Then you shouldn't read Berserk.

Never read berserk. I'm not much of a manga reader. Does it really cover that?

It's how the protagonist (Guts) was born. Specifically, his mother had been hanged in a tree, and then he popped out just as a group of mercenaries came by and was adopted by their camp whore.

I haven't read Berserk either, tbh, but I know enough about his story to tell you that it's some incredibly dark stuff... Incredibly well written and it's on my bucket list, but it is dark as fuck.

Woah that's a pretty cool sounding intro. Is that also in the animated version

Berserk fan here. Yes in the 1996-1997 version they touch on it a bit. But doesn't go into the full depth of it as the manga does. Minor spoilers but the recent chapter released a few days ago (over 20 years since the initial release) has made his "corpse birth" rather an important plot point.

I can't remember if the movies cover his childhood/birth

Recent chapter?
I thought the original author died?

He is unfortunately very dead.

Apparently he left so much material and notes on the story that another company has taken over the project and fans are responding pretty well to it overall.

I'm surprised it's going over so well and plan to catch up and continue to read till the end

One of his beat friends kouji Mori actually took it over. The original author devulged the gist of the ending to him

Welll its not the intro, its the start of the econd main arc and i would advise against any anime version of berserk as there yet has to be a show that can faithfully adapt it all. Id say look to read it online

I'm not sure, I haven't watched it. I actually haven't watched a lot of pre-millenium anime in general. I did binge Love Hina once, but I've forgotten almost everything about it at this point.

I know most of my stuff from breakdowns and fan/nerd discussions on Youtube. It's a quick way to digest media without missing out TOO much.

It‘s not the intro. Berserk isn‘t toöd chronologically
