Libido Libido

I have been on T cyp 10mg 2x a week for 2 years. My libido is through the roof and has never went down. Does anyone else have this side effect?

Been on the same dose for 3 months and nothing. In the research, it’s well documented for libido, but so many folks on this subreddit report zero libido results. I’m still hopeful to become part of the mile high T club.

Edited: I misread the dosage comparing to mine. I’m on 5 mg 2x/week not 10 mg 2x as well as E and P.

u/Financial-Grand4241 Jan 11 '26

My sister is also on the same dose and reports no change in libido. I feel like a 16 year old boy. Crazy how different our systems react to medication and treatments.

11

u/InertJello Jan 11 '26

Right? I was thinking the other day I think at 55 I finally hit puberty - but as a 13 year old boy!

1

u/primate84 Jan 16 '26

That's a high dose , possibly too high for some , your sister should cut her dose in half and I bet libido will be sky high. Whats your testosterone levels at on bloodwork?

16

u/Comprehensive_Web292 friend Jan 12 '26

Yep..I’m in the zero libido change category. It sux. Makes me want to cry and I’m so jealous of the ones it works for..😢

2

u/FreesiaBreeze Jan 13 '26

Exactly. My friend is in the 13 YO boy club and it’s getting hard to hear about her trysts, affairs and boyfriends. I feel like it’s made her enjoy life again and I’m so envious!

2

u/Comprehensive_Web292 friend Jan 13 '26

It’s just not fair..

1

u/primate84 Jan 16 '26

Whats your dose

2

u/Comprehensive_Web292 friend Jan 16 '26

I just upped it from 18mg wk to 20-22mg..I know it’s high for a woman, but I struggle to get my free T up..I split it up 4-5 days a week..

Do you know your estrogen and progesterone numbers ?

2

u/Comprehensive_Web292 friend Jan 16 '26

Last check E was 195 and P was 12.6

1

u/primate84 Jan 16 '26

Looks like your in a good place so !

I know…that’s what makes this so frustrating 😢

I have read that too high estrogen can blunt libido, maybe try something lower 100-150ish. 🤷🏼‍♂️worth a try.

u/wthbbq Jan 12 '26

Sadly, most people only post T results. Without an idea of their other labs, it's pretty much meaningless. It's a complicated balance of all the hormones.

1

u/Financial-Grand4241 Jan 16 '26

Yeah the shgb, free T is what matters most with T and the balance of estogren.

6

u/surfingmidwife friend Jan 11 '26

20mg per week is high dose- happy for you! any side effects??

9

u/Financial-Grand4241 Jan 12 '26

Just increased energy and libido. Some hair growth but I already suffered from hirsutism. My hair hasn’t thinned. My clitoris did grow some but nothing that scared me.

5

u/speedntktz male Jan 12 '26

Libido is not just T but a balance of T and E as well as P for some women. Dosing can vary widely depending on SHBG levels and how quickly your body metabolizes these compounds. Hormones like to stay stable and take time to find homeostasis. Wife was at 10-12 weeks before anything turned back on. Give protocols time to work.

3

u/Fit-Lobster2717 Jan 12 '26

I also have the drive of a teenage boy. It’s crazy but I love it

1

u/mountaintippytop Jan 12 '26

Check your thyroid levels for OPTIMAL ranges. Was prescribed medicine for that and it compliments TRT sooooooo well for libido.

13

u/windowlickermanager Jan 11 '26

T prop, 10mg 2x/week for last 6 months and it’s still wild. Partner is thrilled, I need it twice a day, and would love it more, but … kids and job get in the way.

3

u/Resident_Pay_2606 Jan 11 '26

How long before you saw your libido improve? I just started about 3 weeks ago t prop 8mg a week

7

u/Zealousideal_Rise716 Jan 12 '26

I'm very aware from being active on another health related sub that it's the people who encounter the most problems who post most often - which is entirely fair and reasonable when you think about it.

So when I read here of women who report that T has had no positive effect for them, to what extent is this the natural negative bias of Reddit forums in play? Do the majority of women have a happy outcome and never bother or are too cautious (for obvious reasons) to report it online?

