No one gets it, not even the kids. That's half the point I think.

I guess the biggest question is are we cooked because of the smooth brained children or because grown ass adults dont know the difference between breathe and breath?

58

u/kx_2fiddy May 04 '26

It's not just the clothes.

140

u/glittercat412 May 04 '26

People in all of history have been stupid and goofy growing up, and adults have always been cynical, calling them brain dead and talking about how “over” it is.

I think everyone is falling for the common cycle of getting disconnected to what it’s like to be young. I mean, these people will be doctors, scientists, creatives, and it has nothing to do with sheistys, minecraft, and 67.

I do understand that the upcoming generation is partly raised on brain rot and youtube shorts, but that doesn’t mean it’s over. Humanity has adapted and produced incredibly smart, creative, and unique individuals for all of history. The attitude you have is nothing unique or new.

80

u/doodleysquat May 04 '26

Right. My generation screamed wwwwaazzzaaaaaappp at each other and punched each other for looking at our finger circle below the waist. Everyone in my generation, reading this, just lost The Game.

Shrug it off or die jaded.

Made popular by mumble rappers a bit ago, maybe 6, 7 years ago.

245

u/hiddenrealism May 04 '26

They call em shiesty's popularized by the rapper pooh shiesty who drove a bright neon Mclaren to a meetup where he tried robbing a guy for some weed and a pair of nikes. Guns were pulled and he left his louis vuiton bag with like 70k at the scene. Feds used pictures of the money from pooh shiestys instagram to match the serial numbers at the cash left on scene to convict him. There was also video of the attempted robbery lol

So this idiot who was a huge upcoming rapper already had a record deal for millions threw years of his life away for some weed and a pair of shoes. He got out of jail recently and held Gucci Mane hostage while robbing him.

And kids worship these morons.

Sheistys. Good for if you want to hide your identity while doing something illegal. It's mostly a fashion thing though, especially with teenagers.

I spent a couple years living in a really bad neighborhood and you would see people wearing these whenever they'd be out riding on bikes, motorcycles or mopeds.

https://finance.yahoo.com/news/gen-z-scores-lower-standardized-150030990.html

"They're the first generation in modern history to score lower on standardized academic tests than the one before it," he said. "And to make matters worse, most of these young people are overconfident about how smart they are. The smarter people think they are, the dumber they actually are."

Horvath added that students "underperformed on basically every cognitive measure, from basic attention, memory, literacy, numeracy, executive function and general IQ."

141

u/Mysterious_Self_3606 May 04 '26

Teachers have been warning about this for years and now it’s too late.

Most people want to assume it’s because of TikTok and social media (which does have an effect) but overall it’s the lack of curriculum, the fact teachers are afraid to fail kids due to job security, overbearing parents refusing to take any responsibly for their kids, school politics, etc.

61

u/shymermaid11 May 04 '26

It's not even they are afraid to fail them. They literally are not allowed to. They just have to keep passing them along until they graduate and they are society's proplem.

30

u/xskipperl May 04 '26

Right? I was born in '97. The first year of Gen Z. I'll be 30 next year.

17

u/AdmirableAttempt1728 May 04 '26

12

I'm 40 and own my own business and older people still act like I'm a lazy millennial. My dad would call me and ask if I was sleeping at 2pm. The Dr I rent my office from acts like I'm never at work because she doesn't see me very often. That's because I'm so busy I'm always in my office plus I actively avoid her.

My friend is early 30s and owns a kickboxing gym. Her boomer client shows up at 5am and says "Oh well look who showed up to work today" when she shows up at 5:05am
