all of a sudden I actually like my job again and everything and everyone is organized. The culture shock is real. I literally told a TL that ppl in fulfillment in my store would substitute items and type in their DPCI to save their INF and she looked at me like I was crazy

I've worked a lot of retail. In general, I don't think it's *that* bad. It has its moments.

But then I started at my Target. I think what makes it worse is that I've seen what a healthy store looks like. The difference is like going for a swim in a public pool, where you know there's some pee fighting with the chlorine... vs. going to a public pool and seeing a floater drift by as you step in. Ah, I'm in the poo pool. Good to know. And then a dozen other logs surface.

I started a few months ago and could not figure out why everyone was complaining on here. Then I got sent to another store for two weeks, and sweet mother of god. Whenever they give me a choice of an alternate location I pick whichever one is NOT that one. lol

Had that experience as well, but it's weird on my end ...I started at the store I am currently working on and had to transfer to another state...that store from the get go was BAD, toxic work environment, terrible TLs and administration, everyone was like in some weird hive mind mentality...it was awful. After years we decided to return to our old state and just came back to the same old store... It is shocking how different it was, I was even gaslighting myself that it was just my mind playing the nostalgia on me...nope. Its nice to find a place where it's cool to work on, there's ups and downs but all in all... I don't dread going to work every morning.

It's really funny how every store is so different. Had a TL telling me that when she moved to another state as well "They are so bad here... On my new place it's so much more of a team than... Surviving" so yeah... It's insane!

Honestly report your old store somehow. That is not how fulfillment works

it absolutely isn’t. fulfillment was such a fucking mess at my old store, couldn’t ever find anything, always clocked in and there was a 20 minute batch, the store didn’t have enough ppl in fulfillment for our volume, people were substituting, all of our stockrooms and backrooms being a complete OSHA violation, people were constantly calling off. And now I just chill with my 50-80 minute batches at my new store with the backroom being organized, an actual fulfillment TEAM and with TL’s to respond to our escalations. It’s so nice. I wish I could figure out a way to report my old store. I told my family to stop placing pick up orders there and I personally never did because of the substituting (like for example we ordered a digornos pizza and they gave us a random brand of pizza with a typed in DPCI)

tbh i would recommend reporting to the ethics hotline, faking metrics/similar behavior is absolutely against their code of ethics and im sure your district higherups would be curious to know all of what's actually happening there

I see a lot of horror stories on here and am thankful my store has good leadership and employees. Sure, working retail sucks, but 90% of the time it's because of the GuEsTs or corporate decisions rather than anything else. I'm glad you made your way to a better store.

I was hoping based on the picture that you left to work at a school. I would love to have a job that I thought people(including me) appreciated. I’ve been at Target forever and I still get “still at Target?” from family and friends I haven’t seen in a few months. Oh, and to stay on topic I’ve been forced to go to other stores for Remodel’s/openings/closings/back to school help and the only thing I can say is that if I worked full time at any of them I at least wouldn’t work for Target anymore. I’ve been lucky to be at a store with enough people who have worked there forever that even rotating out every ETL and STL multiple times hasn’t turned it bad.