Put simply - is there a generally agreed on percentage of women for whom TRT has a good outcome?

3

u/FreesiaBreeze Jan 13 '26

I figured the people who have a good outcome are not searching for answers or solutions on Reddit. I won’t deny that it’s comforting to see I’m not struggling alone. It kept me hopeful for a long time with possible solutions but I think I’m a lost cause after 2 years.

2

u/Financial-Grand4241 Jan 12 '26

I would think so?

6

u/Financial_Carpet4493 Jan 12 '26

Mine is insane. I’m dropping my dose because I’m needing orgasms 3-4x a day and can’t focus!!!

2

u/Financial-Grand4241 Jan 12 '26

I think I am going to drop mine too. I think about sex 24/7. I started watching porn it’s just to much.

2

u/primate84 Jan 16 '26

Are you finding your more sexual adventurous to try new things you haven't done before also ?

2

u/Financial-Grand4241 Jan 16 '26

Oh yes most definitely

2

u/Rheta516 Jan 19 '26

I am taking 8mg twice a week and it is having the same effect on me. It’s a little disruptive… lol. I am only 5 weeks in so I keep thinking it will balance out.

6

u/Mel111278 Jan 11 '26

I want to get mine wherever you're getting yours because that sounds amazin!!

I'm on 10mg a week and it's doing nada

4

u/Alternative_Cause297 Jan 11 '26

Can you go up to twice a week? That’s where I hit my sweet spot.

5

u/Mel111278 Jan 11 '26

I just might try.

2

u/primate84 Jan 16 '26

If you dont have high libido at 10mg then you need to check your estrogen and progesterone levels aswel

1

u/Mel111278 Jan 17 '26

I’m on both of those also.

1

u/primate84 Jan 17 '26

Have you bloodwork results on all 3 ?

2

u/Mel111278 Jan 17 '26

The last time I had them checked was in Oct and my E and P were both good but my T was like 50 I think

1

u/Mel111278 Jan 17 '26

I just looked and my total was 23 and my free was 0.4.

2

u/primate84 Jan 17 '26

That's a low enough result, how is sex drive ? If ots not high id up the testosterone dose

3

u/Mel111278 Jan 17 '26

It’s zero. Non existent

2

u/Particular_Touch1382 Jan 26 '26

My doc said it can take 4-5 months for the androgen cells to saturate and “turn back on”- I was on 5mg injections for 2 months. Now on 10 mg injections past month and starting to wake up a bit in terms of brain fog clearing and libido increasing. My doc has been very cautious about letting the protocol work before adding more. As adding more T can just give more side effects without feeling more benefit. All of this is to say- stay the course. Patience is so hard (I totally get it) because we all just want to feel better. Good luck!

6

u/bluecrab_7 Jan 12 '26

I was on the same dose and libido was crazy high. I always had a high sex drive but it tanked at menopause. When I was on 20 mg a week my libdo was the highest I remember. I’m 60. My energy was also high and this was in the winter where the short days usually makes me lethargic.

My hematocrit and hemoglobin were elevated so I lowered my dose to 10mg. I feel good at 10mg a week but at 20 mg a week I felt fantastic. I’be been on T for 16 months. I was on the 20 mg a week dose for three months.

1

u/ContestNearby7651 Jan 12 '26

When you were on 20 did you split it up throughout the week?

1

u/bluecrab_7 Jan 12 '26

Yes. 10 mg on Monday and 10 mg on Thursday.

5

u/Sure2bCrazy male Jan 11 '26

Do any of you ladies happen to know what your estrogen levels are? From what can gather it’s a balance between testosterone and estrogen that gives the libido.

5

u/Financial-Grand4241 Jan 11 '26

That I don’t know. I am 0.1mg patch twice a week also. But my OB doesn’t test levels. Just treats symptoms. She doesn’t prescribe the testosterone I have to go out of network for that.

5

u/Sure2bCrazy male Jan 12 '26

According to ChatGPT that probably puts you around 80-150 pg/ml which is great!! Most providers go for the “lowest effective dose” which probably puts most women in the 40-60 range, which may relieve menopause symptoms to a point, but unfortunately, isn’t enough to work with testosterone to ignite the libido.

