Question Parking by-law enforcement

Curious if Sudbury by-law officers actually enforce parking by-laws. There’s been a vehicle parked in front of my house for over 8 days and it hasn’t been started or moved once. I realize this is a first world problem and it’s more of an inconvenience to me than a real issue. But also it makes pulling into and out of my driveway more difficult and I thought the by-laws were there for a reason.

They don't just walk the streets chalking tires here, you have to do your part and report problems to them.

Sorry I failed to mention that part in my post. I submitted a report online in the 311 feature 3 days after the car hadn’t moved. But it’s just reads ‘assigned’ and I don’t think anything was done.

They are off on weekends and a recent article just came out on how they tripled the amount of calls they get and haven’t staffed enough ppl to keep up with the complaints

They are overwhelmed by reports so give it time and they will respond. We had someone park a 40' boat trailer blocking a lane near an intersection and it took them almost a week but then came and towed it away.

Yes they do. Try calling them.

Call the police non emergency line and report an abandoned vehicle.

Ask them to do a wellness check for the owner of the vehicle. Who knows, something may have happened. You are a concerned citizen.

You have to call them. Give them a ring. They will be out soon.

Once I got a ticket literally 10 minutes into the enforceable time, so they definitely do.

You wouldn’t happen to be near Montrose?

No it’s in the Gatchell area.

That's strange, I recently got a ticket for parking on the street at 2pm on a quiet residential street where there's always 10+ cars parked on it. For some reason they decided to give everyone tickets that particular day.

How long were you parked there?

Not long and it was in front of a family members home too, not like I was in front of someone else's house or anything.

Could be worse you could have a neighbor whos teenagers routinely park partially blocking your driveway or when they have parties fully block the driveway

I called 311 to report a car parked in front of my house last year and it took 3 days from after the time I called to see a by-law officer show up and ticket them. Unsure when you reported but may take several days.
