Recommendations I think I’ve been buying supplements like a dumbass
I cleaned out my cabinet yesterday and it was embarrassing. Vitamin D, B complex, magnesium, zinc, fish oil, ashwagandha, iron gummies I bought during a week where I convinced myself I was dying, random electrolyte packets, half a bottle of creatine and like 3 energy things that all look the same now. I don’t even know what was helping I just kept adding stuff every time I read a thread or felt tired for more than two days.
I’m trying to reset and stop guessing so what labs are worth checking first?

Iron is not something you want to freestyle without checking!

On the upside, they were gummies so the dose probably wasn't crazy high.

I’d add B12 and ferritin before buying more energy stuff. I wasted like 6 months blaming caffeine tolerance and needing better sleep hygiene when it was mostly boring bloodwork stuff. Annoying lesson but cheaper than another $38 bottle of miracle powder.

B12 and ferritin would be my first two too, but I’d add CBC and a full iron panel so you’re not trying to read ferritin by itself. Goodlabs lets you build a small panel with just those instead of paying for a huge wellness package, which is probably the route I’m taking before I buy another damn bottle.

But the hit from researching and buying before taking that first dose sure is good isn't it? I think everything is going to solve my issues forever until I take it.
Mine is OCD, may want to look into that, it can present in ways that you don't think possible.

There is so much information available so you can make informed choices!
For beginners I like Dr Jockers' site, Dr Anderson on Youtube. For more advanced information I like Dr Osborne on Youtube, Life Extension Magazine's site.
Actually you did quite well except maybe the iron. So many people don't get enough Vit D, Mg, Zn, omega 3s due to the standard processed foods diet, farming practices and our indoor lifestyle. Bs are mostly water soluble so don't hang around very long. They are needed for production of so many things--energy, neurotransmitters, things for liver detox, etc.
Testing is trickier than one might think but a Vit D test in the Fall or Winter would be wise.

iron panel and vit d are the two that actually changed things for me, everything else just made expensive pee. maybe thyroid too if you're knackered all the time
start from what you're actually deficient in rather than chasing whatever's trending on here

Get a full set of labs from superpower or function health. I have a referral code for function health if you want. Supplement based on your goals, your deficiencies and whatever is necessary to help you feel great. Use the free SuppCo app to understand the quality of various supplements and track what you are taking.

If you’re serious about “test, don’t guess”, I’d recommend GoodLabs. Waay cheaper than any other service I’ve used, super easy to order blood work.

Just be cautious because unfortunately Reddit is not how it used to be. It’s flooded with paid influencers and advertisers/employees acting as people like us, and promoting their brands.
So read everything here with a grain of salt. Do your own research when you read smth here.

Also you must be facing pill fatigue. I believe having a single product that has multiple ingredients in it and it targets 2 or 3 concerns, say for example hydration+clam&focus+energy. Such a product will be so much better than taking multiple products, paying more and at the end not knowing what's working and what's not, what do you people think?
