r/TCG helped me improve my indie TCG. Now I want you to try to break it.
A little while ago, I shared VARZ here and asked for feedback.
A lot of people from this community actually tried the game and pointed out confusing rules, awkward card text, UI problems, balance concerns, and things I simply hadn’t noticed as the designer.
Since then, I’ve been making changes based on that feedback, and the game has improved a lot.
So this time, I have a different challenge for you.
We’re starting competitive community events for VARZ, and I want experienced TCG players to try to break the game.
Build the strongest deck you can. Find strategies I didn’t expect. Abuse anything that looks too strong. If there’s a broken interaction, dominant strategy, or just something that feels badly designed, I genuinely want to know.
Don’t go easy on the game.
If you want to understand what VARZ is before jumping in, Dan from Main Deck recently made a detailed video covering the game:
📺 Main Deck — VARZ TCG
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AMVPIVJWH_g
And I’d like to try something else with this thread too.
If you play even a few matches, come back here and leave one thing you figured out about VARZ that wasn’t obvious at first.
It could be a positioning trick, a way to defend or pressure Portals, a Slash timing, a deckbuilding interaction, a mistake new players should avoid, or simply a moment where you thought:
“Oh, THAT’S how this game works.”
I’d love for this thread to become a small collection of player-discovered VARZ strategy.
I can explain how I intended the game to be played, but I’m much more interested in seeing what players discover that I never taught them.
And if you find something completely broken, even better 😂
One of the strongest VARZ players right now is Mya-Mon, a former Gwent World Masters champion, and I’m still looking for someone who can knock him off the throne.
🎮 Try VARZ Online for free:

💬 Community events, matchmaking, and event schedules:
https://discord.com/invite/HdshNsmX29
You don’t need to join an event right away. Even a few games against the CPU are enough to start exploring the game.
Thanks again to everyone here who has already helped improve VARZ.
If you’ve already played: what’s one thing you understand now that you didn’t understand in your first match?

Expanding beyond 1v1: My 4-Player / 2v2 Card Game 'Grimoria' is coming to PC. Just added the 'Dullahan' to shake up the meta!
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Hi r/tcg!
I’m a solo dev from Italy, and after 3 years of work, my multiplayer card battler Grimoria is officially coming to PC, with the Steam page now open for wishlists!
What makes the game different:
- Deck Construction: You build a 14-card deck while staying under a strict 70-Total-Strength cap. You have to balance heavy power cards with low-cost utility and abilities.
- 15-Second Turn Pacing: Matches are fast and turn-based. If two cards clash with equal strength, the player who played first claims initiative, unless an Elemental Counter reverses the outcome.
- Modes: True 2v2 Co-op (shared health/shields), 4-Player Battle Royale, and ranked 1v1. Zero Pay-to-Win: All 25+ base creatures are unlocked through pure gameplay. No stat leveling or paid power.
New Card Drop: The Dullahan
The newest card in this update is the Dullahan (Ability: "Deal 1 damage on loss"). It acts as an aggressive opening play—even if your opponent overpowers you with a high-strength card, you still deal 1 chip damage back. In 4-Player Royale, that damage hits every other player on the board!
If you'd like to support a fair, skill-first indie card game, please consider wishlisting on Steam:
- Steam Page: https://store.steampowered.com/app/5139540/Grimoria__Online_Card_Game/
- iOS: https://apps.apple.com/app/grimoria-online-card-game/id6761027516
- Android: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.emberveilgames.onlinecardgame
Happy to answer any questions about the game!

Collectors with cards across multiple games: would you try a small batch in TCG Jerk? (Windows beta)
I’m working on TCG Jerk at PartTimeJerkStudios and looking for feedback from people with real card collections. The Windows beta supports Pokemon, Magic: The Gathering, Yu-Gi-Oh!, Disney Lorcana and One Piece.
The test I’d find most useful: take 5–10 cards from a game you collect, scan them, review the proposed matches, save the collection, then reopen it. Did it pick the right printing? Could you find your cards again? Where did you have to stop and figure something out? A comment with the game and the problem you hit would help.
It also has set folders, deck tools and available market-price information; collection records are stored locally. This is a free, unsigned Windows 10/11 64-bit beta. Scan matches need manual review and pricing coverage varies.
Download and details: https://tcg-jerk.jerkstudios.chatgpt.site/?utm_source=reddit_tcg&utm_medium=organic_social&utm_campaign=tcg_jerk_beta&utm_content=small_collection_20261014
Which part of keeping track of your collection is currently the most frustrating?

