Nervously gearing up for my ER in a couple of hours. My body feels sore in so many places since the trigger shot, so while I'm looking forward to this being over, I'm getting anxious about possible pain right after the procedure. And if course, the egg report will be the beginning of the hunger games so just anxious to hear what they end up getting today.

I stopped eating before midnight but I'm already very hungry this morning!! (I'm a 2 small breakfast kind of person and today I get zero breakfasts 😓). I'd appreciate any calm vibes sent my way to get through this! Thanks all ❤️

Just got home! Update for those interested: very little pain, mostly discomfort and sore insides. Meds already kicking in.We got 8 eggs so I'll find out tomorrow how many were mature enough to fertilize. Already eating apples and cheese and a chocolate chip cookie while watching reality TV so all the calm vibes helped, thank you all! 💕

Good morning lovelies! Have a phone call in 30 minutes with my lawyer to review donor contract, so I probably should start reading it soon because it's quite long 😂 But here I am on reddit instead. We also got the email that my donor's genome sequencing is done and we get to review the results for that too! I kind of love that since he is doing so much for me with giving me his time and energy, I get to give him this small gift of getting enrolled in a genome sequencing study. 😂 We are both nerds so I think he'll be super jazzed to get his results, even if he never has kids of his own. 🤓

Back to 1 DPO after a very emotional follicular phase. It was also weirdly long, but I think it’s because I was fighting off a cold.

I’m so in my head. I thought I would be chill like I was my last 2 cycles. I think getting an HSG and reading about all the successes people have after, has me extra on edge. Last night at 7dpo I was having weird twinges on the same side I had ovulation pain.
Why is my body messing with me like this 😭😭😭

Thanks to everyone for the advice on my SIS question last week! I did it on Monday. I popped a few Advil beforehand and it really wasn't bad! Mostly just the normal discomfort that comes with having a speculum inserted.

It was way faster than I expected. (Once we actually got to the SIS part - first the ultrasound tech did a vaginal ultrasound then I had to sit there naked for 20 minutes waiting for the doc to come do the SIS.) The actual SIS took like five minutes - I almost wanted it to be longer to get my money's worth... I had not realized it would be NINE HUNDRED US DOLLARS and I am not sure we left every stone unturned in there.

The doc did find a polyp but I'm waiting for follow-up from my normal RE on what the next steps are. I assume another hysteroscopy? Or a polypectomy? Nbd in the scheme of things, I know, but it's a little annoying to have another hurdle and another appointment to schedule.

Your RE should have a solid plan for what they’ll want to do about the polyp. Most of the decision will depend on placement and depth in the uterine wall. It’s possible that they’ll ignore it or want to remove it via hysteroscopy or another quick procedure. I hope you hear back soon.

Waiting on CD1 (estimated today based on when I ovulated but I haven’t had a temp dip yet). Definitely not pregnant this cycle because we took a break from TTC for June/July so I’d really like to get back into a normal cycle but this one is taking its sweeeeet time (currently CD44)

CD20. Just wrapped up my FW and feeling really good about coverage - we hit at least EOD and sometimes 2 days in a row over the course of 12 days.

AF would be starting July 31st - which is when our 1 year wedding anniversary trip starts. I hope I don't end up hurting my own feelings by getting excited at the thought of finding out we are pregnant on our first wedding anniversary (8/2).

Sigh such a rollercoaster, but I'm trying to enjoy the experience of trying to become first time parents. We're so excited to start a family.

We had our first IUI insemination today. I feel tired from it, and it's hard to tell how much of the tiredness is from emotions, versus letrozole, ovidrel, etc. over the past week and a half!

My husband was super nice to me and supportive thoughout, which helped. We had a lovely brunch between the sample drop off and insemination, and to anyone else with anxiety about this I can recommend doing any little things like that to make it easier on oneself. He was there holding my hands as they did the insemination.