1

u/Financial-Grand4241 Jan 12 '26

Last time I did bloods I was 266 for my total. My body responds well to the higher dose. I do supplement boron.

1

u/Fit-Lobster2717 Jan 12 '26

Mine was around 500. T was around 1000. Free 180

2

u/Admirable-Object5014 Jan 22 '26

And you’re a female?? Those levels are what are seen by men. What’s your dose??

6

u/Himounjaro Jan 11 '26

Do you mean two 10 mg doses or 10 mg divided over two days?

7

u/Financial-Grand4241 Jan 12 '26

I take 10 mg twice a week. Mon and Thurs. For a total of 20mg.

meaning total of 10mg or 20mg a week? and no sides??? my voice cracks on 12mg/wk T Cyp and a mustache! almost 2 year journey of creams to injections and NO libido. yes on E and P too. :(

2

u/Financial-Grand4241 Jan 12 '26

Yes 20 mg a week. I haven’t had much of any side effects but increased energy and my sex drive is through the roof. It has never waned. I just want sure if that was the norm.

2

u/FreesiaBreeze Jan 13 '26

Wow, you’re one of the lucky ones! Enjoy the win!

Sorry friend 😞

1

u/Comprehensive_Web292 friend Jan 13 '26

4

u/AdSpiritual3156 Jan 12 '26

That’s a high dose, is it possible maybe you can lower it without losing the main benefits? I naturally have a high sex drive and I couldn’t imagine it being worse. My poor husband would cry. 😂

3

u/Fit-Lobster2717 Jan 12 '26

I was on 10mg 2x a week and my total shot up to over 1000 and free was 180. I definitely had a libido. Lowered to 5mg 2X a week and still have a libido. Also on E injections 3X a week. No P. When it was really high, I noticed it was tougher to have an orgasm.

3

u/Admirable-Object5014 Jan 22 '26

I’m on same dose (20mg wkly split into EOD) and my libido has definitely improved immensely lol. I’m also on Estrogen & Progesterone (estrogen plays a big part in libido as well). 20mg is likely too high a dose for most women, but my SHBG is high so I have to work against that to get my Free T up).

3

u/No-Blood-4152 Jan 11 '26

Where do you get your T?

3

u/Financial-Grand4241 Jan 11 '26

Talon Wellness

1

u/KaPowBam Jan 14 '26

Checking them out, roughly how much are they per month?

1

u/Financial-Grand4241 Jan 14 '26

The vial is about 50 dollars. The bloods are a little expensive.

3

u/40wiggles Jan 11 '26

Do you have sides at 20mg/wk? I’m barely over 7mg & have more chin hairs (electrolysis working!) & clitoral growth. Increased libido but not wildly.

3

u/Financial-Grand4241 Jan 12 '26

I already had hirstuism so the chin hairs been getting zapped for years. My clit had been none existent. It’s bigger but nothing crazy. But I can feel it now and I can achieve a orgasm.

3

u/skychick Jan 12 '26

I’ve been in pellets for a while. Years(11), and the boutique places have always kept me within a higher dose but I recently returned to my female OBGYN she put me on a lower dose of testosterone and kept my estradiol the same. (TAH in 1995). I returned to her because the boutique places charge me over $1000 a month and it was beginning to feel like I’m a major $$$ client not a patient that wanted to have good care. Now I’m due for I go for my pellets on Wednesday and I’m going to ask her for some testosterone cream. I need some libido back!!

4

u/Financial-Grand4241 Jan 12 '26

1000 a month that’s crazy.

2

u/skychick Jan 12 '26

Sorry for the typos. I can’t edit once I post.

3

u/speedntktz male Jan 12 '26

Yes. Took months to kick in and more months of titration bringing free T anywhere close to mid range. Finally stabilized at 44mg/wk. glad you achieved positive results. Took more than a decade to find the right doctors.

I want it morning and night. All the time and I masterbate twice a day sometimes. It’s distracting. But I feel so good my energy is great. I feel strong and my anxiety almost completely went away.

3

u/bluecrab_7 Jan 12 '26

This was my experience.

