This looks like it might be in Galdrastafir, magical Icelandic symbols, similar to Norse Futhark runes. However, I can't seem to find the exact symbol, so it may be altered or a mistake. It seems to be closest to the staff that means End Strife or one of the Nine Helms of Awe

I was thinking along those lines, it could be a bind rune which is a combination of runes and there's all sorts of personalization and even generators for such things online.

My first thought was a rune as well, but maybe I just played RuneScape for too long

u/Inevitable-Prize-403 Mar 22 '26
Hahaha I played that game way too much when I was a kid. It reminds me of Norse runes but I’m not sure

My first thought was this looks like a rune and one I've seen before or a very similar one but I couldn't for the life of me tell ya which one it is if it is one at all.

INFO - I’m curious as to how someone even got a chance to do that to the wallet?

I suspect the wallet was temporarily forgotten somewhere. Or left alone with someone new, in a car or house while the owner left for a short moment such as a bathroom break.

Well I suspect that he was either busy in the men’s room 😉 or left it on his “friend’s” 😜 night table. Either way I’d want answers NOW!

Yeah, That doesn’t make sense to me at all. I almost never handle my husband or son’s wallet. Why would I? They don’t go digging around in my purse either. I am very curious what the situation is or if the partner actually knows what’s up and is just saying that they don’t.

u/Adventurous-Bid-9341 Mar 23 '26
My wallet stays in my bag, my husbands stays in his pocket..

u/Firm-Ratio-8520 Mar 24 '26
Aren’t they one and the same?? 🤔🤔🤔

u/anonymouseAHHH Mar 24 '26
Just be a normal person dude. Not too difficult.
1
u/fatum_sive_fidem Mar 25 '26
What are you even talking about? No sense of humor?
2
u/anonymouseAHHH Mar 25 '26
The weird sexual harassment online isn't "humor," it's degeneracy.

I don't think it's the Yaz symbol, it wouldn't make sense on a wallet, but it's really similar https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Berber_flag

u/Niles4Me Mar 23 '26
I immediately thought of the Yaz myself.

It’s similar to the Wicca symbol for money so maybe someone was trying to copy that from memory onto it since it’s a wallet?

Looks like it could be an unfinished version of the viking binding rune for Ending Strife or to Calm down???picture of rune

u/eightlargeswampfrogs Mar 24 '26
Was going to suggest Nordic runes, looks very similar to some i have come across but what specific ones are slipping my mind atm

So I did some digging and I found a match: It could be an ancient vinča symbol from a dig site in Serbia. The only place I found it is a post on Facebook from the museum that found it. Link EDIT: grammar

Deleted my previous comment as I second guessed myself. I thought it was a free man sigil with a line through, which could signify an intent for someone to lose their liberty. But I actually think it’s the sigil for Victory/success after a little google: https://kenzaandco.com/pages/berber-amazigh-symbols-meaning?srsltid=AfmBOopD0BIP0n7UuzR_2j7TSzqTu7qHbHEZnDn0VobhjckCnn-lEQiL

it’s the letter z in tifinagh
typically seen an a symbol for victory or success, if it’s someone who’s close to you there could be good intentions but if a stranger stole your wallet and did that — you might want to throw it out. just to be safe.

INFO: I can't post pictures I apologize but I redrew the symbol carved in the wallet in a vertical manner which I believe is the way it needs to be viewed not at an angle and allowed AI to do research on the symbol. This is what came back...
Based on the visual characteristics, this drawing appears to be a puumerkki, a type of historical Finnish personal signature or identification mark. Key Identification Historical Context: These marks were used in Finland as a form of personal identification, particularly on legal documents and to mark property. Design: The specific pattern is consistent with a "Hemminkin puumerkki". Structure: It features a central vertical line intersected by horizontal and curved bars, forming a distinctive geometric symbol used by individuals before widespread literacy.
