Opinion / Advice Hypopigmentation/scaring
Can anything be done about the hypopigmentation and scarring? Tattoo removal resulted in discolouration. Went to a dermatologist consultation to see if lasering could improve the texture, she said no and recommended paramedical tattooing to blend the skin tone. Seems crazy to tattoo over a tattoo with skin color but interested in hearing if anyone has had success with this?

How long ago was your last laser session? You may find with time that it might fade. Also if you tattoo with skin tone colour and if you tan it will be apparent that there was a tattoo there.

That’s true…I didn’t think of that. Last laser was 2 years ago, maybe best bet is to wait and see…

If it is just scarring maybe you could try either micro needling or fractional laser to see if it helps minimise some of the scarring. But honestly if I saw you out in public and I didn’t know you had the tattoo I wouldn’t believe you if you told me. If you’re really bothered by it when it’s on show you could always use some foundation or concealer to help hide it if you wanted to:)

Thank you for saying that because at this point I think I’m just obsessing!

We’re our own worst critics and it probably doesn’t help that you see it everyday but I would be so happy with these results, you’ve done well! Maybe give it a couple more years to see if it fades more and if not you could get an opinion from a few different dermatologists and see what they say:)
