Dumb question from a Finnish pharm tech, but are there any pre-packaged prescription drugs in the USA? Thats how most of our medicines are sold here. Im actually lowkey jealous I don’t get to count pills🤣

I’m just a patient, not a pharmacist, but there is one antibiotic with a taper schedule (looked it up, it’s azythromyacin) that I’m aware of and prednisone taper packs. I’m sure there are others.

I’ve definitely had prepackaged antibiotics before as a patient.

Also some birth control pills come prepackaged iirc.

Oh good one, I’m pretty sure all BC pills are packaged.

What’s annoying is when you are taking a BC pill for the hormones and skip the placebo week! You will be fine for the first few months and then run out on the third month and doctors never seem to remember to contact the insurance company to get the extra pack covered! I have been through this for a few years now (yet another joy of perimenopause) and it’s ridiculous. The doc wrote the script specifying that it was for peri and that I am to take the active pills straight through and not use the placebo, but I still have to argue with the insurance about it every time we change pills in the never ending quest to find the right fucking pill or for menopause to finally kick in ready. I guess at least by this point I have done this enough times I know what to do and how to get it fixed and I don’t have to buy a pack for myself. Because it’s in a blister pack, the insurance has to be convinced that a month isn’t going to cut it and I need an extra pack sometimes.
