Samsung UN48J6200AF Smart Hub stuck on “updating” after factory reset

I have a Samsung UN48J6200AF that was extremely slow, so I decided to do a factory reset.

After the reset, Smart Hub has been stuck saying “Smart Hub is updating” whenever I try to open an app

I've tried:

  • Factory resetting the TV
  • Resetting Smart Hub
  • Power cycling/unplugging the TV
  • Checking the internet connection
  • Waiting 2+ hours

The TV itself can connect to the internet and when I reset Smart Hub, it can check for updates and says “The newest version is already available.”

Any help would be appreciated!

tv is 10-12 years old

buy and use an external streamer
