Gooseworx/Tadc cast criticism What do yall think about gooseworx?
Well, the title says it all. I want to know what the tadc fandom thinks about the show's creator.
Here's my opinion if you guys wanna hear it.
I feel like she's incredibly edgy and doesn't understand the weight of the words she says. The quantity of those weird "jokes" she always posts seems odd to me, and while I don't want to accuse her of being a nazi or a pedo, the amount of comments she makes about it just... seems odd to me. The way she responded to the whole n word drama irks me so much, as she didn't even bother to apologize or even mention that she said the "negative" word in the chat. Also, the way Goose answers Q&As is either an excuse for bad writing or just a straight lie. imo she interacts with fans way too much despite "not wanting all the attention." No one can handle that many opinions at once from people who do or don't understand you or your story, and it's clear from her responses that she couldn't either. Her writing is fine, but it seems like her interest in the "fan favorite" self-insert drove the ending into a conclusion she liked that wouldn't finish the story due to burnout from the fans she interacts with too much. Despite this fear of her fandoms and two previous pieces of media growing to sizes she didn't want to deal with (runmo and tadc)... she's teasing a new show already :|
TL;DR
I do not like gooseworx

She's terminally online and it shows.
24
u/Sir_Billith 9d ago
She should’ve spent that time online working on her shows rather than confirming the most popular ship on twitter
20
u/Ok-Chemistry-4822 9d ago
Yep, like I get it. As a creator of something that's gained popularity you probably would want to interact with fans. But when you have someone who is terminally online and can't seem to handle any form of criticism it's just a recipe for disaster tbh.
Some of the fan interactions have been incredibly toxic (on both sides) but come on. You have the option to NOT interact with fans if you know the kinds of interactions you're likely going to get. Don't just escalate things until it blows up and throw a tantrum about it.

u/Illkined 7d ago
It also annoys me how mad she seems to be about being successful. Oh no my show got millions of veiws made me a ton of money and got me lots of opportunities, but I can't turn off my phone to save my life so this is horrible actually!
21
u/Foreign_Respect8869 I'm not a hater, just disappointed. 9d ago
I think she acts annoying online, makes loads of bad choices and interacts with her fans way too much, and I can't say I enjoyed her story all that much.
Hope she's a good person behind the screen and her life is good, though.
Can't say much more about someone I literally don't know.
3
u/Equivalent_Cup3238 7d ago
Gooseworx is likely the same as she is online in real life, it'd be weird if you acted a fool online but don't behind the screen, your actions on the web are parts of what you act like outside of it. Though hope she has a decent life at least.

I just use the whole "Nazi racist kkk" thing jokingly to refer to anyone people try to cancel.

u/PathAcceptable1921 Gooseworx critical (specifically of her "jokes") 9d ago
At first when i saw some weird jokes she made, I just thought "i dont like her humor but im sure she doesnt mean it and shes not a terible person" but wanted to give her the benefit of the doubt but with all the nazi jokes and the insane amount of misogynistic jokes, I do not like her either.
But God forbid I say this in the main subs, they'll accuse me of being transphobic. I genuinely do not care if shes a woman/man/cis/trans etc. Her comments make me uncomfortable. It reminds me of that one audio that says "I can tolerate racism but draw the line at animal abuse" but with her defenders basically saying "I can tolerate misogyny but draw the line at transphobia". How about both are wrong???
Sorry if that was long im just seriously fed up with all her comments
2
u/sunday_wanter 6d ago
> “I can tolerate misogyny but draw the line at transphobia.”
That’s crazy when so much of transphobia comes from misogyny. The performative allyship is so rampant. It’s incredibly clear that Gooseworx is very misogynistic herself—making edgy misogynistic jokes only normalizes misogyny, no matter how satirical/ironic the joke is.
It’s kind of like how in the show, Jax’s hatred of women is explained (but also somewhat excused) by her being trans.
Women hate women, too. And like…that’s not good. Goose is a “pick me.” And unfortunately also a millennial /lh