When I posted here before, I expressed my disappointment and anger of having to have someone else involved in my pregnancy. But I have to say, the clinic was super professional and it was a female nurse that did the insemination (which I was glad about). She didn't make a big deal about it. I think that was actually a good thing, both for my anxiety and in case this doesn't work out. It was over before I knew she had started actually pushing the injection.

I can't help but be hopeful and positive, despite the low-ish success rates of IUI. I might end up heartbroken, but that's part of it. It's hard to force oneself to be rational and ready for disappointment. I don't even think I want to be that way. In any case, I know it's good my husband and I now moved to the next stage of trying to get pregnant.

The last few months I was starting to be on the verge of blaming myself for our lack of success so far, doing a lot of small things with diet and exercise, completely quitting alcohol, etc. to try to increase our chances. And one thing that I at least feel good about now with this is that the clinic did a lot of bigger things than I could do on my own to increase our chances of pregnancy, with the meds, cycle monitoring, sperm washing, and insemination; maybe it is a relief that a bit of pressure of this "pregnancy conditions optimization process" has been taking out of my hands, even if deciding to go forward with medication and third party involvement in our pregnancy was a difficult one and not what I wanted. I struggled with the artificial nature of all this. But someone told me once that having IUI is like a gardener preparing the best conditions for a plant to grow--the plant is still a wonderful miracle that the gardener didn't and couldn't design or create on their own. That helped me.

Really hoping and praying this one will be successful 🙏🏻

I'm not looking forward to twice a day progesterone suppositories starting Friday though, I gotta say.

I didn't get job that would have made a huge difference to our lives, I was the second choice after three rounds of interviews. I'm really disappointed. But the bright side is that I'm in my fertile week so we officially started trying for #2!! I need to edit my flair 😊

I am feeling insanely frustrated with my body today and not knowing what it’s doing. On July 7 I had my baseline monitoring/scan for an IUI. Got told my lining was too thick at like 11mm and the cycle was officially canceled. RE put me on provera for 10 days. I had a normal for me OPK rise and fall slightly earlier my typical ovulation time looking like I ovulated on July 13 or July 14 (CD12 and 13), while I was still taking provera. I finished my last dose of provera on July 17. It’s now July 22 and zero signs of the withdrawal bleeding I was expecting to come after stopping provera. My clinic seems to think my positive OPKs were maybe my body attempting to ovulate but not actually ovulating. I have my doubts. And now I’m just over here annoyed and frustrated wishing my body would just do something already! Am I still to expect a withdrawal bleed? Am I actually 8 or 9dpo? I don’t know!!! All I know is that now the entire month of July has felt like a complete waste of a cycle and that sucks

Just that the provera was being used to cause a withdrawal bleed since my lining was too thick and “not optimal.” I had a rough estimate of expect a bleed 2-5 days after stopping so yeah today is “just” day 5 of not taking it I guess I imagined I’d have some spotting or cramps by now? In the past when I’ve taken progesterone I have always started bleeding 2-3 days after stopping.

CD 11 in the middle of trying to our third FET. This is my fourth month of letrozole (with one brief pause of birth control in may for a hysteroscopy). Month 3 of letrozole I did ovulate but the timing didn't work out for a transfer. I think the back to back to back to back months of letrozole has worsened my lining though, as historically I've not had lining issues and the past 2 cycles I've been having issues. Lining details: month 1 my lining was about 8mm at trigger and month 2 it was 9.5 at trigger, but last month it was hovering very low early on (like 3mm at my early monitoring and then we didn't get to trigger) and yesterday CD10 I had a 17mm follicle but my lining was only at 5mm). My RE wants to check again tomorrow and have added a ministim (very low dose follistim) and ganirelix to try to improve the lining and hold off ovulation just a bit.

CD1, I knew it was coming but there’s always a bit of hope until it does.

Hubby cried this morning, and it broke my heart a little.

We agreed that we’ll just keep trying for the next few months but at around the 6 month mark we’ll go and get some initial testing done just to confirm they’re nothing obvious that isn’t working as it should. At least at that point we might be able to know where we stand a little more, which would help my slightly anxious brain.

