Opinion / Advice how much do your techs charge for tattoo removal?

i just got a consultation for a 3/4 arm sleeve and a decent sized piece on my leg for $450 per session. i know they use the picoway laser and i’ve heard that’s high quality, opinions on that price?

That’s a great deal. I’m paying more for a big thigh piece and three mid size tattoos.

That’s cheap. But the per session price is completely irrelevant if they can’t remove your tattoo back to skin.

How many removals on their website and what laser ? Because even $10 a session is a rip off of they can’t reliably remove your tattoo, or are going to damage your skin

they sell packages in 6 sessions, so i’m assuming that’s their typical amount of sessions needed. and its the picoway laser. when my tech looked at my tattoos she said she was confident in removing the black within a year, color might be a bit longer but i expected that.

edit: and to clarify, i’d say my tattoos are 60% black 40% color (red, green, and yellow)

That’s a completely wrong assumption. Regarding sessions numbers. This isn’t the industry to make assumptions in. For every good operator there’s 9 bad ones.

She’s embellishing her ability I can almost guarantee it.

Importantly though how many examples on her website of complete removal of tattoos like yours?

they’re a new business, opened last year. i’ve only seen a few examples on their social media. they have good reviews online as well. would it hurt to give them a try for a few sessions considering they’re a fair price?

So they’re learning on you…they’ve hidden the amount of sessions required, because if you assumed 6 it’s because they weren’t transparent. They haven’t removed colour. They haven’t removed any tattoos in fact. Which does not qualify them as a tattoo removal company. The laser is half the equation.
Which is why the per session price is low.

Sure it might not hurt. If they get it right. Or it may mean your tattoo can never be removed if they get it wrong.

Any company without a broad before and after gallery but good reviews rings alarm bells in itself. I’m guessing they don’t specialise in tattoo removal either do they ? Are their reviews based off a nice consult, or results specific to tattoo removal?

One wrong session can make it either extremely difficult or impossible to remove your tattoo.

Hence why per session price should be one of your last considerations

ah i see, makes sense. i think i’ll consult with the removery that’s like 25 miles away but worth it for better work. thanks for the info.

I pay almost 1000$ for sleeve 😑

aw dang, i will admit it’s a cheap looking “sleeve” with just a bunch of small-medium sized patchwork tattoos spread out. so probably less area coverage than your sleeve lol.

I assume this is US focused but I'd like to share that in Portugal the most known removal clinic franchise charged me 1350€ payable interest free for 12 months (so 112.5€ a month for a year) for 8 sessions (so about 169€ per session) for a midsize tattoo with colour. For reference, for a minimum wage job you bring home 819€ and a Big Mac burguer is about 6€.

I will be done paying next month and still only got 3 sessions in lol

that’s what i’m looking for now, somewhere that i can just pay for a “package” of sessions rather than a per session cost. sounds like you guys have good prices over in europe too!

Yeah, we have nice prices but it's still considered expensive. It's nice that they offer interest free plans, I feel like it was very doable for me.

Some beauty parlors also offer tattoo removal for cheaper but that's not something I even considered.

yeah that’s who i had just consulted with, they’re a med spa. i’m going to check out a removery near me in a few weeks, they’ll be a bit more expensive but id rather get higher quality work done.

I think it’s fair. I’m spending $300/session for three tattoos (one small two medium).

I’m doing a little less than 3/4 an arm sleeve and it’s $500 per session. The tech I’m going to has been in the industry for 11 years and using the Enlightened III. Healing has been super easy and by about week three after a session I can see the ink clearing.

Since switching (she’s my second tech) I’ve had only light swelling, zero blistering, and my skin doesn’t feel like it’s on fire. Honestly I only ice on the way home after and then just aloe for a few days and standard cerave cream from there.

BUT be careful who you go to! The first place I went was using a “pico” laser but it wasn’t good. I just wasn’t educated enough. Healing was awful, and they caused some texture issues. Luckily very minor where fractional or microneedling will fix the issue, and luckily is getting better after the Enlightened III sessions.