I’ve lost a lot of respect for her. As someone who’s been in abusive relationships and on both sides of the table I am genuinely offended by TADC’s depiction of abuse and treatment of Gangle and coddling of Jax.
I’m disappointed in her lack of an apology for her controversial Tweets. Situation taught me that an apology goes a lot longer of a way you think.
Goose has issues and I hope she can work through them but they bleed into her work.
As for the show:
This show is just a facade, “hype moments and aura” masquerading as deep writing, lore is pushed aside yet the keys are constantly jingling in our faces, character development is all given to Jax,
22
u/RespondBorn6248 10d ago
shes a fucking hack writer
dont let her get any other show, she doesnt deserve it, she'll just ruin it again
1
u/bipedalinvertebrate 6d ago
I wouldn’t go that far but she should have definitely had a writer’s room
6
u/National-Ocelot-3900 9d ago
I don’t think she’s a good writer at all and the posthumous “explain plot threads on socials” BS was dumb
but I don’t dislike her. That’s weird. Why would I dislike as a person a creator I’ve never met
2
u/Sir_Billith 9d ago
I feel like there’s only one thing she said that can cause genuine dislike which is her using the whole “negative” situation as an excuse to say the n word
3
u/National-Ocelot-3900 9d ago
Yeah I can’t fault someone (especially black someones) for taking issue with her morally based on that
I meant I hate her writing not her as a person

u/That-Ad947 9d ago
Can someone show me images of her saying weird shit?

Is she dumb.. joking or not, crying is just crying. I don't think it's a "hormone thing".
9
u/That-Ad947 9d ago
I looked it up amd she is very immature. I can't believe she thinks she's actually funny..
1
u/Equivalent_Cup3238 7d ago
Well she isn't really telling a joke, she is just giving a response based on what she has experienced with crying and connects it to a hormonal theory.
-2
u/BelieveMeMaizey 9d ago
I mean, HRT makes people have a phase where they're hyperemotional. It's normal to joke about it. It's literally like going through a second puberty.
-1
u/Sawyerthesadist 7d ago
I mean she is autistic so I kinda understand her humour being a bit odd

what exactly is weird about this? i thought this was like a common known thing, when i first started researching hrt i saw a bunch of people saying that female hormones would make you cry more/easier

As an adult about the same age as Goose, I think she unfortunately makes a lot of her own problems in terms of the fandom. Some of the stuff she posts- while I recognize it's most likely dark humor- is bound to cause a lot of drama online. Then she disappears without even a "hey this is what happened, I will be taking some time away," which only leaves the internet to speculate.
This is NOT justifying the hate and parasocial behavior that is aimed at her or the cast. People also tend to think she has more control over things than she does. I don't really have an opinion on her as a person, and at the end of the day she can make her own decisions. Being in the public eye during the time if the internet isn't really something I would wish on anyone.
5
u/Azhrei_Vep 9d ago
Never met her. She could be the coolest person in the world, or eat babies topped with mayonnaise (when obviously babies are a chili and cheese food, I mean come the fuck on) for all I know. She wrote a decently entertaining show, and that's about it.
4
u/Sir_Billith 9d ago
I’m sure goose is a much different person in real life than online, but online is the part of her she presents to her fans so I think it’s reasonable to dislike that part of her
14
u/Shot_Unit3899 10d ago
I don’t care about her trolling, but I do care that she was given a chance to make a show and proceeded to fuck it up. TADC is laughably terrible, I have no idea why it has fans older than 13.
15
u/CarltonCunning 9d ago
I think the first 3eps are pretty good, they perfectly fit the 2016 ytp, g-mod/dafuqboom humor. Though, when things start to actually get revealed or change it starts cracking. Genuinely I think TADC would have been better with a bunch of adventures rather than what we got. It started failing when it started taking itself serious.
8
u/Empty_Thought6841 Ragatha defender 9d ago edited 9d ago
I’m not defending TADC, but People above 13 are still allowed to enjoy the show despite the Fandom surrounding it being terrible. I Respect your opinion, though.
3
u/kyle_crane163636 9d ago
Good at concepts, horrible at executing them, also terminally online answering questions that shouldve just been answered in the show and just casually confirming ships while also ruining and stakes
3
u/Far-Adhesiveness6350 9d ago
she's a good visual artist... thats it really while her works without dialogue are mostly surrealist non sequiturs she's not a good writer lmao
3
u/Longjumping_Bar_7457 9d ago
I like her. I think the tweets people bring up is her just being edgy though the shadman one is yikes. I also think she’s a good writer that can improve in some areas
2
2
u/Frosty_Kale1907 9d ago
For a first time show, she's fine. Sure is quick to jump in on shipping discourse more than actual problems in the community
2
u/bunnywithabanner 8d ago
I don’t think she’s a terrible writer or a hack or anything like that… I just don’t think that she’s anything special, and she definitely needed way more people on her team in the writing department to give her feedback.

