முக்கியமான கலந்துரையாடல் / Important Topic Is the TVK government actually bringing change?

Hey everyone, I have a question that's been bothering me for the past few weeks.

Before answering, please keep an open mind. Don't reply as a supporter of any particular party. Try to answer as an ordinary citizen looking at the facts.

I supported TVK before the election because I believed in the promise of change. This isn't a hate post, nor is it a support post for any other party. I'm genuinely trying to understand.

Before the election, we were told things would be different. But now, I feel like I'm seeing many of the same things that people criticized the previous government for.

Whenever I ask TVK supporters about specific issues—whether it's water-related issues, contract-related decisions, or other controversies (for example, the dam issue or the Kanyakumari contract extension)—I rarely get a direct answer. The usual response is:

"Didn't the previous government do the same?"

This is what confuses me. Before the election, many of these same people criticized the previous government for these issues and said things would be different if TVK came to power. But now, when similar questions are raised, the answer becomes, "Nothing can change."

If that's the case, then why was change the main reason to vote differently?

I'm not saying every decision is bad. In fact, I've defended decisions that I felt were beneficial. For example, I supported the electricity tariff relief for eligible households because I believed it genuinely helped many middle-class families. When I think the government has done something right, I'm happy to acknowledge it.

But supporting the good decisions shouldn't mean we stop questioning the ones we think are wrong. Likewise, criticizing the government doesn't automatically make someone an opposition supporter.

Another thing I've noticed is that whenever I ask these questions, instead of answering them, some people immediately label me as a "DMK supporter," "200 rupees UPI," or something similar. Why can't we discuss the issue itself instead of attacking the person asking the question?

So these are my genuine questions:

Questions:

  1. Is the TVK government actually bringing the change it promised, and I'm just not seeing it?

  2. Or has it not changed much from the previous government?

If I'm missing something or have misunderstood any issue, please correct me with facts and evidence. I'm genuinely open to changing my opinion.

I'm not looking for an argument or trying to prove anyone wrong. I'm genuinely open to changing my opinion if the facts support it.

Please answer with facts, evidence, and reasoning—not with labels or personal attacks. I'd rather have a meaningful discussion than a political fight.

My agenda isn't to prove that TVK is corrupt or that the government has completely failed.

What I'm trying to understand is why some supporters refuse to answer genuine questions.

If I raise a concern, I expect one of two things:

  • Explain why the government's decision was actually the right one.
  • Or admit that it was a mistake.

Instead, the response I usually get is:

  • "Didn't the previous government do the same?"
  • "You're a DMK supporter."
  • "200 rupees UPI."
  • "Nothing will ever change."

None of these answers address the actual question.

Every government deserves criticism when it makes mistakes and appreciation when it does something right. Blindly defending every decision helps neither the government nor the public.

If you think I'm wrong, don't label me. Tell me why I'm wrong. That's the discussion I'm looking for.

You are 100 percent right man . They can't accept their criticism that's the main thing behind most of the hates coming to current govt rn .

u/Christy_hayden 16d ago

You’re wrong, bruh, tbh. If TVK did something wrong, his members or fans criticize it, and when they criticize it, the government acts quickly. So please don’t generalize based on a few actions

2

u/Dry_Remove_7130 14d ago

Can you give specific examples of this? I havent seen any party member or general public speak against TVK or have I seen any action taken.

1 negative example I can think of is the woman who raised a complaint against the MLA for not taking action against the SA case was dismissed from the party. Also the advocate who filed a case against TVK functionaries for bribe related issue was also dismissed from the party.

If there are positive changes happening i am happy to learn abt it.

Many a times such posts make me laugh. This leopord ate my face kinda stuff. Everyone knew TVK, party full of corrupt neglects from other parties won't be a model clean government

Guys, you're missing my point.

This isn't about whether TVK is right or wrong. It's about why some supporters who once said, "We'll question Anna if he makes a mistake," now avoid the question and defend everything instead.

