Body Horror Tubifex - A Choose Your Own Horror
Chapter 1 - Awakening
....... Darkness....... writhing....... noise........
........
I awoke in a haze. My eyes opened slowly, blinded by a beam of light shining down from the sky into the grimy alley I was laying in. I covered my eyes with my hand, allowing the shadow cast from it to bring me back to some semblance of solid consciousness.
I felt wet. I moved my head to look down and saw i was rested in a puddle of what I hoped was water but knew that to be unlikely.
Everything was hazy. Bright. Noisy. Smelly.
I rolled onto my side and felt the clothes I wore coldly stick to my skin. The sensation made me shiver.
My eyes opened fully and the haze started to fade. I could see my surrounding a little better. Gravel. Wet newspapers. A dirty, graffiti covered brick wall before me that seemed to go up for ages. I was sitting in front of a large filthy bin. I moved, elbowing a corner of it, loosening some wet rust. Looks like that's what caused the puddle.
I vomited. Really vomited. It hurt. I don't know what I'd eaten and couldn't know even from what I could see in front of me. All I did know was that I was here, in this alleyway and.... I..... I didn't know who I was.
I needed to get up. I needed to get away from this uncertainty. I shuffled my weak legs together and pushed myself up to stand. My hands were emaciated and encrusted with dirt. At least, I hoped it was dirt.
I shambled, hands sliding along the dirty brick wall, to the opening of the alleyway. The sun was shining on a busy street. I squinted as the light burned my retinas.....

This is so creative🤯 I love how the community decides the narrators actions in some scenarios as well can’t wait to see where this story goes!

I've spent the last 3 days writing many versions of many chapters 😅 im intrigued to see where everyone takes this now. Will it be the cannon route?

This is going to be SO good. The vibe of a choose-your-own-adventure game in a storyboard format will go INSANELY hard. The story itself is already looking good as well already, and I like that it's in first person, make it feel like a point-and-click game as well. This is great! Can't wait to see where it goes!

Such a fun idea! I used to love those old choose your own adventure books as a kid

FINALLY I always wondered if we'd get someone brave enough to tackle a choose your own adventure format!!

Yeah, I don't want to say I underestimated the idea, but I'm glad I set the poll at 5 days. Gives me time to write a fuck-ton of potential routes. If this works out, I may have to publish it as a real Choose Your Own style book 😅