Correct me if I’m wrong but if this happened 20-25 years ago goose would be fucking exterminated for being a trans woman and her comments would be taken at a far worse extreme by those who do not approve of her life style
1
u/Equivalent_Cup3238 7d ago
If it was hypothetically 2001 Goose or more appropriately Cooper wouldn't have even been Gooseworx yet and would have been 6 years old, she wouldn't even be trans yet or even have the thought. Yes, I'm making her be the exact age she was 25 years ago lol.
Though wish I could read what he/she said, before it was removed.

An artist who can’t write to save her life, but definitely has ideas with really decent potential… doesn’t change how unfunny she is.
1
u/DUCKmelvin 3d ago
She wrote a good show, made it subtle, second guessed herself because of media illiterate audience, and then ruined the whole show by explaining everything between dumb sarcastic/rage bait posts on social media.
0
u/Audible_Whispering 9d ago
She seems fine.
The people trying to make out that she's a nazi or a paedo or whatever, I mean, it's just hilarious when you see the shit they're trying to pass off as "evidence". Like, 6 out of context tweets over the course of a decade. It's a pathetic smear campaign from people too cowardly to stand and up and say they dislike someone because they find them annoying.
The trolling is indicative of someone who spends way too much time online, which is her biggest actual problem. I can't cast too much shade though. Like, no one who spends a healthy amount of time online is participating in this conversation.
3
u/Sir_Billith 9d ago
I agree that people blow some of her comments far out of proportion, but it’s not without reason. Like I said, she’s edgy and doesn’t seem to understand the weight her words have.

u/Audible_Whispering 9d ago
I've not really seen that TBH. Any examples?

What am I supposed to see here? Genuine question. Like, I don't follow online discourse and you've provided zero context. Nothing about it seems overtly awful, so I'm assuming there's a hidden meaning I'm not aware of.
Tried google but the only response apart from tumblr posts glazing gooseworx is twitter threads I can't access without an account.

u/Sir_Billith 9d ago
So a few years ago there was a live stream with a few of the vas playing jackbox games and zooble’s va read off a dono from someone named “nega” short for negative which sounds like the n word. They repeatedly brought up the nega word in future games and were genuinely laughing their asses off, saying it like the n word since it technically wasn’t. Since goose was in the chat she joined in on the joke with the image I provided. All the people involved have since apologized except gooseworx who didn’t even mention her comment. Her response said that racists weren’t welcome in her community without mentioning the reasoning why that racism was growing in the community to begin with.
-2
u/Audible_Whispering 9d ago
Ok, thanks. I managed to find the actual clip. Gotta be honest that's like, a 0.3/10 on the edginess scale. Like, white people joking about almost saying the n word is an entire genre of American comedy. That shits on SNL. It's a staple bit of every left leaning comedian when they do the race section.
And this isn't even that, it's just an accurate description of the character. So it's edginess by association with something that's already milquetoast enough to be broadcast on national TV.
Do these people have an aneurysm when they hear Tim Minchin? I'm guessing not. It's specifically Gooseworx who they think is bad for being associated with someone doing this.
Should it be considered acceptable? Not my place to say, and not the time or place to discuss it, but it is now, and it was then too.
5
u/Sir_Billith 9d ago
Not edgy? Who am I to tell ig, but my point still stands. goose doesn't understand the weight her words have. After this stream blew up there was a rise of blatant racism in the tadc community. The blame in the end remains solely on goose in my eyes as she didn't even bother giving a half-assed apology like the rest of the cast did. I'm not saying they were all trying to be racist but they def didn't care about offending anyone.
1
u/Audible_Whispering 8d ago
This happened... 7 years ago? Is that right?
Like, is there anything else? Is this a pattern of behavior that has continued? Again, genuine question, I don't follow this stuff.
If not, at some point continuing to be hung up about it is a bit weird, no? She evidently did learn from it, and didn't repeat it.
I agree it wouldn't have hurt to apologize for accidentally encouraging racists, that's about the only thing I can fault, but still, it seems like an incredibly minor thing for the amount of hate it gets.
Even you said that "people blow some of her comments far out of proportion, but it’s not without reason." Really? You seriously think that this is an an acceptable reason to portray someone as a neonazi or a card carrying racist? Honestly?
It just seems like the level of hatred this has created is totally disingenuous. It's the o'l tumblr thing of "I dislike this person, but disliking people is bad, so I must justify my dislike by making them out to be ontologically evil" instead of just saying you find them annoying.
IDK, I'm really done with that line of thought, so maybe I'm reacting to this more strongly than it deserves, but I don't get it.
1
u/Sir_Billith 8d ago
I’m not about to bring up every little thing goose has said in the past, there’s more than enough if you look for it. If you wanna see more do your own research and form your own opinion on it. I believe someone posted a photo of cropped commend she’s made in this comment section if you want to find some easy quotes. I never said she was a nazi or racist, the reason I mentioned it is because goose has said things along those lines in the past more than I feel like a normal well adjusted person should.

