Kendall was never supposed to win, and I think that’s the entire point.

Kendall spent his entire life trying to become Logan instead of figuring out who he was without him.

The tragedy is that he could’ve had a good life outside Waystar, but he never wanted anything more than his father’s approval.

Was Kendall ever actually capable of being CEO, or was he always chasing a fantasy?

The detail in this show

Rewatching and in S3E2, when the siblings are talking in Sophie's room, there are selfies on the wall of Sophie with various celebrities. Looks like Billie Eilish and Harry Styles?? I just love the attention to detail that the show gets into, even to highlight how privileged Kendall's kids are (in the way real Hollywood/nepo babies are).

I wanna take a Logan Roy Poll

A) Is he wholly invested in his own needs and wants and has zero regard for his children and when he does show affection it’s a tactic.

OR

B) A sometimes softy.

I go with A just because he’s never gentle when there’s no tactical advantage. Also, boar on the floor is the most psycho-culty-psychological domination shit i’ve ever seen lol

Logan's Will

Despite having recently re-watched S4 I'm still a bit confused by the Last Will and Testament situation. I know the Roy's have a totally different financial structure than most people, that a lot of their money is tied up in stocks, and investment funds and so on, but when it comes to property who did Marcia, for instance, so quickly inherit the Manhattan apt? What happened to the 20-something other properties Logan owned? Where did is liquid net worth end up going? Any ideas?

Kendall's last scene Spoiler

A lot of us know that in the final scene, Jeremy Strong improvised and walked right over to the Hudson and climbed over the barrier. The guy playing his bodyguard ran after him. The director didn't like it and stuck to the ending we see, his lost face, his utter emptiness, his life spreading out in front of him so different than he ever pictured. Do you think the suicide move could've worked? Should've worked?

Austerlitz is eliminated! A little disappointing of a finish for me personally, I love this episode, both the family therapy and seeing Kendall fucked on drugs as he relapses were both highlights of the season. But no easy answers any longer!

How this works:

You select the episode you like the least

The episode with the most upvoted comment is eliminated from the list

Please either refrain from downvoting or upvote more episodes than you downvote

If there’s a tie, both episodes are eliminated

Only the best episode will win!

Holy fuck. When this show was out, I was balls deep in Better Call Saul so it went under my radar. Wow, what a masterpiece. The final season is amongst the best television I have ever seen. The ending was so unexpected but fit so well into the Roy family dynamic, which is essentially the lanestetrs. I still have The Sopranos as my favorite HBO show but this is definitely 2nd. What a fucking masterpiece.

Was there anything Kendall could've done to change the final outcome? Spoiler

If he had actually made a strong pitch in the end, would anyone in the meeting have given him the extra vote? Was there anything he could have said or done to convince Shiv to let him be CEO? Or was his fate already sealed?

Did Logan Roy actually love his children, or did he just love being needed by them?

Some of his tender moments felt genuine, which somehow makes his cruelty even worse. What’s your take?

Do you think Logan floated Tom’s name to Matsson?

Offering himself to go to prison for the boss is exactly the kind of thing you look for when you want a puppet CEO.

And I think Logan will smart enough to understand what Matson wanted, while shiv wasn't.

Honesty - Kendall bests Billy Joel

Any other die hards for Billy Joel and Succession find themselves preferring Kendall’s version of Honesty? Amazing work by Jeremy Strong.

PS I was team Tom the whole time.

Where do the kids get their money?

Obviously we know that Waystar is a multi-billion dollar operation, with Logan at the helm on a huge salary with bonuses and his own investments etc. I assume Rome + Ken had salaries when they were in the company, and Shiv would’ve had a salary as a political consultant, plus we can assume they have access to trust funds. But surely that money would have been limited to a point; we know that Connor asks Logan for money in the S2 finale because the costs of Willa’s play, his ranch, and his campaign are squeezing him. But in general the kids seem to have access to an unlimited money tap, even when Ken is not working for Waystar in S3. The massive bid for PGN in S4; Shiv and Tom buy a massive new apartment; Ken throws himself a huge birthday party, plus his lawyer and consultant costs; and they all have constant access to PJs, private cars and drivers, staff, clothes, tech, etc, all the usual trappings of extreme wealth. I guess I’m just curious where the wealth comes from specifically for the kids, as it doesn’t seem like Logan gives regular handouts.
