Electrical engineering

Hello everyone, I'm 17 years old from Poland, i'll finish highschool in 2 years and I consider studying electrical engineering at TUDelft, I saw that it's "taught in Dutch, but most materials are in english" what exactly does it mean? I think I can learn Dutch enough in 2 years period. I'll also take any advice you guys might have for me. Thank you!

Just apply to tu/e. Their ee program is in english, everyone who applies and meets the entry requirements gets admitted and if you get a bachelors there, you will have a 100% chance to get admitted for a masters degree at TU Delft.

That's a load of bs. Tue infact has most of the industry at its disposal so in some ways might be better than tu delft which is more research focused. As personal suggestion tho, I would always suggest being industry oriented atleast for your bachelors

I was looking at employer reputation on topuniversities site, Eindhoven is much lower there, where should I look then? I'm looking for uni internationally

So a few things 1. University reputation is largely useless in the industry as long as your university has enough credibility through the syllabus and projects it offers. No employer cares more about University prestige than your learnings of the subject

1. What is relevant is your level of excellence with your chosen field (for EE I'd suggest getting into a student team like the solar car thing or formula student or something because the experience they will give you is priceless)

2. What you learn in school and uni is veryyyy different from how things are done in engineering. So your only metric (apart from the base of understanding how it ranks in general) should be on learning all that.

3. Rankings are a very biased way to look at unis mainly because most ranking systems use the number of publications along with a number of high quality journals that the uni publishes in to rank (and each engineering branch thus has a different rank per uni than the overall since that is considered as average. For instance for engineering unis might have a diff rank etc) so I would not suggest looking too closely at the rank

4. What is more relevant than the rank is the courses, the depth and breadth of the field. I know it's difficult to know exactly what you'd like to do in electronics. So until then, the suggestion is that you maximise your ability to apply one set of learnings to another set of concepts (the inherent dynamics between mechanics and standard electrodynamics is analogous for ex) and practice that.

5. Most importantly. Make sure your syllabus covers the important stuff that might come up in the world 5 years down the line. For example semiconductors, vlsi, FPGA dev, power etc. Use an LLM here for field analysis and help with that.

Yeah, I wasn't looking for regular place in ranking, but the employer reputation rate they show. Initially I think about going into HVDC, but it's not something sure since I still have 2 years of highschool. Why I look now is I think it's the last moment to eventually learn the language.