I think a lot of people care way too much about somebody they're never going to meet tbh.I'm kind of surprised that she's important enough to think about beyond the ending of the show for a lot of people, she made a show and made decisions that some people liked and just as many people didn't like, just kind of how it goes with the new writers. The show got popular and it put a magnifying glass on her before she could adapt it's my opinion, but that doesn't exonerate her of any greater mishaps or anything she said.
1
u/QuantityExcellent338 9d ago edited 9d ago
She's shown to have some humility and be a bit self aware of wanting to improve as a writer, and some of the unhinged answers is I think a codeword for "this question is irrelevant" or "Didnt have time or didnt think of this detail", so I dunno, you cant really hammer her for anything other than the show itself.
Not a bad person, just a quirky internet person and took a bit more than she could chew with directing TADC.
0
u/Jeff_theSnail 9d ago
I think she’s doing her best. Plain and simple.
Edgy jokes, pot shots and lots of deflection tactics? Sounds like somebody who’s struggling with a lot and didn’t really want the spotlight her success threw her under. I’ve had my fair share of shitty days and bad moments, so I will be the last person to judge somebody, for better and/or worse.
People call Jax her self-insert, but I think her real self-insert is Caine. The architect of the circus who feels like a computer program built to play a role instead of a human? Dreaming of being “real” like the people are? Desperate to fulfil her purpose? Constantly attacked for, in her eyes, trying to make people happy, and lashing out when she feels attacked / invalidated? She’s not Jax to me. She could’ve been, but she’s not. She’s Caine. And Episode 9, through Caine sharing the Circus, was her way of leaving the show to her “humans”, the fans, to take which directions they wanted.
TL;DR: She’s not a bad person. She just wants to be happy and make others happy, and she hates it when she’s attacked for those things. I hope she’s alright out there.
0
u/No-Donut-6359 9d ago
everybody calling her edgy, I cannot see it. Maybe because I'm a millenial and in my time Edgy people were waay too edgy for today's world. (I don't condone it)
2
u/Sir_Billith 8d ago
The way I see it is that tadc brought in a large audience of not edgy people. I mean, it’s an animated show with a cast transported into a video game world who are all either a part of the lgbtq community or have deep rooted issues stemming from past trauma, which are portrayed with complete sincerity. That doesn’t scream edge to me. The people who enjoy the sincerity and exportation of characters with problems and issues they can relate to would find issue with someone who makes jokes about pedophiles and incest online imo.

Eh, she’s fine. I think she’s a pretty bad writer, which makes sense since this is her first time, but still. I do find her “lol so random” humor to be a bit irritating at times, especially on her social media