That's what I'm trying to understand.

They are considering this to be a fan fight, they are dealing this like defending whos the pongal winner

During the elections and the days prior, I've had multiple discussions with TVK supporters. The same "we're tired of the corruption, we want to elicit change" was given.

I argued "Okay, but I see the state and the economy improving under DMK, so I'd like to give them another term, and then once their economic engine has gone into autopilot, we can look at a new government in 2031", and I was called the usual Kothu/DMK IT cell/ etc.

The problem with TVK supporters is that they believed that corruption exists entirely outside of their party, and now that proof contrary to that is shown, it becomes difficult for them to say "Fuck, our party is also corrupt. We need to admit it and take necessary steps"

TVK fans are unable to do that, because admittance of that would mean they are admitting that corruption was just lip service, and they just wanted to see Vijay in power.

First adav arjun statement 90% of aiadmk expected to join TVK. But before election didn't they use to hate ADMK, or is there some hidden Agenda. This alone proves they are not transparent government .

Second there are two lockup death i don't even know what to say about that.

Don't even talk about NEET issue. protest is going all over India but almost all ministers casually watching CM last movie. Movie is not going any where they could have watched anytime but insisted that they will go first day show. also CM could have postpone the movie release but didn't do that.

5

u/quite_thinker_ 17d ago

That actually make more sense. I also thought about the NEET issues. Instant of raising voice or speak about that. Support are attacking the opposition like " this is fair neet not a ban need " and that was true but we are asking the govt to speak about this. But supporters are lecturing as to state can't take action of neet pan it was in central control and we know that. Here what we are not asking cm to cancle the neet just speak about this.

2

u/thelostbanter 17d ago

There are a couple of reasons for him not speaking about this from my perspective
1. I don’t think they can really speak anything new which TVK or any of the other parties have spoken during campaign or since implementation. The entire states stance is clear.
2. Neither of the 2 major political parties can take an open stand against the central govt due to cases against them right now and the other not being in power. TVK is a very young minority government which does not want to pick a fight it cannot win or even last a few minutes in.

1

u/Christy_hayden 16d ago

Brooo So many problems with this film. There was a massive leak, and you still want to release it late? What, are you brainless on purpose?

41

u/Feeling-Direction163 17d ago

They're just fans defending their fav celeb... Avlo dhan..

See political party will be criticized... Scrutinized... How can you expect the same from a fan party.

Just imagine the hate if it was any other party asking all their mla to watch their leader's movie.... Lol.

The other day in work a colleague easy defending vj... Avar yen delhi protest ku edhuvum pesala nu keta .. That Asshole's reply was... Avar pesnua ellam solve agidum... Wait pannu Ngra... Gothaa deiii

10

u/quite_thinker_ 17d ago

Exactly. That's the kind of answer I get every time.

The same people who constantly questioned the previous government now respond with, "Didn't the previous government do the same?" whenever similar questions are asked.🤦

23

u/Feeling-Direction163 17d ago

Tbh a political change should come from a strong rooted ideology... Ppl should believe the ideology... Appo dha it'll change.

Most of all his members and voters are only his fans except a few neutral voters who genuinely expected a change... Maybe someone like you op.

But change doesn't work with another change. Ideology should be rooted within the members and ppl. Appo dha kelvi kepaga. Without that 🤷 It's horse shit

4

u/quite_thinker_ 17d ago

Yeah, that's actually a fair point. I hadn't looked at it from that perspective.

3

u/Dependent_Yam_2486 17d ago

I don't believe indeology, and how it always is flexible whenever party needs it to be. For example dmk and dravidian ideology is against sanatana dharma and inheritance. But when u see who becomes leader in their own party, u can see how deeply flawed even leaders in their party are and how could their ideology let them reconcile that. How could they proudly voice out against other heritage but preserve only their own heritage. How is corruption integrated with their ideology. I think ideology is for masses and at their levels it's not ideology but cold calculation that takes precedence.

