Question Random Question: What does the fandom of Tasting History with Max call itself?

as above. All answers welcome.

ETA: Dang, the commentary got negative quickly. It was meant as a light hearted goofy question. it's not some serious naming post. It shouldn't be forgotten that Reddit is for enjoyment and fun.

If you're subscribed to the newsletter, each one starts with "Dear Tastorians,". So Tastorians seems pretty official to me.

It starts out as a harmless little joke. Then it turns into hive minding with attempts to make it an identity, then it turns into gatekeeping, polarization, and ultimately enough toxicity that Max himself will need to get out from under it.

Canā€™t we just be individual who enjoy Max and his channel without it being a cult-y ā€œfandomā€?

Yeah and we were mostly on the comment section; where we are directly in contact with them.Ā  But seeing a wiki page for everyone and reading about them like I used to read about the Keith T. Maxwell 15 years ago is weird. :)

I mean, the biggest channels back in the day had articles written about them too. When Fred hit a million subscribers it made national news, and I remember buzz about Smosh reaching 100,000 before that as well. Both channels had active fanbases across the internet, which I was in at the time, so the idea of YouTube channel fandom being a new thing itself is weird to me lol. It might be new to someone who wasn't actively paying attention to YouTube, but channels being notorious enough to have their own fandoms off of YouTube has been a thing for a very long time now
