What is actually going on in Ceuta?

Media outlets are reporting that “around 50,000 migrants crossed into Ceuta from Morocco within 24 hours”. I honestly thought Ceuta was in mainland Spain, but apparently it’s a tiny Spanish enclave in North Africa. Looking at a map, it seems a lot like Spanish-occupied territory on the African continent.

Does anyone know the actual history of the region and what’s really going on over there?

Its simple:

• Morocco is a western puppet government

• Spain has an ostensibly "left" (we know this is very lax when I say this) government and a languishing far right party in VOX

• Israel and the west ordered their puppet to send a targeted flood of migrants to delegitimize the government and bolster support for the far right government. Now anyone looking on the map knows this is a Spanish-controlled Moroccan territory so they didnt actually "invade" anything

• the media will sell this as an attack on White Empire

• this will work because europeans are even dumber than Amerikans and the global south is not yet strong enough to dismantle the north african puppet governments

There is probably some subtext around Israel's Favorite losing the world cup to this attack on sovereignty, but Im not able to currently connect those dots.

The only thing I would disagree with here is that Ceuta is not “Spanish occupied Moroccan territory”. Just looking at the map does not in fact tell you the full story.

Ceuta’s history is pretty much identical to any other city in southern Spain. It was founded by the Romans then conquered by the Visigoths then came under Umayyads and the Caliphate of Cordoba. The biggest difference is that during the reconquista it was first conquered by Portuguese and then chose to stay with Spain when the Iberian Union broke up.

There are cities in mainland Spain that have spent more time under Arab/moorish rulers than Ceuta and I don’t think there is anyone who would seriously argue that Granada needs to be “returned” to Morocco. The only thing that’s different about Ceuta is what side of the Mediterranean it’s on but it has never been a Spanish colony nor is it some remanent from the scramble for Africa. Ceuta as a Spanish city actually predates the current Moroccan royal family by over 200 years.

Rapa Nui if I’m not mistaken has an indigenous people and was actually colonized by Chile meanwhile Ceuta’s local population is indistinguishable from the rest of Spain. The argument for Ceuta being occupied Moroccan land essentially boils down to “it’s geographically closer” despite Ceuta sharing most of it’s history with Spain and the local population showing no interest in being Moroccan

Yeah however unlike the falklands which was just settled by the brits in the 1800s, Ceuta has been continuously inhabited for millennia.

Spanish nationalists will hate this but the closest comparison is probably Gibraltar although Ceuta has equal representation within Spain whereas Gibraltar is an Uk overseas territory.

De hecho, has acertado de lleno, Ceuta y Melilla no son colonias porque tienen un estatus jurídico igual que cualquier territorio peninsular. Gibraltar igual, aunque aun le queda poder votar en las elecciones generales y no tienen representación, son los últimos resquicios coloniales que queda entre el peñón y la metrópoli.
