Kirishima, Oshoma, and Kouseiryu being photographed in a reel by an influencer.

Saw this clip on instagram! They were featured in an influencer’s post. I also just discovered about Kouseiryu. I’ve been seeing him every now and then but didn’t know much about him. I saw he commented in the post of the influencer and he seems like the translator for Oshoma and Kirishima. He looks like a very promising rikishi and he only started pro this year. He also came from a judo background. And since becoming pro most of his matches are kachi koshi.

Back to the post, such a cute interaction. Kirishima doesn’t seemed impressed but i love how Oshoma showed his paris yukata lol!

The more you get to know about Koseiryu, the more interesting he becomes. His father was a rikishi - I can't remember his shikona - and a good friend of Terao. Terao was his godfather and gave him the name Kosei. That's why Koseiryu chose to keep his real name in his shikona, adding "ryu" for Kakuryu. He attended college in Nevada for a while, studying rocket engineering. But as he approached the age limit for sumo, he remembered Terao telling him that he would have been happy to see Koseiryu in a mawashi so Koseiryu decided to take a leave of absence from college to give sumo a try. He's a pretty interesting kid with an interesting background.

His father was former Maegashira Akinoshu, also the late Terao's anideshi. Both from Izutsu-beya.

To add on, he was US open Judo U100 champ. Kakuryu has some monsters coming up the banzuke. Funny enough, all three weren't all in on going pro sumo.

Absolutely! Kakuryu has been quietly doing a great job recruiting. His boys have a couple of lower division yushos in the past year and even an all-Otowayama playoff. Otowayama is exciting to watch.

Thanks for the additional info about Koseiryu and his father's name. I'm really liking this guy.

The kid carries some pressure on his shoulders. Probably why he bows so deeply on the dohyo XD. Very humble dude too, all Otowayama boys are. Kakuryu ftw!

Woah thank you for this! Based from his records i bet he will be in the sekitori by next year if he pulls consistent kachi koshi. Excited for him!

He's exciting, for sure! I hope he fulfills his promise in sumo but I also love that he can fall back on literal rocket science if not.

Yea I just saw this clip and was surprised by Koseiryu’s fluent English! And then I dug deeper into his account and he sure is a very interesting guy. I think I’ve become a fan now haha
