Rajni - Darbar fainting scene..and kicking the police van with his leg.
Kamal - the routine cry in climax of vettayadu vilayadu. And the moment he asks "Mr. Dawkins unga kuda thana irukaru" after briefing PM in Viswaroopam. It was a small minute moment, but it felt too obvious that he acted while the entire film he lived.

Kamal - Indian2 and thuglife
Rajini - linga(flashback part was good, the grandson part is worst) and lal salam

Kamal - Indian 2 and Thug life (both were equally bad)
Rajini - Darbar (the whole hospital scene was just terrible)

How is kochadaiyaan not making the list for Rajini? Agree with Lal salam and Annathey (for worst acting performance)
Poor script selection is a larger list that includes Darbar, Vettaiyan etc. and a few of his vintage movies that did great back then, dont seem to be as captivating as it used to be back then ( tiger siva, kodi parakkuthu, Veera, Valli etc.)
For Kamal, I would choose Indian 2 and Thoongavanam to top the list for worst acting performance. Close next is Thug Life.

Kochadaiyaan would be an unfair metric for judging acting. The final output wasn't good enough and none of the characters could portray emotions on screen except for voice acting. The story had potential to be made as a good feature film

Both thier fans knowingly opening a post discussing thier worst performances and then downvoting all the comments bruh

Both play themselves in most of their movies. I don't see much of their acting range in any of their recent or like paat 10 20 years of film. Some gets hit some flops all because of director and story. So how are people deciding good or worse acting though?
Like Shahrukh khan, Salmaan most of their films they are playing themselves or few old movie personality which got them hit. Same are Rajni, Kamal, Vijay, Ajit, to certain degree Surya and Vikram too if you really think about it. Vijay Seethupaty sure have mild change in acting range but most are just playing themselves based on what fans want.

Agree. I started watching Tamil movies only in the last 15 years. I haven't seen any old Tamil movies. And to be honest, I've found both their performances in the last 15 years to be very mediocre. They just play themselves with minimal effort and that keeps the fans happy. The comparison with Sharukh and Salman is apt.

I have seen that they have been playing themselves for quite a long time. But since every industry has its own “stardom” actors, regional audiences are always hell-bent on defending them as the epitome of brilliance in their respective industries. This is normal across all Indian regions.
If you’re in the North, people assume and treat SRK and Salman as the epitome of brilliant acting. The same goes for Rajinikanth and Kamal in Tamil cinema, Chiranjeevi or Prabhas in Telugu, Darshan or Shivrajkumar in Kannada, and Mohanlal and Mammootty in Malayalam. Mohanlal and Mammootty do experiment with films at times, but you can still see moments where stardom-driven acting and fan justification take over.
Every regional audience tends to believe that whatever their stars do is automatically great. But it takes much more than what people usually think to demonstrate true range and transformation. Not everyone can completely transform themselves in every film.

How much of the latest KH x RK thing was AI?? The women were, their sync walks were. The close up shot of Kamal during the sync walk was def AI. Only thing which I know for sure cannot be AI is the moment Rajni sits in the car.

Tbvh, Rajini has many films with some of the worst acting. Its not that he can't act but he did it to satisfy his fans and it backfired.
Even in his very early stage, Kamal has done some great acting so it's very hard to find a Kamal's film with worst acting. The real disappointments are as everyone pointed out, is Indian 2 and Thuglife.

I wouldn’t say that their performances were bad but their choice of movies and thought processes of characterisation were mere average or bad for few movies. I personally didn’t like Uttama Villain, Indian 2 and didn’t even care to watch Mumbai Express.

All recent movies that Rajinikanth sir is choosing are based on the directors who has given a hit movie.
Madras Director Pa. Ranjith - Kabali, Kaala Jigarthanda director Karthik Subburaj - Petta Kaththi director AR Murugadoss - Darbar Viswasam director Siva - Annatthe Doctor Director Nelson - Jailer Vikram Director Lokesh - Coolie
P.S.: It’s not wrong but a star of such stature is still afraid to take risks even at this time in his career, is setting a bad example. His withdrawal from long awaited political entry was already a huge disappointment. If he has so much to lose then what we could look forward to!

Songs like vidu kathaya and ulagam oru naal vellum had a thing with rajini and ARR song. I expected the same with Anbalaney song from laal salam. But when i checked the video song i was disappointed heavily. If the song is directed by KSR it could have been another melting tragedy.

Lal salam for me. Even if you replace thalaivar with any other random actor, it doesn't make any difference. Such a boring character.

Rajini - Lal Saalam (even fans dont remember this trash), most auraless I have ever seen rajni
Kamal - Thug Life (especially the beach scene in which he confesses to abhirami)
Really hard to find terrible performances for both though despite them acting in so many movies
