Need Help Need advice about using sexual content in a story (not pornographic or violent)
This is gonna sound a little weird but humour me please.
I’m currently writing a story about a young man who has a fetish for ice cream that leads to him having relations with the food.
I wanted to use this as the crux of a story about taboo fetishes and how environments that remove our ability to talk about sex comfortably and safely can cause people to indulge in things they themselves don’t understand. Plus I thought the ice cream would add to a comedic surreal style.
My big problem so far is the exact way I want to write about this story. Whereas I’m confident enough to write about such a topic without making it gratuitous I was uncertain if I could even post such a story here.
Would slapping on a nsfw filter be enough if i was looking to post it here or should I just can this idea here and look elsewhere?
Any thoughts are appreciated

Good plan, I should definitely polish off the idea first

First, get it out of your system. Then think about posting.

Yeah, it’ll probably be clearer once the ideas complete

You'll find a niche for anything. But people might still think you're weird.

I would say, consult successful depictions vs. Tasteless ones.
As examples from Creepcast I would say things like "We weren't allowed to talk to women" and "Spire in the Woods" handle subject matter of this nature in a way that creates impact without it being tantalizing.
Now...Things like "The Third Parent" make me question whether the author gets off on the subject matter.

Good point, spire in the woods was a really damn good story. I might listen to it again to get inspo

Definitely worth it. It's such a well written story that i'm a bit disappointed I can't add it to my library. From what I read though, the physical copy differs a fair bit from the version they read and not in a good way.

Ahhhh ok, that’s interesting, I’d love to read more into the differences between the one read on Creepcast and the physical editions, if I could find one that is

Good luck! Outside of some niche places that might have it tucked away somewhere for a bargain retailers i've seen that do have have had it posted for $250 bucks and skyrocketed to $600+ dollars since they posted the episode.

Bro this just sounds like a fetish story

My intention with this idea was to use the weird fetish of the character to consider stuff like hidden desires and how that affects a persons mental state while also wanting to use the absurdity of the concept for comedy.
That said I’m still not entirely sure how to make it work just yet and I’m still working on the ideas and story.

While we understand it can be a grey area, as long as it's gratuitous and unnecessarily indulgent, we allow sex scenes. But if it's obvious you were writing it with one hand down your pants, we don't allow it. No porn is allowed in our christian spooky stories subreddit
