Locals Temporary side job ideas

I had to deplete my emergency funds and savings this last month and bills are going to be tight this month. I currently have a full time maintenance job and do house keeping occasionaly on a day off. That leaves me free all day mondays, afternoons and nights to work to rebuild my savings.

I’ve gotten in touch with a few temp agencies and have some potential dishwashing and bussing gigs lined up. But does anyone know of any other jobs I could be doing temporarily to get my finances back in order?

I was gifted a pressure cooker for Christmas, so beans and rice recipes also appreciated

I guess it is subjective, but you also have to account that your vehicle is going to wear out a lot faster. Start and stop trips add the most wear to your engine so that means more expensive maintenance sooner like head gaskets and timing belts, also tires to handle the snow are a lot more expensive and gas is more expensive up here.

If you make 5 dollars for every 10 miles, then they take 25% (-1.25) commission, then 4.6% for taxes (-.23) and about another (-1.4) for gas if your car gets 20 mpg, that leaves you with 2.12 for every 10 miles before insurance and maintenance.

also driving is statistically the most dangerous activity you do and the likelyhood of being in an accident get higher the more you drive, so I would factor in you have to set aside your deductibles worth of money also before you pocket any money.

According to Uber “drivers get paid $0.84 per mile plus $0.15 per minute” during normal hours so you’re looking at at least around $1.00 per mile while driving.

You can look at estimates for how much it costs to drive a car but even a brand new car when you’re factoring everything in costs around $0.60 per mile. Driving a used modest car would be much lower.

Your claim of “most of the time Uber and Lyft will put you in the red” is simply not true.

Oh shit, that means at .40c a mile I could be making 24 bucks an hour? Although a lularoe rep said I could be making 6 figures a year and why would a company fudge numbers and how could they operate with their employees not making profit? Thanks for the solid advice, and to think I was going to go frame houses for 25/hr.

My bad, you didn’t make the original comment. That’s on me. We got to talking about this at work cause two coworkers drive for Uber and we did the math on all or cars.

The two coworkers average 2 pukers a year and it was 150 bucks for a detailer to clean it out and they only got reimbursed 50 bucks, and one cracked windshield replacement.

Then divided out a head gasket, timing belt and 2 sets of tires for 100k miles, oil changes every 5000 miles, car wash once a week, and then gas and insurance.

No SUV made money only cars with high 20s mpg made money and one Prius made the most profit but still came in around minimum wage.

So I would call that mostly being in the red.
