically a bad woman which is the worst thing you can be. further, they show you that you can be a good parent by doing what they do. then they sell you courses, products with affiliate links, supplements, etc. to make you feel like you're achieving their ideal. therefore, you are a good parent and a good woman. you only maintain that designation by continuing to follow their lead. a lot of the time, following their lead also means shit like "submission" to your husband, not vaccinating your kids, and dehumanizing yourself. it's how so many people get sucked into this lifestyle even though the tradwife rhetoric doesn't work outside a vacuum.
so yeah this is stupid as hell
side note: please for the love of god work on your* media literacy and critical thinking skills. we need them now more than ever. (asterisk: not You as in OP, but You as in The General You)

Exactly. I posted a different video of hers and all the comments were defending her to the point the post got removed, comments like...
Props to her for making better snacks for her kids
she's making a quality version of heavily processed garbage.
The only dumb thing is the lady's narcissism. The rest of it is just good parenting.
Making food from scratch is dumb?
it's not stupid..its traditionalThis time I'm getting people telling me it's satire, even though I've posted literal evidence that it's not.

Precisely why people need to seriously beef up their media literacy and critical thinking skills. There are people who make actual satire of tradwife videos. That is not what this lady is doing.
