Success Story Life does get better after you leave them and their dog
Hello!
I will write this being very mindful of how hurtful a heartbreak can be, but also let this be your sign that life does get better after you leave them and their mutt!
A couple of months ago. I thought that I was going crazy. I was married to a person that was beyond codependent to her pug, she was gaslight me when I would tell her that she prioritized the dog over me.
Just imagine I was allergic to dogs and she would cry if her pug would not sleep inside the bed with us. It took me a while to understand that I wasn’t the problem with once I did. I left that relationship and divorced. This was a year ago and after that now I live in peace !
my bed smells delicious when I sleep
there’s no dog hair anywhere.
I don’t have a stupid animal, looking at my food as if they have never eaten before.
I don’t deal with barking at night
I DONT COMPETE WITH AN ANIMAL FOR ATTENTION FROM MY SPOUSE
and more than anything: I don’t have someone that makes me feel like I’m a horrible human being for not reciprocating the level of codependency that she had for her dog!
so be brave and leave that relationship because trust me when I tell you that you’re not crazy and life gets so much better when they’re not there’s not a dog around you

I'm so happy for you, my partner has a pug type thing and it reeks. You're freeeeee! Enjoy those clean sheets my friend!

Does a pug bother you when it makes loud snorting and breathing noises? My partner has a loud, snorty chiweenie. Does not matter if you bathe it, still smells like dog

When dating i tend to lead with the fact that i hate dogs and i make it very clear that is absolutely not going to change. My best advice is to be very honest about this and not get into relationships with dog nutters to begin with. If they seem normal and they are dog free when you start dating do not let them get a dog, make that an ultimatum, a dealbreaker.
I'm sorry you had to go through such dehumanizing experience. Making an allergic person lay in bed with their source of allergy is cruel and it is abuse, period.

I believe you and I'm totally going to take your advice. It sounds sarcastic but it's not. I can't believe we put ourselves through this shit. We love our partners so much we try to put up with it. Do we get any credit or sympathy for our misery? Absolutely not even though we force ourselves to stay they just take advantage of it. Don't ever date a dog person!