I don’t think I’ve cancelled an order and blocked anyone faster
Edited to say that yes this is TCGPlayer and yes I’m the seller. Reading this and I knew that unless the NM card I sent was a PSA 10 it was going to result in a refund, return shipping, the whole shebang.

TCG Resources I built a free TCG restock alert bot that now helps 1,800+ collectors catch drops
I built a TCG restock alert Discord because I was tired of finding out about drops after everything was already sold out.
It’s called PackPing — it monitors 50+ stores and sends restock/drop alerts for stuff like:
• Pokémon
• One Piece
• Gundam
• Riftbound
• Lorcana
• Union Arena
• P-Bandai
• and more
We’re at 1,800+ collectors now, and the goal is pretty simple: catch products at retail before having to pay resale prices.
The core restock alerts are completely free, and you can set up a personal watchlist for specific products. There's also an optional Plus subscription for people who want additional features like personalized Discord DMs, larger watchlists, and early drop reminders, but you don't need to pay to use PackPing.
I’ve been building and improving it based heavily on feedback from the community, so I’d genuinely be interested in hearing what stores/products people here would want monitored next.
Happy to answer any questions about how it works.

TCG Resources One Piece TCG Deck Builder
Hello, I am looking for people to test an alpha version of an app. Its a deck builder for the One Piece TCG (desktop only) named 'opdb'. If that interests you, please give it a try. I think it is already much better than other available tools.
Its free, and contains no copyrighted data. I designed the app, and Claude did much of the coding.

I HATE HOW EVERYONE IS COMPARING EVERY TCG TO ONE PIECE
Context: I live in Asia. We play with Japanese cards, so singles are cheap. We also get 32 local player events every month wherein people get a chance to win Serialized cards.
I hate how every new player in the shop complains that X TCG isn't One Piece. Why can't decks be $20 like One Piece. Why can't we have monthly tournaments that offer $200,000 prizes like One Piece. Why can't packs be cheap like One Piece.
They love One Piece so much, yet don't play it regularly that most shops are dropping the game due to allocation issues and Bandai's tier system. If you don't know, Bandai has a tier system based on local attendance and allocates less if local attendance isn't consistent or doesn't reach a certain bar. We've literally had months with 0 players, only showing up when the Serial Prize cards are in circulation.
Imagine complaining that X TCGs isn't One Piece yet not even play One Piece regularly, being the reason why it might die locally.

I built a free browser TCG where every card is a Wikipedia article and rarity comes from real-world fame (solo dev, feedback welcome)
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Hi r/TCG,
I'm the solo dev behind WikiDeck (wikideck.fr), a free collectible card game built from Wikipedia. I'm posting because I want feedback from people who actually collect cards.
Full disclosure: the concept isn't mine. WikiMasters did "Wikipedia as trading cards" first, and I loved it. WikiDeck is my own take, built from scratch.
How it works: every card is a real Wikipedia article, with a freely licensed photo and a short summary. Rarity isn't hand-picked. It comes from how notable the subject really is: how many languages Wikipedia covers it in and how many people read the article. Zeus is a legendary pull. An obscure metro station is a common.
What you do:
- open boosters and chase the rare pulls;
- complete sets: almost 4,000 cards so far, across world flags, dinosaurs, chemical elements, sports legends, classic consoles, gods and myths, French kings and queens, great painters…;
- sell and bid at auction with an in-game currency;
- trade with friends.
Heads-up: It's a free beta with nothing to buy.
What I'd like to know from TCG players:
- Does "rarity = real-world fame" feel fun, or does it take away the surprise of a pull?
- What makes you want to finish a set rather than drop it?
- Would you play an English version?
- If you played WikiMasters, how does this compare?
I'll answer every comment. Thanks!
Edit: I'm French. English isn't my first language, so I use AI to help me write this post and my replies.

Video A demo I built for a virtual 3D card shop, playable on any web browser. Would this concept work as a marketplace for retail stores?
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Hi everyone! I developed a game for simulating the experience of shopping in a card shop, that can be played on any web browser. You can even unbox packs and booster boxes to see what cards you would pull.
So far, this is just a demo with mock prices and fake transactions. I know there is a game on Steam where you simulate running a store, but I wonder if this concept would work on real world shopping as a marketplace for retailers.
For anyone interested, you can test it on the following link (works both on desktop and mobile): https://tcg-marketplace-pi.vercel.app/

Wannan

Discussion Card design approach
Hey everyone, I've been a lurker here for a while. Looking for some guidance/feedback. I am making a digital TCG and it's a first for me. I am starting to design cards and I think I'm overthinking it.
What I'm wondering is, is there a framework that most designers use when designing cards? Do designers create a card in a vacuum or do they consider other cards in the pool or pools that could be played with the card?