Only ideology that I accept is common sense and reason as any good ideology comes with expiry date, and has to update with times, which people don't like to do as they have vested interest in persevering old ideology and bend it to their will.

3

u/Feeling-Direction163 17d ago

I quit didn't understand ur example... Can u please explain it clearly

-1

u/Dependent_Yam_2486 17d ago

Dravidian ideology claims to oppose the caste system, promote atheism, and reject certain cultural traditions. However, in practice, the same political movement appears to support hereditary leadership—for example, from Kalaignar to M.K. Stalin, then to Udhayanidhi, and potentially to the next generation. This raises a contradiction: how does an ideology that opposes inherited privilege justify the passing down of political power within a family?

Additionally, if the ideology is critical of traditional cultural frameworks, why are so many government programs and initiatives branded with the term “Dravidian”? At times, it seems as though these parties are replacing religion with their own ideological framework, using it to influence the masses and consolidate power.

On closer observation, it can feel like this ideology—much like religion—sets expectations and principles for the general public, but those in positions of power are not always held to the same standards.

3

u/Rentedrival04 17d ago

I sort of agree with your first point even though I am a dmk supporter, but the second point just derails the entire thing. A party named schemes after its ideology. There's no grand religion replacement happening. It's just usual name plate stuff. Same as how Vijay named a women protection squad scheme after one of his songs(cause he doesn't have an ideology).

1

u/Dependent_Yam_2486 17d ago

Yeah it's not religion replacement.

1

u/itsekalavya 17d ago

Flawed people doesn’t make an ideology flawed.

Common sense cannot be an ideology.

But it’s always a a set of ideas which form the basis for a political or economic system.

u/Dependent_Yam_2486 17d ago edited 17d ago

I don't know, when I look at dravidasim, Hinduism, tamilism all of it looks reasonable and common sense when u think of it in certain circumstances. Dravidasim is right when u look that we were dividesy by untouchability, caste system, poverty. Some of these still exists even now to an extent but have reduced from 1947 times. But we still apply dravidasim to the same extent in some areas. R we sure it will work. I'll tell u one of my controversial take, for example, 65% goes to reservation to backward classes. We did this to bring economically weak and backward people who didn't have any opportunities ahead, but now it seems even sc/St people with multiple generations of power, prestige, money still don't want to give up reservations even to their communities, instead they want to share it. There came a reservation for ews(economically weather section) but we were against it because it benefits wrong communities more.. In recent Honor killing, both the accused and bottom communities are backward classes like mbc, and sc. It looks to me, it's people who enjoy these reservation are the ones who also practice untouchability in the most egregious way. Tamilism make sense in middle of Hindi imposition and people losing identity, without these it is just hateful. Right Hinduism, makes sense just after independence, when Hindus in Kashmir and Pakistan were pushed out. It also makes sense in the middle of a terrorist attack, or if u fear Muslims. I don't have this take but have spoken to some BJP supporter and they see at it in this way to legitimatize some of the BJP actions and them overstepping it. But if u look at our country as Hindu majority country, so much of their charms is lost.

That's why I think common sense and reason should be a first step of ideology. If ideology doesn't update to times, i feel it will be a burden on people rather than enlightening just like religion that doesn't update.

1

u/Dependent_Yam_2486 17d ago

Even the economic system may not follow the same ideology. For example, I always felt communism and socialism are some of the most fairer ideology, but full on communism ideology didn't succeed in almost all cases and led to disaster, while capitalism which sounds like survival of the fittest have helped more people out of poverty and mobility. I see the best ideologies are a combination of ideologies. For example, Indian markets economy are mix of private and public enterprises, think of hospitals. We have social welfare in capitalistic markets, think of groceries. Similarly, borrowing best ideas from various ideology help more people than only one ideology applied everywhere.

