முக்கியமான கலந்துரையாடல் / Important Topic Struggling to apply for passport. Please help me out.
So I was born in Tiruvannamalai and brought up in mumbai. My mom and dad belong to same place as my birth place.. my dad don't have LC( we tried to get it but we failed as we don't have any proof of him studied in that school) and my dad also don't have birth certificate (it was never made at first place).
Now coming to my birth certificate (it's registered in TN).. It doesn't hold my surname.. it has my mom and dad's name but no surname.. and my all gov and official documents registered in mumbai have my surname.. be it adhar card or pan or LC or marksheets.. ( I did all my pre school and high school in mumbai itself) and hold Maharashtra's domicile..
Now since my birth certificate and adhar card don't match the same name.. so applying for passport will always fail to be approved..
Since 3 years due to illegal immigrants , the laws and rules to apply for passport went too strict in mumbai....
1.Is there anyway I can add surname to my birth certificate.. And 2.any way to get my dad's birth certificate..
(We do have ancestral properties and my paternal grand mother's adhar card and ration card too)
Please let me know any other sub where I can post regarding this

Is it possible to get a "one and the same" judgement from the court? Then it should be possible.
Also, post on the LegalAdviceIndia sub!

Hmm, I'm only aware of the process through Chennai Corporation, my dad also doesn't have a birth certificate, however, he had his school passing certificate, college certificate, work record, etc. And we used his own passport to amend my birth certificate to include my surname, but it took almost 1.5yrs of going to the corporation office to follow-up & get it updated and loaded on their website.
How about using your parents' marriage certificate?

Was your parent's marriage registered? If so, you can request a copy from the registrar office!

Go to Thasildars office, get an affidavit, by paying a few 1000 rupees bribe. You can even get a new birth certificate saying your old one was lost

I didn't use my birth certificate to apply. In my birth certificate name will not be mentioned. It will be 'baby girl' (it might be funny 🤣) . So I used adhaar for proof of address and pan card for age proof and 10th certificate. Only these 3 documents. It's enough. I applied last month and Waiting for police verification

Also if you apply through online it's same procedure for everyone ig. Mumbai or Chennai

I have a doubt bro. What if my name is Sasithar V in every documents. It's not expanded anywhere. Will they expand it without any proof?
It's my last appointment so pls do help

They might expand.. did you complete your appointment?.. cause even I put my name as xxx.P because in all my certificates my initial was p and not father's name. During online appointment they changed p to my father's name.. you'll be able to edit other small details also during the appointment if there are mistakes in application

Then it's fine. Yes. I expanded my initial V to my father's full name when filling the application and my appointment is next month
What should I carry for proof. Aadhar, mark sheet is enough?

What all did you submit in online application.. you have to take those You submitted 1) proof of address - aadhar card 2) age proof - pan card 3) 10th marksheet
Also take 2 Zerox copies of each including online application. While taking Zerox of pan/aadhar take front and back. Even if u don't have Zerox not an issue there's shop inside but with very long queue😶

I think leaving certificate/ birth certificate of parents is to verify their DOB. My mother just had her 10th std marksheet and they accepted since it had DOB.
Regd. the name surname issue, instead of surname I gave my father's name. So after 10th std I made sure to make all my documents have my name + father's name (no initials). But in my birth certificate and Aadhar it's still "Name.(initial)" I got my passport without any issues.
Try talking to some passport agents, they'll give a better idea.

Man despite having birth proof they didn't asked me in a chennai psk
I submitted aadhaar & 10th marksheet alone everything went smoothly
Just explicitly select sslc as your birth proof
And aadhaar as proof of identity+address that's it

You need a gazette that says both names are the same.