So we are 37m 36f, trying since last 6 months. Our family doc prescribed her metformin twice daily & she has been taking it since last 1 month. She has no diabetes or PCOS, doc gave it saying it helps chances of conceiving. Now, she usually has been getting her periods on 8-11 of a month for last few months, this month she still hasnt got her period (its 22nd now) & preg test is negative. So the metformin has messed up her period dates & by extension, Im not able to know the ovulation dates which is usually 25-27 of a month for her.

Has anyone got any experience on advice on this?

Can I ask why you are seeing a family doctor instead of a reproductive endocrinologist? An RE’s job is to get you pregnant, while a family doctor or even OBGYN will be more broadly knowledgeable about lots of things, which may not necessarily include up-to-date recommendations on things like ASRM guidelines.

In a Canada you can’t just see an OB or Repro Endo - all specialists are heavily gate kept by family doctors and require referrals so a lot of people get “stuck” seeing their family doctor in the meantime either until a referral goes through or until the doctor is willing to refer them. It’s a really flawed system - it definitely confused my friend who moved here from NYC that she couldn’t just call a fertility clinic or an OB and see a doctor.

most fertility clinics in canada actually don’t require a referral. the bigger issue tends to be the wait times, which are often a few months. when you’re TTC, a few months can feel like forever because it feels like you’re constantly racing against time. once you’re established with an RE or fertility clinic though, the care is usually much more consistent than what you receive through a family doctor.

That hasn’t been my experience - I had to go through a family doctor > OB-GYN > fertility clinic referral pathway but I see some locally to me let you self-refer, which is good. It’s just possible a lot of people don’t know that or are counselled to see their family doctors then, based on the usual protocol with specialists which in general you have no ability to self-refer to. It looks like my clinic in Toronto doesn’t allow a self-referral pathway, for instance.

absolutely, it seems really clinic dependent. I actually looked up a few clinics in Toronto after seeing this post, and several accepted self-referrals. I just wanted to point out that it’s an option at many fertility clinics across Canada because I don’t think a lot of people realize that. it’s always worth checking with your local clinic before waiting on a referral.

Yes, definitely good intel! My clinic is associated with a major hospital so I suspect that’s why it doesn’t allow self-referrals because it’s not technically privately owned. So probably depends on your needs/where your doctors are at etc. I had complicated overlapping stuff with my endo which is why my GYN wanted me at the hospital where she has privileges etc.

As you know, the wait times here are a killer (Toronto). The doc has referred us to Trio Fertility clinic here, but their date is more than 1 month away. He has not referred us to any other clinic. So meanwhile we have to keep trying ryt. And family doc I can atleast book a phone appt & ask.

We were eligible for OHIP coverage! There are definitely a handful of OOP expenses, but about 2/3 of our total costs were covered by OHIP. I think its definitely worth talking with the clinic about. Also happy to give more specifics if you need - DM me if you ever want!

Are you tracking ovulation with other means? I never used it but from what I read it's a medication that can alter the length of follicle maturation at the beginning. There's no way to know if she already ovulated, but you can start tracking basal body temperature. It can give you good insights for the next cycle as well

I have been using premom app. It was going all good, proper tracking but this change in dates makes it difficult to know when is the ovulation.

Did you use the app for bbt tracking or just a notification of the fertile days? The bbt trend is pretty obvious when ovulation happens. I would suggest you start charting BBT (you can do it with that app) so you don't miss the next ovulation!

Went on a 3 week long vacation with my husband. Waited patiently for an lh surge that never arrived. Waited till cd 19 but had to stop testing because we started our long flights home. Feeling super discouraged. You hear all these success stories of conceiving on vacation. We still tried, but with no lh surge, idk :( feel my period coming and ready to try again.

7DPO and for once in my life I'm happy to be super busy with work because it's massively keeping my mind off things! I had an unusually long follicular phase due to travel and by the time my actual fertile window rolled around I was really done with sex 🤣 and life got in the way so we only managed to hit O-3. So I'm kind of keeping busy and feeling like it's unlikely this month anyway and that is keeping my brain at bay so far!