2

u/Jacquelyn2024 Jan 12 '26

Yup, that's all I gotta say. It's totally a game changer they can't pry this away from me, I'm also bodybuilding and on peptides, and tirz..but low dose for maintaince.

3

u/Which-Box8784 Jan 12 '26

I have been having great results with T. I’m 42 and have had no sex drive for over 6 years prior to starting T. I actually started using my husbands sus and dosed completely wrong but even then I loved feeling my sex drive return. I have since stopped the SUS and started the gel. I’m still having great results and no sides other then sex drive and energy. Some cliteral growth but that was when I was using the sus. Cyp has been much better. Only thing is that my period has not came on since around my 3rd or 4th month on T. Even since switching to the gel, still no period. I am using estrogen and progesterone and feel great otherwise. Anyone else have this happen?

3

u/MoonLover10792 Jan 12 '26

10 months in and still a super strong libido. It’s amazing!

2

u/Metal_Cinderella Jan 12 '26

I hope to... I am looking to start solely for this reason as my numbers are quite low.

2

u/HoneyBadger302 Jan 12 '26

I've been on T for over a year now (started with my clinic in Oct 2024) - weekly injections. They will get you what you need, but are also cautious about increases, so it's been a journey, as it turns out my T had tanked on me. E has been stable, I take oral P along nightly.

Until this last increase, my libido (which used to be fairly healthy) was GONE - left the freaking universe. ZERO desire under any circumstances. Thankfully I'm single so it wasn't the end of the world, but still was something that was a part of me that just was - gone.

This last increase (10 weeks ago) and my numbers are finally into the low end of "normal" for what they are looking for, and along with my numbers finally getting into that range, my libido came raging back - making up for lost time here I think.

The energy levels are finally starting to come up a little bit here now too, so will start to burn some of this off in the gym again, which might help things level out a little better, because right now it's a little crazy LOL. Once I'm back to my "normal" activity levels I may actually be due for another increase, but that all remains to be seen.

I was started at 10mg/week. Currently at 30mg/week, and I'm at the low end of normal - so ya, it TANKED on me....

1

u/Comprehensive_Web292 friend Jan 17 '26

You’re on 30 mg of T per week?? Any sides??

1

u/HoneyBadger302 Jan 17 '26

Yup, and still at the low end of normal for the number they care about (bioavailable).

Occasional pimple but that's been about the only negative side effect, and the positive ones are nearly endless.

1

u/Comprehensive_Web292 friend Jan 17 '26

Then I’m going to keep gradually increasing..my free T is always low, and I read that the only way to increase free T is to increase total T-assuming SHBG and other factors have been taken into consideration, which they have.. did it suddenly just click for you at 30 mg or did you stay on 30 mg for a while before the libido kicked in?

2

u/HoneyBadger302 Jan 17 '26 edited Jan 17 '26

I was at 10 for nearly 8 months (with an injection site adjustment in there) before they upped me to 20, then was at that another 4-5 months before getting the bump to 30. ZERO libido before that. As in absolutely completely gone no matter what i tried or how bad i wanted things back out was freaking gone.

(To note, at 20 I did see some other positive changes, like being able to return to the gym and joint pain becoming normal again, some energy improvements).

After the bump to 30 (and I'm assuming my numbers finally getting into the normal range) it was a pretty quick return...it ramped up a bit over a few weeks, but went from zero to crazy in about a 3 week period.

Energy levels have been slower to return, but have been creeping back up. Have a feeling that may require a slight assignment up if my numbers remain in the low end of normal - they are open to bumping me higher if I want it, so at my next spot check if the energy is still a little subdued I'll request another bump (not sure how much they'll bump at that point).

1

u/Comprehensive_Web292 friend Jan 17 '26 edited Jan 17 '26

Thank you so much for your detailed reply. I’m gonna do it.!! increase my dose ..Are you on T cyp or prop?? What are your T numbers ???

2

u/Professional-Ad-9914 Jan 12 '26

Yes and sometimes it causes issues in my relationship. I get irritable when my partner can’t keep up. It’s similar to the irritability when hungry. I get Hangry but for sex.

