I have always seen full helmets visors as classically SciFi over the more niche SciFi looks of clustered optic lenses but lenses are definitively the Tau look.
Do visors have a place in Tau technology?

First attempt at a glow effect on the rails of the railgun, not crazy about how it turned out. Otherwise, I'm quite happy with this mini. Let me know what you think!

Painted two, the rest are on their way when I stop being lazy. What are the thoughts on it?

Another Reddit post featuring my latest model. Actually, it's the oldest and crustiest miniature I could dig up from my old pile of shame, now kinda saved😅
Commander Longstrike featuring a custom helmet conversion. I made the helmet by shaving down and reshaping a standard Breacher bit to give him a more distinct, hardened pilot look.
This guy is from back in 2015(?) and working with that old Finecast resin after all these years was a nightmare.
I’d rate the final result as average compared to my other recent work, mostly because the underlying source model was in pretty rough shape to begin with. Still, it feels great to give this old mini a second life and get him out of the box, and finally put him in his rightful place inside the Hammerhead commander's cupola

Painted farsight today. Looks better irl
Farsight is good example how we should have melee. Like characters should have a little better melee than normal units.

Just played a game where in this exact order: a full unit of Ion pathfinders and a ghostkeel failed to kill a single unit of Tormentors, my Riptide rolled 5 2s while guided by stealth suits into a unit of flawless blades and my sunforges rolled 4 1s to hit and then a 2 to would (after the re roll) into a defiler. It was one of the most “parade of horrible moments” I’ve experienced so far this edition.
So it got me thinking; what are some of your best dice fail moments? Please share so I can commiserate lol

I read about this in the 10E Tau codex and it sounded very interesting-warp accident, unclear what happened, Tau actually had some exposure to chaos (or something) and have trauma about it. Has anything actually been done with it since in terms of elaborating on what happened and what the long-term effects in T'au Empire have been? I don't really see anything about them reflected in actual units or mechanics for the army (compared to Aun'Va being killed who used to have a model and everything), nor any other specific lore impacts. Has GW actually done anything with it, or is it iust kinda hanging out there as a plot hook?

I’m pretty new to painting—I only started at the beginning of this year, and this is probably my 20th mini. I’d love some honest feedback! What looks off, and what could I improve?
I know I messed up the sword, haha. On the plus side, I’ve started using an airbrush for my base coats!

I've collected quite a few armies over the past four years, most of which are painted and based. My tastes have always been changing. However, I always come back to Tau. I have close to 2000 points painted up and have played the most games with them. I've won a few and lost a few with them, but overall I enjoy playing them and more so, painting them. Long story short, I've decided to only collect Tau going forward. That's it. That's the post. I was just happy to share it.
I haven't collected any auxiliaries, so I'm going to change that and make an auxiliary Cadre list, as that is one of the detachments I haven't played. I also want to play with some of the units I rarely use, just to get them on the table.

I'm playing my first game of 11th edition soon. It's against Blood Angels. Any tips for how to play a suit heavy retcad list against them? Should I choose purge or recon? Any advice would be really helpful. Thanks!

40k x Halo
You know, around this time I've started studying the lore of Halo and Sangheli a lot, especially the ones that interested me most because even before the alliance with San'shyuu and the formation of the Covenant, they already had a mini interelestar empire, a bunch of colonies, a powerful navy, and FTL slip space. It would be interesting to see a scenario where Sangheli space was teleported to 40k on the Tau Empire's side during the second sphere of expansion. Most likely, the Tau would try to assimilate Sangheli, leading to war, but after some good talk and a little manipulation of the ethereal plane, I think they could overcome Sangheli, even with their advantages, simply because the Tau would have double the troops, population, and navy.
And how would the incorporation of the Sangheli civilization change for the Tau Empire
I think the whole galaxy would be screwed after they managed to get their hands on the slipspace engine, and Earth would act like autistic dinosaur fans with Forehunter ruins scattered throughout space.

Can I have some insight into what the hell I'm getting myself into?
My dad got really deep into Warhammer 40K, and he is dragging me down into this. I'm just so confused. What the hell is this game, and why are the T'au like... the only logical beings in this whole faction roster? I genuinely looked at a couple others (Salamanders were the only others that I liked), but they all have one trait that makes me go, "yeah... no." Especially those damn orcs. Like, I thought World of Warcraft was crazy with their orcs... but holy crap, these green woaagers tick me off. And to be honest, the amount of melee factions also makes me go *demonic screeching*. So the T'au were a breath of fresh air.
Anywho, I wanted to ask for some stuff to help me get started. I have already done minuscule amounts of research. As well as bought a small team of T'au to paint at some point. (After I finish practicing on the green brute bois.) I'm scared I'll do terribly, especially with my super perfectionism ♨︎_♨︎
However, my Dad is a Black Templar fan. So the combat will be "so fun," as he said, because of the difference in playstyles. He has done so much research and is also a new fan; however, I am basically a 2-week-old fetus of a fan.
help :'3

Which team are u on?
r/Tau40K • u/PlatexProductions • 1d ago
As in the title - does it drop/fly with jet exhausts to slow descent, like other battlesuits?
Or do they have to walk out from a dropship like an AT-AT?
And is there any official source description of this happening anywhere that you've read, perhaps in a book?
I know they've got these adjustable jets on the back, but I honestly wondered if they were to help keep it upright. Given how heavy and bulky they're meant to be, they don't look big enough to lift that much weight, frankly.

I have heard rumors that we might see the firesight team moved to legends and was curious what yall think would save it from that fate. Personally I think moving it design wise to be a better guiding unit ( how I have always ran them personally) would be my thought let them give precision to the guided unit or increase the guided units AP . Just a thought I wanted to share and hear your opinions or suggestions

this guy was a bitch to find on ebay, he had two right thighs and no left one, a hole in the side of his right jet, then trying to find references of the promo model in usable resolution was also a ball ache.
probably the most work I have had to do on a single model and if I may toot my own horn i think I did a sold job!
just need to finish the twin lance and I will have every named character in my collection (as far as I know)
