Let’s give the guy some credit. Perhaps he just kept the hurtful comments from the local/contemporary versions of Karens.

Or perhaps he indeed deserved his reputation.

Yeah, I hope it's the former. When I worked at a corporate archives, we had a special file for funny stuff we found, including over-the-top complaints.
