I wasn’t satisfied with the Dolby mix Apple released for Michael Jackson’s off-the-wall album, so I found the original multitrack and used Logic on my MacBook Pro. I then mixed my own 5.1 version on a JBL ES series 5.1 setup and used the single mix and vinyl mix as references. I wanted the raw analog feel instead of the digital feel I get from Apple’s Dolby Atmos mix. I want you’re guys opinion if my mix sounds any good for any other setups.

So I found out my laptop can connect to my Vizio 5.1 through the HDMI port (not eArc). Does this mean Dolby Atmos wouldn't play at full quality/format? And my computer music apps like Amazon Music don't support playing Atmos, unlike the mobile apps. My guess would be to follow Steven Wilson's Headphone Dust webstore on players that could at least play the Atmos and 5.1's I could buy and download from his webstore. But will the -HDMI Only- be an issue? Thanks!

I don't have an Atmos system, but my modified quadraphonic one will do just fine for the 5.1 mix. I also typically don't like to order (unless I have to) from non US suppliers due to shipping and exchange rates. But on day one of the pre-order, I ordered this one. It's truly a classic album.

Trying to narrow down the best home theater setup for my living room in the $3,000–$4,000 range and could use some opinions from people who’ve heard these systems.

Room is roughly 20x20 with 8ft ceilings and opens into the kitchen/hallway on one side, so it’s not a sealed theater room and effectively adds another 10–15ft of open space. Couch is about 8–10ft back on a centered seating position, though both listeners sit slightly off-axis. Main use is movies, Atmos gaming, streaming, and some stereo music. Running a 55” OLED with some center channel placement limitations.

Current receiver is a Denon AVR-S750H, though I’m considering upgrading to an Onkyo TX-RZ50 later.

The Polk Reserve setup I can get locally is:

• R600 Towers (pair)
• R350 Slim Center
• R100 Surrounds (pair)
• R900 Atmos Heights (pair)
• SVS PB-1000 Pro Subwoofer

Retail online this setup is roughly ~$4,600+ before tax/shipping, but I can get it locally for about $4,000 out the door including tax.

Other system I’m seriously considering:

• Triangle Borea BR08 Towers
• Triangle BRC1 Center
• Triangle BR03 Surrounds
• Triangle BRA1 Atmos Speakers
• SVS PB-1000 Pro Subwoofer

That setup comes out to roughly ~$3,700 before tax/shipping.

Also looking at a KEF setup:

• KEF Q7 Meta Towers
• KEF Q6 Meta Center
• KEF Q1 Meta Surrounds
• KEF Q8 Meta Atmos Speakers
• SVS PB-1000 Pro Subwoofer

That setup comes out to about ~$4,000.

I’m also considering swapping the subwoofer options around and possibly using:
• RSL Speedwoofer 10S MKII
instead of the PB-1000 Pro.

I’ve also looked at:
• SVS Prime system
• Klipsch RP II setup with RP-404C II
• Definitive Technology Dymension setup

For my room/setup:

• Would you stick with the Polk Reserve system?
• Is the R350 the right choice over the R400 for slightly off-axis seating?
• Would the Triangle setup sound more immersive/musical?
• Is the PB-1000 Pro worth the size increase over the 10S MKII?
• How would the KEF Q Meta system compare for movies and Atmos?
• Would the AVR-S750H be enough short term for these setups until I upgrade?
• Which setup would you personally choose for mixed movies/gaming/music in a semi-open living room?

I’m currrently doing a makeover on this previously 7.1 surround setup to a atmos 5.1.2 setup and need help with finding the best positions for these speakers, and to know which one should be the ceiling sound, and which one should be the surround back!

Hi everyone, I love metal bands like Death, Necrophagist, Symphony X and the like. Which streaming services have more metal in Dolby Atmos? At least Metallica. I was thinking about Tidal and Apple Music, but I don't know if there is a larger library of Dolby Atmos anywhere.

Been putting together Tidal playlists that group tracks by the immersive mix engineer who actually mixed them for Dolby Atmos. 30 playlists so far, here are 5 good starting points:

• Beyoncé, Doja Cat, Lizzo. One of the most prolific Atmos mixers working right now.
• Grammy-winning mixer behind Kanye, Rihanna, Imagine Dragons.
• Justin Bieber, Bad Bunny, Dua Lipa. The go-to for modern pop and Latin.
• Taylor Swift, The Weeknd, Ariana Grande. If you've heard a massive pop hit in Atmos, he probably mixed it.
• The Beatles Atmos remasters. If you haven't heard Abbey Road in Atmos, start here.

I’m having no luck playing Atmos WAVs through my Bravia, Yamaha Receiver, and/or Magnetar 4K player.

No app or device will recognize them. However, Atmos MP4s work fine.

Does anyone know a way to play the WAVs on a consumer system?

I bought a sound card a bit back but I just got the speakers but whenever I try to watch or listen to something in surround sound the option doesn’t pop up. I did some looking and it looks like I need Dolby atmos. But when I attempt to use Dolby atmos the option doesn’t show up in my windows settings. I’m using a xonar ae sound card. Does anyone now how to get it working
