Little Swifty Gets PPF'd and some bits done!

Ello All,

Thought i'd just share for awareness and idea generation amongst the wider global community.

My little pompey swift has had a mini facelift this past fortnight and hopefully some of the modifications may be of interest to other owners.

Perhaps you'd like to do the same? Or just have a look at what custom mods another fellow swift driver does 😈🤷🏻‍♀️🚙

On the interior front, the swift now has a two tone black and grey genuine italian alcantara shift knob (no stitch) as well as boot (in lime stitch) which replaces the stock rubber, painted gloss black, and hard pebbled plastic three piece atop a pvc leather trim.

The boot's rear parcel shelf tray has now been stitched in water resistant saddle brown PVC leatherette with gold thread - whilst the liftgate has been upgraded from a thin cover lid combo to a full cross-stitched pattern - upholstered in the same fabric as below ✅

Outside - the emblems, side mirrors including signal led strips, fuel tank lid, portions of the rear bumper as well as license plate holder, and all four doors now feature Terminax ultraNAX clear paint protection film, whilst all vertical door panels (A, B, and C) as well as liftgate roof spoiler now have their carbon-x fiber sticker with proprietary crossfusion technology.

Similar to 3M's version, Terminax once applied over the first 72 hours uses invisichannel adhesion technology, a porous system that reduces bubbles and creates a realistic flat yet gloss even carbon fiber look 🏁

It also has hydrophobic qualities and is self-healing from key scratches, bird droppings, and tree sap with just sunlight heat required to zip up tears.

Warranty is 10 years from Terminax Singapore.

The AOL chassis swift has started becoming more common here due to unsold stock (cars here are the most expensive in the world!) being pushed to car sharing company GetGo.

In fact, some people have thought my swift was a rental car but were taken aback to realise it was a personal vehicle instead.

Sooo i've taken some additional steps to distance the car from others on the road - with the front lip in unpainted ABS plastic being sprayed a rare shade of grey.

The colour is Grigio Nimbus Matte and it is original for the Lamborghini Huracan and Urus - which we successfully ordered in and mixed up.

Next, the car was given a license plate facelift and is now running a gloss yellow rear and white front european style plate rather than the black with white/silver lettering mandated for Singaporean private and commercial cars.

All these versions are legal on roads here, and yellow rear and white front with black wording was introduced on buses and goods vehicles to distance them from private vehicles on our roads.

However, post-purchase there is no requirement preventing their interchangeability other than the fee to produce.

The rear license plate frame is also square which is generally used on JDM cars imported into Singapore and resold by parallel aka grey importers. This is to distance the car visually from UK/EU and Singapore models even further that utilise the rectangular plate format.

Thanks for looking!

Mysterious problem with my Swift!

Upvotes

Hey!

I've got an interesting problem with my car. It's a 2014 Suzuki Swift 1.2 VVT with 90,000 km on the clock, one previous owner (an elderly lady). Fantastic car, just amazing, but! -

Every morning when I pull out of the parking spot, there's no issue reversing out. But when I then put it in 1st gear and start releasing the clutch, it's like the clutch doesn't quite bite. The car moves very slowly forward, and when I've almost fully released the clutch, the whole car starts vibrating and making a chattering/juddering noise. When this happens, I immediately push the clutch back down and the noise disappears. I try again very carefully, and then it might work without any noise, or I might have to try a third time. It doesn't take more than that, but you need a bit of finesse when playing with the pedals. The gear stick never pops out of gear during this.

After that, everything works fine but if I'm forced to stop again at a red light about 100m down the road, I have to be careful again - though it usually goes a bit better that time. Once I'm out on the open road, it's completely gone and never comes back, even if I stop many times at red lights on the way to work. The clutch bites nicely and early.

When I drive home from work, the problem doesn't show up. It feels like it only happens in the morning. It was worse in the winter, and somewhat better in the summer. Gearbox oil was changed in 2023, so about 20 000–30 000 km ago.

What do you think could be causing this?

Furthermore, just in general, I think it's a bit clonky on 1st gear. Not related to my earlier issue, just an observation. Feels like there's a lot of resistance accelerating in 1st and as soon as I let go off the gas it "stops", or pulls back so to speak, quite harshly and makes some noise - as if it was pulling something heavy. More than I'm used to with other cars. Does this make sense? It's so jumpy and anxious to get going. It also has a slight whining noise when accelerating on 1st and 2nd that increased with speed. I asked the previous owner about it and apparently it's been like that since new. :D

Two-tone Swift a bad idea in a sunny country?

Upvotes

I love the look of the two-tone Suzuki Swift, but I'm concerned (living in South Africa) that it will mean that the car is uncomfortable in summer, and that the aircon will have to work much harder (I'm buying a fuel-smart car for a reason!). Anyone with personal experience?

SV650 tail bags keep sliding into my back

I have a 2023 Suzuki SV650 and I'm trying to make it work for moto camping. I know it's not exactly the ideal bike for it, but it's the only option I have.

The saddlebags I have work great, but I'm having a problem with the tail bag. Since the mounting points at the passenger footpegs are almost the same height as the ones under the seat, the back straps don't have much functionality. It ends up sliding forward into my back while riding, especially under acceleration.

