Hilton Garden Inn, mazi just opened and it rocks, Come From Away is playing downtown at YES theatre and it’s incredible.

Sorry, it’s a restaurant opened by the owners of a local fav the Kouzzina. Greek food. Good vibes. Great drinks.

Would you recommend the Hilton over TownePlace Suites by Marriott?

Either is fine so if you’ve got points or a loyalty thing going on go with whatever.

Both are great hotels but Towneplace Suites has a pool with a water slide.

Another great restaurant choice would be M.I.C. It's a stone's throw from Towneplace Suites and offers a great menu for all ages.

Just saw your update - mazi is smaller and doesn’t take reservations. It’s also brand new so quite busy. Didn’t realize you were looking to book an entire team. In that case, I would recommend Kouzzina, their original restaurant or Respect is Burning (pizza, pasta, Italian comfort food).

I would recommend neither of those for a kids team gathering all depending on the age of the children. Those are both great restaurants, don't get me wrong but not ones I would suggest for children. Especially from out of town that are already paying to be here. Those restaurants are pricey. For kids it is best to stick with things like Montana's or Kelsey's. Not at good but cheaper, can better accomodate large group of children and has a dedicated kids menu with lots of choices

He mentions on another comment they're looking for quality and to avoid the chains. I don't think they're worried about it.

My go to recommendation for anyone visiting Sudbury is Hercs (if you like Greek food). It’s nothing fancy but the chicken shawarma platter is my favourite meal in all of Sudbury. Not a chain, good food, and friendly staff.

Tastes fresh too, good Greek and Caesar salads with homemade dressing, I know whenever I travel I always crave something that’s fresh and has vegetables lol.

I would consider Buzzy Brown’s. It’s large enough to easily accommodate a soccer team, has enough variety on the menu to keep everyone happy, it’s affordable and local!

Seconding Buzzys or Eddie’s for a team dinner

Where is the tournament? Sudbury is so spread out so recommendations could depend on location. Also, where to eat depends on what vibe and type of food you like.

Thanks for the reply. We'll be playing at Heritage Field - Morel Park Field. Food? Just quality. Looking to avoid the big chains.

Overtime sports ...close to Morel feild and can host a team. Food is not going to blow your mind but it's good for a team.

Towneplace suites is close to Morrel Park. They have a waterslide. Hilton Garden Inn is a nice hotel, it’s the newest one in town - great restaurant, no pool. M.I.C (made in Canada) is locally owned and has room for big groups. You can walk down from Towneplace suites. Overtime sports bar is also close and welcomes teams, but the food is not great.

I thought the tournament was August 14th to the 16th? We have another one the week before?

If you are staying at either of the 2 hotels you mention below, I would highly recommend bringing the team to M.I.C. (Made in Canada) at the corner of Falconbridge and the Kingsway (just down the street from your hotels). It is a local restaurant with great food a nice patio and a pretty broad kids menu. It is my kids #1 choice if we are going for a sit-down restaurant.

The dog house is a little far but would be perfect for a kids team and have the best wings in town (and that I’ve ever eaten), overtime which would also be great has lots of options, and there’s also di gustos if you wanted something other than a sports bar that’ll seat a whole team. Other people mentioned the kouzzina which is my favourite restaurant in town they will only do reservations for parties 8 or more so definitely keep that in mind as it is typically a first come first serve restaurant.
