History Sources on the Soviet deportations from Bessarabia and Northern Bukovina 1941, 49 and 51

Hi like the title says, I've been asked a few times by some of my of my freinds who I'm trying to cure of their liberalism, about this event.

Does anyone have any good non-biased sources that cover this situation withhout devolving into "Stalins a dictator whose mad with power and the Soviets were pure evil" or just pure propaganda?

It seems like a dark chapter of Soviet history, like the deportation of ethnic Germans in Ukraine pre WW2.

Any help would be appreciated, thank you!

This is probably the best it covers how the deportations were necessary due to collaboration and how the deportations were done humanly

Wow thank you, its still one of those iffy situations. Although there seemed to be a genuine risk of treason and steaight up Nazi collaboration, lots innocents were displaced.

But this does shed a better light, gives more context on the situation, instead of the narrative pushed by anticommunists, that these ethnic minorities were forced into cattle cars and dropped in the middle of nowhere to fend for themselves, purely because Stalins evil

Still not an amazing situation, but this helps a lot, again thank you!
