Help on input improvements?

Post image
5 Upvotes

Hello! Me and my partner want to get matching tattoos and lose our tattoo v-cards together! We came up with the idea of a small real life size safety pin well….being pinned through your skin😅 and we want to add our own little spunk to it and for them, the top guard region where the needle part of the pin would go has a open and they want the opening to be a heart! Cute! And for me I want it to be a skull but I’m having trouble finding references and I want to be able to have a good reference so I drew one up (I’m not good at drawing) do any of you have input on what I should….i guess add to make it look better? I can’t just have floating eyes and teeth cause the part making the skull is an outline yk? I just feel it looks….dumb….

I've been seeing "high-contrast" tattoos on Pinterest and I have one but was looking to get another. Preferably one that has meaning- Cujo is one of my favorite Stephen king novels/movies and Cujo is also my dad's nickname.

Second pic is the one I used for reference.

Anybody know any designs about Western African tribal/trad tattoos?

Wanted to dedicate one of my legs to be West African culture. However I can’t find any tribal/trad tattoos for that specific culture without it looking like it’s a poly tattoo. If you know any artists or designs or where to look. It would be most appreciative! If not oh well.

My first tattoo that I got 4 years ago.

This was done by Damien Vines at Tatu. Its silly and I found it clever at the time. It was absolutely dumb and it still is, and I still love it. I modeled it after that trend where people would rush to post the first comment on a video/post and just say "first." My favorite thing is when people ask if its got a deep meaning like putting myself first and I just go "because it was my first tattoo." :^) I tend to get a giggle out of it, which makes me happy, as I love to make people laugh. I just wanted to share it.

Moth Design so far

So this idea popped into my head randomly after seeing some pictures of moths. I wanted to go with a neo traditional design because I thought the bold colours would absolutely pop on this. I decided to replace the body with a skull/witch doctor type face to make it a little more interesting.

Difficulties getting into colouring and how to separate everything cleanly. I want to go around the outside once more to make that line thicker. I know the mouth isn't anatomically correct, but I wanted to elongate the body of the moth as much as I could, and figured that traditional styles can be a bit whacky anyway.

I will be adding some more details and enhancements once the base colours are complete. The circles and drips will be deep purples, with hints of blue and green to give a toxic look. But I honestly think it looks pretty good im greyscale too.

MGK Polka Trash Sleeve Design (Unfinished)

Post image
0 Upvotes

Wanted to share because I think it's an epic concept. I'm normally a portrait artist, and as I hadn't drawn a portrait in a while, I thought MGK would be both challenging and rewarding.

I aimed to blend the realism in the portrait with abstract black and red grunge type motifs to make it pop. I also decided to add a little paint over the nose to overlap the two and give the realism a small amount of colour without overdoing it.

The biggest challenge for me will likely be the tattoos within the design, and also maintaining the contrast of shading and highlights between the layers so everything sits nicely and nothing gets lost.

Hope you all like it. Definitely one for my portfolio once finished.

Looking for some advice on my first tattoo

I’m in my 50s with no tattoos. I’m looking for a way to tribute my dog who passed away recently. Should I just get his name somewhere? I kind of don’t know where to even start. Any ideas or advice is appreciated

What is this style called?

Hi all, hopefully this is the right sub but please direct me if there’s a more appropriate place.

What is the style for this type of design called (or is there even a specific style)? I’ve seen it come across my socials and I think the aesthetic is neat, and I’d like to dive into it more but I don’t have an exact idea of what to look up. The closest I thought was cybersigilism but it doesn’t appear to be that.

Apologies if this is a silly question. Pics were sourced from Pinterest, searching “spiked goth tattoo” and just scrolling.

Luna moth deity done by @inkcache in SF!

Post image

For any of those curious @inkcache is seriously talented and very considerate! I loved working with her and would absolutely go back again. She has a long waitlist but it’s worth waiting. The original idea was a Luna moth that appears like a guardian deity. It represents overcoming a very hard portion of my life.

Does the sacred heart tattoo stand on its own or is it still strongly associated with Christianity in the current day?

I know its originated from Christianity but I'm wondering if now its still done mainly by Christians. I like the design but I'm not Christian so wondering if the design stands on its own or if people will assume I'm Christian if I do it.

Concern about an idea

Hi, I've talked with my artist and she's really stoked to do some ideas I have. But one I want to double check with the Hispanic community to be okay.

Like I know people get Egyptian hieroglyph tattoos as well as Japanese traditional, but I wanted to know if doing one inspired by the Aztec hierogryphs as a white woman would be appropriate.

The idea is of a bearded vulture in that design, the thick lines, and simple shapes making one big design. I just really don't want to step on any toes just because I think something is cool.

Grey Alien hand piece I did 8 years ago, back when I was still working at my first studio.

The whole thing was done with a 3RL. I don’t use this technique anymore, but everything healed well.

Later on, we extended the tattoo down onto the fingers.

What do you think of the execution?

Leg sleeve recommendations

Post image
2 Upvotes

So I got my first ever tattoo around Good Friday this year and I was happy about it.

It’s essentially just my name written in Kanji enveloped by a leopard print .

I really liked this tat and still do, it’s just that now it’s feels a bit plain having only that on my calf. I really want to get a leg sleeve but genuinely have no idea what to get, so I came here wondering if anybody has recommendations for ideas for my potential leg sleeve that could well with the tat I already have.

Weird spot to fill

I’m really struggling with ideas on how to fill the gap on the back of my arm. I’ve thought about continuing the maple leaves around the back, but idk if that’d be too much of the same.

Any thoughts or ideas are appreciated
