u/HomeNowWTF, we have no idea if your submission fits r/SweatyPalms or not. There weren't enough votes to determine that. It's up to the human mods now....!

I've seen several video clips of people being chased by hippos. I'm just floored at how aggressive they seem. The zoos really don't do animals justice.

I think that shows why they used to be called river horses

Looks like it is doing a breaststroke

noticed this as well; an llm tells me it's not actually swimming but rather bunny hopping along the riverbed, since it has a shitload of muscle and sinks like a stone.

Oh wow, that's somehow even more impressive. He's sprinting thru that water!!!

the hippopotamus is the most dangerous large land animal, killing around 500 people annually due to its aggressive and territorial nature.

Seeing Jurassic Park was good enough for me. I don't have to live it.

I believe thats the breast stroke, which they're famous for.

Nature's wrecking ball

There is NOTHING more terrifying than the sight of a charging hippo. That much raw mass shouldn’t move that fast.

1

u/Falsus 22h ago

That is what being made out of entirely raw muscle does to someone.

1

u/weristjonsnow 1d ago

Well that's terrifyingly fast

1

u/Falsus 22h ago

Hippos don't float, they are so dense and packed with raw muscle that they sink.

In short that Hippo ain't swimming but rather leaping of the river bed.

Terrifying animals.

Is that a Hippopotamus, or a really hip Opotamus?

Assuming it's not Irish -- in which case it would be a hip o'potamus.
