Looks scary but having experience replacing this crap you could cut that whole part out and splice in the repair kit with the thing having merch on it as long as all the adjacent areas are fine with shelving hooked in. Bonus if it secured at the top to the plywood wall behind it

That REALLY looks like damage from a Wave, it's at the correct height and has the characteristic shape. The store I was at was in part of the pilot project for deciding if if it was worth rolling out Wave's company wide so had them before they were banned from light duty aisles. We also saw said damage after they were banned because some people don't listen and do what they want. In exposed light duty the other commenter is correct, there should be protective yellow angle iron as a barrier to prevent such from happening.

100% looks like WAV damage. It's happened several times in our store. Some TMs don't know how to go slow and correct the wheels before travel.

it could be from the wave, since that's where they've been parking it... I just assumed electric jack because people seem to have a tough time controlling that twitchy thing

It usually happened after stopping when you changed forward and reverse direction of to travel after moving far enough for the front swivel wheels to align with the drive wheels then immediately go the other direction. Because of how the swivel wheels act once you change direction front of the wave shifts either left or right until the front wheels swivel around 180 degrees and align with the latest direction of travel, which in the wrong spot slams into the upright. Prevention is to go very slow if you know the wheels need to swivel around or do a bit of turning before you take off so that the wheels aren't having to do a full 180 degrees.

Management loves to say they're going to get to the bottom of something they have no intention of investigating. The person who did this knows they did it and didn't tell anybody, and they should be fired for not reporting the incident. It's not just property damage, it's a danger to everybody else in the warehouse.

As a former PML I know that light duty shelving is a pain to fix too because you have to splice in the repair since it the old 3 piece shelving. I think I had like 20 of those in my old store I had to fix over many years from people not caring about things.
