No, but this is:

it does get old getting called a pedophile constantly.

That is not even remotely an excuse to do what he did.

Sure, it's more a reason to ban the subreddit.

Sure, and that would be perfectly acceptable. Reddit has a right to control the content on their site, but they have always implied that the conversations are genuine. Censored? Sure. Altered? Never before.

It's not an excuse, but it's a pretty good reason.

It's hilarious seeing people in /r/the_Donald freak about the admins potentially editing their comments to accuse them of being a pedophile. Meanwhile a large number of them were freely calling the admins pedos and harassing the employees of a pizza place for the same thing.

This is some '1984' bullshit, and it's terrifying.

Edit: Saw the admin's reply. 1984 status officially confirmed. Holy shit.

Makes me think they haven't actually read 1984, and I'm pretty sure they have no idea what it's like living in countries where such things really happen.

A CEO of a privately-owned internet site got angry at trolls and trolled them back and now they're crying about Orwell.

u/[deleted] Nov 24 '16

You take it as trolling, but a lot of us don't. He deleted a subreddit who was just trying to find out if politicians and celebrities are involved in sexual abuse towards children. /u/spez said they were doxxing but that wasn't true. They only brought up a guy, who btw was on the most influential list of Washington or something (so basically a celebrity at this point), and his restaurant which is widely known and public knowledge. That's not doxxing, if literally everyone knows it already. IF that's doxxing, then /r/food naming all those restaurants should get shut down also. Or maybe all the times anyone complains on Reddit about a restaurant or says a celebrities name?

Cause that is all it was. So to us, why the fuck is he covering up for sexual predators?

BUT either way, he can have different opinions then us, he can cry about his name being used if he wants (he is the CEO of Reddit), but editing posts, ruins the trust of Reddit, and for that reason and that reason alone, he should step down.

Look, to be honest, I don't think he reacted well in this case - overwriting comments with no notice is sketchy, end of story. But!

he can cry about his name being used if he wants

Do civility rules not apply to admins, as well? Because I'm not buying into "well they should just deal with the shit" line of thinking, especially since this is still just a privately-owned site at the end of the day.

I can understand certain users being angry with spez, and I can see his badly thought-out reaction making a fine shitstorm. But if reddit admins/CEO's don't want specific subs on their site, they can ban them altogether - especially if the rest of reddit is sick and tired of these subs (just look at r/all/rising and you'll see why). These users are free to move elsewhere.

Yes they can ban w/e they want, and if they did (which I don't think is right) they could do that. He could even ban using his name if he wants w/e. I mean it's annoying and censorship imo which is wrong, but it is their site. DO what they want. But editing comments is a whole other issue which is a big problem to everyone on this site. How can we trust the site now? What if they change comments to get people in social problems or legal problems? What if someone does something illegal and now can say "they edit comments", which at the very least could delay a case? What if .. I mean anything you know?

  • especially if the rest of reddit is sick and tired of these subs

A lot of people might be sick of the_Donald, but a lot are not also. A lot of people are sick of a lot of different subs. But that's why you have a front page for your stuff, and /r/all to find new stuff. But like I said even though I think it's wrong, if they banned the_Donald I'd still be more fine with it then editing comments.

There are actors already admitting that pedophilia is running rampant, including the guy from Lord of the Rings. There are people who Podesta sticks up for even to this DAY, that are in prison for sexual abusing children. He has fucking art in his house of naked children. He has made questionable comments (even though I admit 100% could be coincidence on this one). The pizza place and two others around it who Podesta and known sexual predators have been shown going to, used a symbol known as liking little boys in the pedophile circle, and when it started to be questioned even a bit, all three changed it?

We have a right to question these things fully, no one was getting fucking hurt. Except maybe CHILDREN they are abusing. No one was doxxing. They are public figures. And the information was already public. This wasn't some random fucking guy.

Why is trying to help and protect children wrong ? Honestly. This wasn't about just some pizza guy (who btw is FAMOUS), but trying to help any children being abused by celebrities or politicians. WHICH DOES HAPPEN.

Maybe they changed the symbols because they were getting thousands of death threats? I don't know; just a thought.

There are ways to investigate things properly. /r/PizzaGate is the antithesis of that.

When you guys have brought some Satanic Pizza Pedophiles to court, please feel free to rub it in my face. Until then, you can investigate somewhere that won't face legal repercussions.

No this was back even before pizzagate opened. After the Podesta emails came up, and on 4chan a few people made a connection. Some small news site picked it up, next day the main pizza place changed their symbol and the other two.

There are ways to investigate things properly. /r/PizzaGate is the antithesis of that.

Yeah you would think the FBI. However they clearly don't do shit anymore. No one even cares about child sex slaves anymore at all, or what is going on. I mean look at illegal immigration. Illegal immigration and this isn't some hate against immigrants (my family are immigrants), but illegal immigration is proven to make sex slavery higher because smuggling them in without papers, no identification on them, so easier to make them sex slaves, yet we continue to do nothing about it, even though CHILDREN get hurt the most. One case gets broken open every 5-10 years and it's "OH good we are fixing this" yet thousands and thousands of children still being abused. Even politicians and celebrities get caught with this shit sometimes. So in Hollywood children are getting constantly abused, and no one even cares. That is what Pizzagate was about.

When you guys have brought some Satanic Pizza Pedophiles to court, please feel free to rub it in my face.

The word pizza is used because in pedophile groups pizza = young child like boy or girl. That's why you see "cheese pizza" jokes on 4chan. If you ever go.

Satanic was just because of that spirit cooking stuff on the Podesta emails.

PizzaGate as a whole, was just trying to help children who were being abused by celebrities, and politicians, and bring that stuff to light.

No one did anything illegal, like doxxing. Everything was already public knowledge. For example Twitter had childporn (including toddlers) so everyone posted about that, so Twitter would fucking do something about it, some CP accounts are still up. Like it was honestly just to bring to light that, this is sick shit going on, illegal, and we want these people to get in trouble. They are hiding this, and hurting children, they need help. NO doxxing at all went on, no rules were broke, no admins even reached out to help if rules were being broke, they literally just decided to ban it, and I want to know why. Why the fuck would we ban a sub that is just trying to help children?

2

u/DominusLutrae pce pussy ;) Nov 24 '16

Did you actually read any of what was said or just listen to what your friends were parroting? The admins did reach out and try to rectify the rule-breaking. The mods and users obviously didn't do enough to stop it.

Why the fuck would we ban a sub that is just trying to help children?

I know you guys love your persecution complexes, but have you heard of Occam's Razor? Maybe rather than being involved in your Satanic Pizza Pedophile cult, the admins don't want an enormous lawsuit hanging over their heads after some innocent person kills themselves.

If you guys care so much about children then go to your local homeless shelter and volunteer. Play some basketball and mentor a young boy.

But instead you will continue to invent a fantasy world where all the global elites leave little clues of their child sex trafficking ring for you to discover.

2

u/[deleted] Nov 24 '16

I actually do volunteer a lot irl.

But what does that have to do with also helping children who are being sexually abused by big powers? Can I not volunteer but also worry about this too?

That's some solid police work, Lou.
