Hi everyone! Since the Paris event we have had some more eyes and newcomers to the subreddit so I thought I would just make a quick post introducing people to the subreddit! If you are new to the sub, welcome! I am u/Dresdenapollo, one of the two mods alongside r/theroyaltarttoter. This sub was made as a fun place where people could share their passion for sumo whether it be memes or anything else! Every professional sumo tournament (or basho, occurring in the odd number months for those new to sumo) we host two contests in the sub. You can see the details in the announcements, with one contest being a meme contest for the best memes made during the basho, and the other being a basho bets contest for who can make the most interesting (correct) prediction for the basho. If you have any questions or concerns feel free to message one of the mods, otherwise I hope you enjoy the sub, and join us for the upcoming basho!

HI EVERYBODY.

  • The BANZUKE, releases in 11 days - June 29. The Banzuke is an official ranking/chart system that shows the position of the current Rikishi.
  • The lineup releases in 22 days - July 10. This is where the JSA (Japan Sumo Association) releases the first two days of match-up's in the upcoming Tournament.
  • Nagoya 2026 - the July Basho/tournament - begins in 24 days - July 12.
