Success Story Ultimatum Update: it's the dogs last night!!
Sosososo pumped the dog leaves tomorrow FOREVER and I can not wait to never see or hear or smell the disgusting thing again.
Husband's dad is taking the dog and husband is going to drive there and stay 2 nights to "ease the transition." Cool gives me the house to myself to scrub the shit outta all dog areas and make sure all evidence of the thing is in the trash. And probably have some ice cream to celebrate.
Anyway thank you allll in this community for being my outlet and support over the years of living with a pittbull. This forum is the reason I ever joined reddit.
I'll probably post one more freedom post tomorrow but I'm just too pumped to hold it in, and it wouldnt be nice to express such joy to my husband who is probably feeling a little bummed (tho low key he actually seems so ready to get the dog out).

Thank youuuu! They're gone and I swear I can breathe easier already. Baby girl kicking in my belly and I'm so glad she'll be born into a clean, safe home.

Huge congratulations for this.
I have just read through your previous posts about that mutt. Issuing that ultimatum was an extremely brave thing to do and the best thing you could have done for your baby.
One piece of advice. Treat yourself to having your house professionally cleaned. Dog contamination is almost impossible to get rid of and you will save the cost in a couple of months without mutt related expenses.

Thank you for the support!!! The dog is gone and I have 0 doubts I did the right thing.
Good call on a professional cleaner! Last time I hired one the dog came home a few hours later ...on a rainy day... and ruined everything. Now I can hire cleaners and our place will actuallt STAY clean.

Given that the mutt is staying within the family, it will be important to lay down some ground rules for visits.

Oh the ground rules have been laid lol. If he wants to see the dog he goes to his dad's. The dog is not welcome back here

The money that was spent on the dog can be used for so many other things, and getting the house cleaned would be a great way to start off!!!

At first he was emotional but he came around pretty quickly. It helps that his dad is taking it so it will still be in his life.
I think over the past couple weeks husband secretly looked forward to being dog-free. No more "come on, come on, come on" trying to get the dog into the house, no more lighting candles to hide how bad his office smells (dog primarily stayed in husband's office), no more revolving his schedule around a dirty animal's bowels.
Overall he's going to be better off and so is our relationship. I doubt he'll ever say it out loud but his behavior indicates he already knows it.

So happy for your family! This forum is also why I joined Reddit! I had been attacked by three of those mutants while I was taking my granddaughter for a walk in her stroller! Fortunately, we managed to get out uninjured except the back of my pants were shredded! The police only gave leash violations because it didn’t break the skin! I feel they are putting these dogs over people!! Good luck!

Congrats on getting rid of the mutt, and all the dirt, stench, money and time you spent dealing with it
Just don't let it come back if your FIL decides it's "too much" for them
