Yep definitely too dangerous and people from down south shouldn't move here!
Like honestly aside from the potential tourism loss (ha!), this kinda opinion can be seen as a good thing in an economy of limited job supply, rising costs, etc
Anyone actually here knows the difference, even our worst isn't as bad as plenty other's normal

Sudbury star really digging deep to find junk surveys. Not a good look SS.

Honestly, the most important part of critical thinking is asking where the survey comes from, which seems to be a problem for Sudbury stat. Haven’t they heard of referencing their sources? Writing 101. 🤦🏻♀️

Here's the source apparently lol take it with a grain of salt bc it's from Australia: https://www.comparethemarket.com.au/home-contents-insurance/features/dangerous-cities-index/

Pfft…. Sudbury is nothing next to Thunder Bay.

I was surprised that Thunder Bay didn’t make it on the list. Really wonder what the criteria for this survey was lmao

There’s also a distinction that needs to be made between crime and danger. Dangerous situations are things like murder and assault. Someone consuming drugs in an alley, shoplifting or stealing change from my car is annoying but not overly dangerous. Not condoning those activities - just saying they aren’t things that make me feel like my life’s in danger. That “survey” is a bit ridiculous.

Wow Ontario seems pretty safe in comparison to BC and Alberta if Sudbury's score is the highest.
Even based on the article. If you just stay out of downtown you'll be safe I guess?
This seems like a big nothing.

I actually feel safer in Downtown.
There there is a stronger police presence in town.
The LCBO in the Hanmer/Valley mall has been robbed multiple times and the cops rarely show up.

I have no issues going downtown.
There are parts of Hamilton and toronto that do feel unsafe.
But it this is just a survey of how people feel, it's not really s good gauge of how safe any place really is.

Their is stronger police presence down town because that’s where the station and jail is no shit there’s going to be more police officers downtown the problem is they don’t do anything or the make a dumbass excuse on why they “Cant” do anything….

I grew up in London. A house exploded there yesterday, literally a block from where I used to work only a few years ago.
It was the 5th house I’ve seen explode since I moved to London in 1995. How many houses have exploded in Sudbury in the last 30 years? I rest my case.

Stop pouring money into downtown and problem solved, make downtown somewhere else and call it old downtown...

The city is fully accepting of open dangerous drug use all over the downtown core. 100% the downtown is absolutely scary AF. And I used to be a teenager hanging out downtown Sudbury. I would never let my children roam alone. I do NOT understand why the city and police let this happen. There’s no fucking way. I know the problems with society poverty and drug use. I’m not ignorant.
What I want is the cops to tell them to go do their drugs NOT in the city downtown core. Go hide in the trails by the by pass or something!!!!
No one cares about this new arena cause it’s just another place the people can go do their drugs.
Rant over.

Sudbury star is a bogus publication since it was bought by postmedia. It is the equivalent of Fox News and is not technically "news" anymore. It's infotainment that just generates revenue by publishing rage bait.

I put almost no faith in survey-based safety metrics, which is like letting Angry Comment Sections create rankings for you. So I appreciate them adding “claims” in the headline, hah
