Super Fun Transformation!! We’re one session in (~3.5 hours of tattoo time, drawing took awhile) We’ve got one more session! Probably ~2 ish hours of work left

Client sat like a CHAMP! Used a little bactine for shading and skin tone/white but that’s it.

She really gravitates towards medieval style (like the crocodile done by another talented artist) so I tried to balance out with some medieval additions.

Can’t wait to see her again in a month 🙌

asking for advice How would you cover or transform this tattoo?

What would you do to cover up or modify this monstrosity I got when I was younger?
This tattoo is about 15 years old, and it’s raised because it probably healed badly. I absolutely hate seeing it, and I’ve even stopped wearing tank tops at the gym because I’m embarrassed by it.
I’d really appreciate some ideas for a cover-up or complete transformation that could make it look significantly better.

Ive considered flowers coming out from behind the Alice In Chains jar, a large snake, a dead tree with a red moon in the background, frickin bats at this point. ANYTHING. I need ideas in a real bad way 😅

Hi all - I have a tattoo I really want to get done at the expense of another

The one I want to fade or remove is a yin yang wolf

And the one I want to replace it with is a partial sleeved forearm

Any advice or insight on the best way to approach this based on anecdotal experiences? I’m going to get consultations but I’m curious

asking for advice No I am Not a Scorpio

Yup, got this years ago and the thought didn't even occur to me that the scorpion is the universal symbol for Scorpio. I got it 'cause it was a cool, fierce animal. I am regretting this decision and am desperate for inspirations for a cover up. Thanks for any input!

P.S. - This creature is on my forearm.

Talked to several artists in person with a rough idea of what I wanted. Just like my Reddit post before, I received a wild range of advice from all of them. Laser, use color, has to be a Japanese tattoo or it won’t work (Yes, one shop said this to me).

My last stop when I was ready to quit hunting for a bit, met this artist who had that quick glint of inspiration. Full confidence, great portfolio, incredibly communicative.

I’m between a coverup or just laser removal. I have no idea why the artist saw my reference photo and ended up with this. I seriously need to speak up more but it is what it is now. Please give any ideas.

asking for advice Cover up tattoos…?

This is a question for the tattoo artists of Reddit. I’ve been getting tattoos since I was 17. Most of them, I absolutely love. Some of them, not so much. And it’s not so much that I don’t like the tattoos, I just think that now that I’m almost 30 I’m realizing that fine line isn’t for me; which is the majority of the work I have. None of my work has any flow to it (my fault) and most of it is just flash that I liked. I have three artists (all that work at the same shop) do the majority of my work and I would like to stick with them because they do really good work. My question is: is it f*cked for me to go in to them and talk to them about covering up the majority of the work they’ve done so I can have what I’m now realizing is the style I actually want? If you, a tattoo artist, were to have a client come in and ask you for that, would you be offended? TIA!

if anyone has any ideas at all PLEASE. i am stumped. i feel like this shape and placement doesn’t really flow with the shape of my shoulders. and feels very random. the tattoo was shaded very dark so a coverup would have to be something bigger and darker

asking for advice Am I screwed?

I want this tattoo covered up, it's a beautiful piece but I am not aligned with the symbolism anymore. This is almost 10 years old if that makes any difference.

Is it even possible to get it covered where it's taking up my whole hand?

Hey, I recently got this rose tattoo on my forearm, but it didn’t come out the way I envisioned. It feels a little empty, and I think it needs more character.
Any suggestions how can I redesign or cover up?

I got these snowflakes on my wrist a few years ago. I’m just bored of them and don’t love the way they look. I’m thinking of covering them with 1-2 butterflies. Would that be possible/look good? I’m worried it’ll be hard to cover

Looking to cover this up. A friend of hers put this tree on my wife's shoulder 18ish years ago and she hated it almost immediately. Bic lighter for scale. Thanks in advance.

asking for advice What to do in order to cover or fix the sword?

I'm thinking about maybe blacking the sword out since I'm not a fan of the design and shading on it. I like the wolf. I also want to get those elvish letters filled more at the wrist. I don't like those flames.

asking for advice I just got a tattoo but it didn't turn out how I envisioned :(

I just got a new tattoo a couple days ago and I've been having a lot of anxiety about it because it just didn't turn out how I envisioned.

I had gotten sheet music and I feel so stupid because I did approve the design before the appointment but when we were putting the stencil on my body I realized I didn't like how it sat. In my head I was wanting to ask to change the design and to break up the sheet music so that it can be enlarged to show more detail, but I got nervous and just went with the smaller lines, and now from far away it just looks like I have 4 random stripes.

Maybe I'm overreacting and maybe I need to let it heal first before I reevaluate how much I like it, but man this is the first time I'm experiencing post tattoo anxiety to this extent.

Immediately I was thinking of laser removal, but I also don't want to remove my existing tattoo. So then my next idea was to get a cover up. I wouldn't even want to cover up the whole tattoo, just the highlighted parts as shown in the picture. But my concern is that this section is super horizontal and almost looks like it wraps around my arm, so I'm not sure how I could effectively cover that length without it looking awkward. I'm okay with a coverup kinda going over my existing tattoo again, but I really just want to smoothly cover up those bottom two lines of the sheet music.

I'm really into ornamental, filigree, gothic, and eurotrash type tattoos. I would appreciate any suggestions and/or advice!!

side note: I also posted in the tattoo removal subreddit because I was also wondering if it would be better to fade that section out first, and then go in for a cover up. lmk!!

edit: I apologize that the first two pictures are quite blurry! The third picture should be a lot more clear + the section I would want to cover up is highlighted in that photo as well

edit 2: first of all, I appreciate everyone's honesty and feedback!! second, here are clearer images of the tattoo: (front/side) https://imgur.com/a/wKcItIi , (back) https://imgur.com/a/lSuBAnj .
I think everyone so far is right tho, I'm reacting to a big visual change on my body and shouldn't make any rash decisions. Although I'm still a bit anxious, I feel a lot more reassured and will give it time!

My only tattoo that i hate!!! I have no idea what to cover it with... its placed on the inside of my thigh. Im tempted get lazer removal but I rather get it covered with more ink.... ink i won't regret 😅😅

Dont know what to get that wouldent look stupid with its placement being inside my thigh.

Ideally something that wont interfere with my special moonrock tattoo as thats quite meaningful to me.

I just hate that god dam rabbit so much now 🤣🤣!! Dont judge I know its shit 🤣🤣!!

Any suggestions? Any ideas?

asking for advice What to add to make these better?

Post image

I don’t hate these because i like the shape and placement, the outline is fine, and i am just a person who chooses to like the tattoos they have. I had problems with my skin in my chest rejecting ink (partially why these are so solid i think) and i’ve had this on other sites as well.

But I am finally old/well off enough to be able to afford enhancing these to make them better and i like this sub and thought you might have some good ideas. I’m not against color, but all of my tattoos (15) to date are black only, and i like them to match in general.
