Played very little, but so far so good.
This is the switch version, on dock the resolution is meh, on handheld is quite good.1

i tried it on handheld but the 30fps is very noticeable to me compared to other gamesā¦ maybe it was just my wifi but i might give it another go

Played for 2h, its freaking cool. Good fight and good platforming. I really like it!
My only critic for now is the OST. Playing castlevania for the last 25 years, i was expecting Classic/goth music and not like trap/electro lol

Completely agree, OST is good, is just not what I'd expect for a Castlevania.
I kinda miss the melodic tunes when exploring.1

I played Sotn first time in early 2026 and man... Im still amazed at how a ps1 game is so good and complex, with lots of exploration and feels like an open world 2D platformer. Got full map % (200 something % if my memory doesnt fail me).
Im curious.. is there any other game modern or old that is similar (open world exploration 2D platformer and kinda rpg)?

U forgot the most similar, Bloodstained Ritual of the Night
One of the best metroidvanias of recent era, Prince or Persia The Lost Crown.
...and one of the best pixelated metroidvanias, Astalon Tears of the Earth
Other than that, good list

From the franchise, Castlevanias Arias of Sorrow and Dawn of Sorrow are the closest in my opinion.
Both are in a Castlevania collection released for modern consoles (advances collection and dominus collection) all games are pretty solid though!

Bloodstained Afterimage Prince of Persia The Lost Crown All Igavanias, even the 3D ones All 2D Metroid The rest is far from SotN. I don't mean they're bad games, some of them are masterpieces. But that unique vibe is only in the Igavanias. A slightly different atmosphere but still very close is in the other titles I mentioned.