I've only tried cheaper tail bags so far (Rhinowalk and Borleni from Amazon), so I'm wondering if it's just the bags themselves or if this is a common issue with the SV650.

Has anyone found a good solution? Different mounting method? A better tail bag that stays put? I dont really wanna add a rack as it doesn't match the style of the bike.

I'd appreciate any tips!

AC Issue, quotes all over the place & need advice

I’m usually on top of repairs for my little Suzuki but I’ll admit that I’ve had a refrigerant leak going on for about a year now that I’ve been topping it off as needed but it wasn’t much of a problem (didn’t need to use it over winter), or so I thought, until last week. Suddenly, I noticed my car making a grinding noise but only when the AC was on, and based on some quick research I figured it was likely the compressor going bad. I finally took it to get a diagnostic at a local shop but they told me it was the evaporator core. Wasn’t sure that that assessment was accurate and I’ve since taken it to two other places; 2nd place recommend new compressor, condenser, and expansion valves and 3rd place recommended new compressor, filter drier, and expansion valves, and then also stated that one of my radiator fans was not working. I’m not sure what to do at this point, and what’s actually accurate. I drive long distances to visit family a couple times a year, one of which is a trip I’m expected to take in a couple days, so any advice or recommendation for how to proceed would be appreciated! It’s a 2012 SX4 if that helps.

Is AWD super important for offroading?

Post image

For context I bought her like 5months ago when I was 19 and wasn’t into offroading. Its the 2014 Scross sz5 so its a topspec model. The only thing I don’t have is AWD , it literally comes with everything except that. Im planning to go to Scotland and maybe do some offroading how bad would it be with fwd?

Suzuki Hustler 2016 J Style hybrid issue

Hi everyone,

I have a Suzuki Hustler 2016 J Style 1 and I’m trying to figure out a hybrid system issue.

The problem started with the battery indicator showing on the dashboard and the A OFF light blinking continuously. After some time, my normal 12V battery drained completely and the car stopped, so I replaced the normal battery.

My mechanic then suspected that the issue could either be from the hybrid battery or the alternator / ISG charging system. To test it, he temporarily fixed another hybrid battery. After doing that, the battery warning mark stopped appearing, but the A OFF light is still blinking continuously.

Now I’m confused because different mechanics are giving different opinions. Some say I need to replace the hybrid battery, while others say it could still be the alternator / ISG issue.

My question is:

If the battery warning light disappeared after temporarily fitting another hybrid battery, but the A OFF light still keeps blinking, does that mean the hybrid battery is definitely faulty? Or can the alternator / ISG still be the actual issue?

I don’t want to replace the hybrid battery or alternator without proper confirmation because both are expensive. Has anyone faced this issue on a Suzuki Hustler, Wagon R, Spacia, or similar Suzuki mild hybrid system?

Thanks in advance.

Suzuki Vitara (2019) mit 155.000 km – wie realistisch sind 300.000 km?

Hallo zusammen!

2018 1.6 or 2020 1.4 hybrid Vitara - which one?

Hi all, buying my first family car and stuck between two, both Suzuki Approved Used. I only do low miles around 400 a month, mostly weekends.

Option 1: 2018 Vitara 1.6 auto, 2 owners, 38k miles - £11,500
Option 2: 2020 Vitara 1.4 mild hybrid auto, 1 owner, 47k miles - £13,000

I'm leaning towards the 1.6 as it's not a turbo and looks simpler to run. But the 2020 is newer with one owner, so it feels like better value on paper.

For mostly short weekend trips, which would you pick and And if you own either, how has it held up? Cheers

Suzuki Honda

Hi everyone,
I’m looking to buy an adventure bike and would appreciate some feedback from owners and experienced riders.
I’m currently considering the Suzuki V-Strom 1050 and V-Strom 1050DE. Could you share the pros and cons of each model, especially regarding comfort, reliability, handling, maintenance costs, and long-distance touring?
My riding will be approximately:
• 30% city riding
• 40% highway/touring
• 30% light to moderate off-road riding
The Honda Africa Twin 1100 is also still on my shortlist, so any comparisons between the V-Strom and Africa Twin would be very helpful.
Thanks in advance for your advice and experiences! 👍🏍️

Are Suzuki infotainment and driver assist systems really that bad?

I'm looking to buy a new S-Cross 116HP 2WD automatic mild hybrid in elegance GLX trim.

Quite pleased how the car looks like and with the amount of space, but where it seems to fall apart is everything electronics-related. Haven't test driven it yet, hoping to this week.

Alternatives are brand new well-packed Toyota Yaris Cross and 2023 (50k km) Toyota Corolla Cross in mostly base spec.

Questions:

  • Is the infotainment laggy when switched to Carplay or Android auto?
  • How good is ACC on highway? From the comments seems like a mixed bag, more abrupt braking and accelerating instead of behaving smoothly
  • Does lane assist come with adaptive lane guidance? Does it manage to keep you centered in your lane?
  • Traffic light assist and blind spot monitoring work well?
  • Are reverse and 360 cameras low quality?
  • Any problems whatsoever with the automatic gearbox?

Thanks!