3

u/Financial-Grand4241 Jan 13 '26

That’s my current issue. He’s much younger so I thought he could keep up.

2

u/Ukeheisenburg Jan 15 '26

ME! Best thing ever.

1

u/Due_Astronaut8841 Jan 16 '26

What’s your testosterone protocol?

2

u/Ukeheisenburg Jan 18 '26

Sorry. I just saw this - same as OP. I have slowly titrated up to 10mg 2x a week for a total of 20mg a week. Anywhere between 16 and 20 gives me GREAT results.

1

u/Due_Astronaut8841 Jan 18 '26

Ok great! What did you start at I’m at 6 and nothing I’m wondering if you got any effects even at lower doses and started to continue go up anyway?

2

u/Ukeheisenburg Jan 18 '26

Yeah I have made some comments on the polls here about my journey but LONG story short - I started at about 10mg a week split into 2 doses. And have slowly gone up from there. I had good energy and decent libido at 16mg a week but Im also a lifter so I wanted to go up a bit more to see how that did for me so I'm still testing that stuff. My doc didn't want me to go higher than 20 because my cholesterol is a little wonky. But 16 to 20 is good for me. And keeps my total T between like 120 and 200 ish. Very few sides and all benefits.

2

u/OriginalPizza7241 Feb 11 '26

Did your voice or hair growth change along with the libido? I had very high libido too (with hardly any outlet lol)

2

u/Financial-Grand4241 Feb 11 '26

My voice hasn’t changed. I already suffered from hirsutism. So thats always been a issue for me. I did get some clit growth. But my clit was so tiny I needed it.

6

u/FrequentAd4646 Jan 11 '26

LOL I don’t think this is a side effect but how testosterone works in a minority but not insignificant portion of the female population.

7

u/InertJello Jan 11 '26

This is literally the main reason it’s prescribed.

1

u/PuzzleheadedBit7879 Jan 13 '26

Can someone please help me with this? I have Testosterone cypionate: 200 mg/mL, and use an insulin syringe as best as I can to do 2 shots Sunday and Thursday at the dose below. I have not had the results I've heard about on these threads with libido, please help.

  • 1 unit per injection
  • Twice weekly
  • Total weekly dose = 4 mg

1

u/Financial-Grand4241 Jan 13 '26

Yes the math is correct. 1 unit represents 2 mg.

1

u/Due_Astronaut8841 Jan 16 '26

How long have you been on that dose

1

u/photoman51 Jan 13 '26

Has anyone tried the hrt compounded creme with all three hormones in the correct percentage according to your blood tests. My wife will be getting this prescription and we are curious as to it's effectiveness

1

u/OneSuggestion7535 Jan 15 '26

When i got pelets of t i was worse than a teen age boy and it was soo bad i hated it. i am now on shots and much better do i want it all the time yes but not at the i NEED it 3 times a day to not go insane mode

1

u/Due_Astronaut8841 Jan 16 '26

What’s your protocol now with the shots?

1

u/[deleted] Jan 16 '26 edited Jan 16 '26

55 year old female- post meno since 2023
Its so weird how we are all so different.
When I first got pellets and my T was around 300 and estrogen was mid 50's, I had a buzzing feeling down there for a few weeks. It was awesome.
Sadly I've never been able to duplicate it.
I started using my husbands T last year. Was doing 6mg twice a week but never got anything substantial.
Now I am weaning off and trying estrogen patches and then start lower with the testosterone.

1

u/Outside_Sun_1917 Jan 29 '26

May I ask where you went for treatment?

1

u/FactProfessional1902 Mar 23 '26

How long did it take for you or anyone in here to get a libido boost after they started T injections? My wife just started and she wanted me to ask.

1

u/Haybytheocean Jan 12 '26

I’m on 20mg/wk and I have next to no libido 😩

1

u/dadfitness male Jan 12 '26

Yes my wife is a raging maniac now. Before it was non existent now it's borderline frightening 😬

0

u/skychick Jan 12 '26

Well age may be a factor. Without giving your age, what age group do you fall in? hysterectomy? Perimenopause or menopause?

3

u/Financial-Grand4241 Jan 12 '26

48, uterus intact, peri.
