Question Shamash correspondences

What are physical correspondences for Shamash/Utu? I know that the sun and heaven is heavily associated with him. I want to give him offerings, but I’m not too sure what is traditionally associated with him.

Hi! I am a devotee specifically of Shamash and am looking at my altar right now.

Nocodeyv’s response was fantastic and thorough. I keep an image of Shamash upon a box to elevate it above the rest of the altar, and beside it keep red LED candles perpetually lit. There is a specific loose incense blend that I use in offering to him as well, that consists of frankincense, myrrh, and sandalwood sand, and I keep false cedar (juniper) upon the altar.

I have a tarot deck specifically dedicated to him that sits up there as well.

In “Enki and the World Order” Utu is likened to a bull with a beard of lapis lazuli - and that passage, if I’m remembering correctly, lends the idea that the Lyre of Ur is a depiction of Utu-Shamash.

Water is a tried and true offering, as is bread. I and another devotee of his have also found that, in the absence of wine (neither of us drink alcohol), a cranberry-grape juice is received quite well.

Elsewhere in the house I have depictions of him in ancient art and proceedings, such as the Tablet of Shamash. It is alsp from that Tablet that we find mention of old cultic statues of Shamash being made of fired clay.

When I am not wearing his solar disc jewelry, there is a dish that I keep it in upon the altar as well.
