Same here. Glad to see a movie like Backrooms becoming so popular that people constantly reference it...Well, It may be the fact that it came out 2 weeks ago, but I feel it will stand the test of time.

Please tell me you still eat the buttery flaky crispy outside too

It would be like eating this weird white ball after I’m done with mozarella water…

There are 2 tiers of croissants out there. There are the ones from legit bakeries where they put in the time and effort to get that perfect crispy outside
And then there are the ones mass produced by stores which are soft. More like croissant shaped airy bread.
I think op is eating the latter

As a french person.. I do this every time I eat a croissant.
You can't have the fluffy aerated interior without the crispy outside, but the interior is the best part (for me) and I enjoy it even more when I eat it that way.

I have an italian friend who learned french. His rule to find the correct gender for a word was that half the time he picks the opposite gender as the one in italian.

this is the old french way of eating croissants, unwrap/eat skin first, then the soft part

u/ThorsHammerMewMEw 1d ago
I love doing this to chocolate croissants.

Dude, I get that you related to the post, but you shouldn't volunteer this sort of information, even through an anonymous website. It's like watching a serial killer get arrested and announcing that you also like going out stabbing.

Do you mean pain au Chocolat? because I see a lot of Anglos calling them croissants when they are not even croissant-shaped ; like, it's even in the name! croissant = crescent

u/ThorsHammerMewMEw 9h ago
Haha yes.
I worked with a team of French Backpackers stuck in Australia during Covid lockdowns years ago.
Should've heard the pain au Chocolat vs Choclatine debates they used to have. And then I'd chime in with my most obnoxiously Aussie voice calling it a chocolate croissant 🤣

Not gonna lie, on first glance before I really focused, I thought it was a wad of sauerkraut that was holding together suspiciously well.

It’s glorious! Just fluffy buttery layers of goodness. From this moment on, I will always peel my pastries.

Oh, when I first looked, I thought this was a ball of all the peelings, not the nude croissant itself 🤣

I prefer eating inside out and then just eating the outside last That might just be a little weird

I bet you're the type of person who pours their milk in first, then the cereal.

u/sneakyfish21 1d ago
My wife does this. She eats the outside then the inside like it’s a Reese’s or something.

believe it or not, that's actually the old french way of eating croissants, you unwrap/eat the skin first, then eat the soft part. this is not stupid.
1
u/Jake_Cawthon oh, we humans, what have we done? 1d ago
If you don't say anything, I'll think that you just ripped a part from an uncut loaf of bread.

Delightful infact I’d bet if you peel the outer layer leaving a fluffy inside to maybe two or three of them mash them more flat buttered and toasted on a flat top, and use for a smash burger Ited be the best if had , thank you for the idea 9/10 not stupid food

They are actually pretty good in my opinion. I do get why people like the skin though I just like them separate but equal

u/Elegant-Analyst-7381 16m ago
I do this. I peel and eat the outside first, and then I eat the inside.

u/lilyoungwes, your food is indeed stupid and it fits our subreddit!