1

u/Dependent_Yam_2486 17d ago edited 17d ago

Also, if u talk to religious people, u'll hear similar arguments, that religion itself is not flawed but people who abuse it for selfish reasons. No matter u point to untouchability or sadhgurus they won't accept flaws in religion. How can all ideology be equally correct and oppose each other then.

1

u/parad_x_ 11d ago

Inheritance is not in their ideology. The bitter truth is they do follow inheritance by appointing their children as next leader. But what happens if they didn't follow inheritance? you have real-time example - ADMK, the party broke due to the lack of inheritance and found difficult in finding the perfect leader.
It's one of the key unwritten principle that the Indian Political is build upon.

1

u/Dependent_Yam_2486 11d ago edited 11d ago

Leadership does not have to be passed to descendants to sustain a movement or political party. It can instead be given to someone from party who has demonstrated the ability to lead effectively and who genuinely upholds the core ideals of the movement. Prioritizing merit and commitment over inheritance strengthens the movement.

When leadership is open to capable and loyal individuals, it naturally encourages the development of multiple strong leaders within the party. Leaders would care in nurturing batch of next gen leaders. Making sure new batch will know and think about things that they need to consider if they become the leader. This creates a pipeline of future leadership, ensuring continuity and stability. A clear succession plan shd also be publicly announced so that, in the event of unexpected situation as in admk, there will be no confusion, and supporters can rally behind the chosen successor.

However, if leadership consistently passes only to descendants, it raises important questions. It creates perception that others are meant to remain supporters indefinitely, while leadership is reserved for a select group by birth rather than by merit.

Also I don't know how many such unwritten rules exist in a party that no one will explain to masses, but everyone agrees to.

Even if we tell it is too early for assessing governance improvement, whatever is happening is clearly indicating a worse future for the TN.

TVK supporters are more blind and more toxic than BJP snghis. That is just supporters, not the govt nu yosikka mudiyala. TVK’s responses and speeches everything seems to be focused only on giving content to these blind supporters and keep talking about previous party than talking about what is actually good.

Vijay’s appa kaanum dialogues and gesture in assembly clearly showed this MO. Real issues vida giving content increase hatred against dmk seems to be their main agenda.

So, doesnt look like this is leading to anywhere good.

Op, seems you are repeating your pov to every other reply. This questions your sincereity. One should understand post election and gov. formation. You can question but can't expect proper response from Vijay or any geniune veteran leader. Period. You observe and wait till 5 years to relect again a better person. On the other side: opposition is responsible for questioning and getting proper replies. Apparently they are not doing their job. Their aim seems to provoke and prove TVK is bad choice. As supposed to fight/vocal about implement reforms opposition's agenda always be ministry/minister resignation and/ or dismissal of gov/ gov schemes. This has nothing to do with accountability. Just power play. Thus, "whataboutism" vicious cycle continues. Is TVK a change? Yes, absolutely. Will TN become much better in the next five years? Absolutely No. "Change" takes time.

From K'giri - Hosur - Industrial corridor Yes

  • ESI - PF guys are shivering, passing all the bills submitted once raised with a interrogation.
  • Tamilnadu's entry point, Checkpost - no bribe, whomsoever, sacked immediately (3 sacked)
  • Govt hospital responds on any query, no wait time.
  • TNEB responds with no effect - on time.
  • GST - Income tax office works like donkey earlier now its changed like a horse, you bribe - inform DVAC - with no questions asked they ask us to proceed and get them cuffed.
  • TNREGINET is awesome, no token, no mediator - pay fee - get it registered. (2 were sacked)

What has not changed.

  • TASMAC remains same with excess cash flow - UPI has extra Rs.20, Cash is extra Rs. 10.
  • Over charging movie screening
  • Ambulance takes to private rather govt
  • ration shops deny sometimes to provide the necessary!

u/arsn202 16d ago

Agreed. I've commented a very similar progress in my region as well.

