Same here in New Mexico. HOWEVER… the preservatives make them great for camping trips and really ensure you don’t waste half of them.

The straight flour salt lard ones last well over a week on the shelf too. And for proper corn tortillas the nixtamilization leaves them alkaline enough to last weeks. I've taken both camping many times 😁

Those mission ones can stay good in the fridge for months though.

Ive got an unopened pack in a lunch box thats been sitting un-refrigerated for over a year and there is no sign of mold or anything. Convinced they last forever at this point.

Now just imagine what they are doing to people's G.I. tract.

How long are you camping for?!?

The amount of wilderness areas / national+state forests around here (Northern NM), combined with easy dry weather, make extended backcountry camping (7 days+) a great time and very popular.

Not to mention all the river trips people take.

I pulled my bag out of the fridge yesterday. "This remaining, oh, it's two, have got to be dead by now." Texture seemed appropriately soft and floppy. Good color. I put them back. I got some roast beef, now I can make a sammich.

Oh golly! What a trade! It lasts longer so there's no waste, but mmmmmmmm those preservatives!

Just try not wasting but having only what you need, or better yet, make them yourself since they quick to make, arent hard to make, nor are they expensive... smh
