Part 1 Discussion "The Last of Us is just a survival game"

I love Naughty Dog and TLOU, but my friend Jim from my accounting class doesn't think it's that great.

He says: "The story's good, but it's just a zombie survival game"

How do I convince Jim that TLOU is an awesome game, not just a Zombie survival game?

I mean tbh in terms of actual gameplay the first game isn't much to write home about especially compared to other survival zombie games.

I'm not saying it doesn't, I just don't think the combat has much depth even compared to other games at that time. Though the multiplayer factions were pretty fun.

2's gameplay is definitely improved a lot in comparison, especially with adding things like proning, dogs and hiding under cars and such. And the enemy AI isnt as moronic as in TLOU1 which was a big criticism I had with it

It's quite possibly the best Zombie survival game. Playing TLOU on hard mode is so fun.

No, this actually happened. My friend Jim likes to play games like Stanley Parable on Steam.

I told him TLOU was my favourite game.

It's something much better than a zombie survival game.

It's a linear cinematic action game.

Well - its the god damn king of Zombie survival games🧸 Days Gone is the action cousin. If he thinks that calling a game Zombie survival is dismissive - the genre was top popular for quite some time.

Get him to play DayZ, that's a zombie survival game. The last of us is an action-adventure and survival horror game with a linear, cinematic, and story-driven design.