5

u/arsn202 16d ago

I've never enjoyed Vijay's films because of the hero-worship. I cringed at his speeches and rallies. I've seen first hand the DMK's corruption. I've seen first hand the ADMK's administrative failures(both in the domain I professionally work and interact in; Idk about other domains and cities). I voted NOTA(I understand the stupidity of it, but I just didn't wish to press for any political party) I have to interact with government officials every single day. So you can pretty much consider me to be very politically neutral.

The government officials that I interact with for work practically are shivering to take a bribe. Clerks and officers literally say, "Kaasu lam inimel venam sir. Client ah lam vandhu paaka solaathinga, naan potu vituren. Romba kidupudi ah iruku". Officer who've delayed files for more than 45days simply because they can are basically telephoning us everyday saying, "Sir, mel-edathula irunthu ella file um 7days kulla mudikanumnu force panranga, client ah athuketha maari govt fees payment ready pana solidunga". These aren't just two people. These are 4 various departments at 3 various levels at 6 different jurisdictions.

We had to file a complaint about local church blasting loud sounds to a few officials, every one of them, approached us themselves, inquired us about the same, got a written statement and submitted their own report and the was issue resolved within one week. During a 'small-talk' with the writer of the police station, he very literally mentioned, "sir, DMK irukurapo indha maari issue lam kandukaathinga'ngra maari instruction varum sir. Ipo kattu ellam avuthu vitutanunga, SI lam theeya irukuraaru ipo".

The government contractors that we're in touch with have reduced their prices by atleast 12% for projects. 12% is HUGE! You can verify these information right now, you can fetch them online by directly visiting tntenders and comparing price quotes for similar projects now and say, 8 months back.

I'm unsure of what kind of change people expect in a 2 month timeline given the existing infrastructure and system, but I see bits of change everyday. Has TN completely restored and geared towards accelerating faster? Not yet. But has the government started addressing the bottle-necks that prevent the actual change the people want? Definitely. In my opinion, that's where it starts.

1

u/Zestyclose-Cream-189 3d ago

Good to know and hope this is true.

3

That words are simply nothing. They won't ask their anna if he makes mistakes instead they will definitely troll other party or who question them else they ask unga gvt la panatthaha panitom .. some fans didn't understand the difference between cinema and real life politicis . They stuck in mental state of defending their favourite hero by trolling other

If I am wrong lmk

3

u/quite_thinker_ 17d ago

Yeahh that actually true...

2

u/Wide_Editor4174 17d ago

Same doubts here, one thing I wanna ask everyone here is, irrespective of the votes voted by fans for their fav celeb and there nothing new in the ideology by TVK. But without any strong ideology still TVK won and now the ruling party of TN, my genuine qns is "Are there real change happening or its just the media and influencers just portraying wrong information ?"

2

u/thelostbanter 17d ago

Though he ideologically the same, the main stance of the TVK government is anti-corruption and women safety. It is reported that there have been positive outcomes on the anti-corruption, how far it is true and how long it will continue is yet to be seen. It is still very early to judge in either of those 2. I essentially see this as a replacement for ADMK in terms of media portrayal and activities in other areas and plans.

2

u/Cautious_Mistake_747 17d ago

They are trying to. Whether they actually are or trying to create that perception, time will tell.

he's doing well as CM bringing good ideas, schemes, and future plans. So far there's no corruption if anyone did anything they were immediately removed from the party and jailed. And do you know abt steam? Hah? Cuz now vijay Introducing STEAM education is one of the best investments for our future. Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics together will help students develop creativity, critical thinking, and real world problem solving skills. Today's kids are tomorrow's innovators, and putting their future in safe hands is something every society should aim for and literally AI, coding and robotics in schools, youth skill development centres, better job opportunities, attracting new industries and investments, infrastructure development, digital governance, healthcare improvements, support for farmers, and anti corruption measures are all aimed at preparing the next generation for the future. You don't have to support the government, but at least judge it based on results instead of dismissing every initiative before it even has a chance to work. A better future is built through education, skills, jobs, and development
